Nicely laid out store with friendly staff. Definitely recommend a visit if looking for hard to find whiskey. Pricing is better than most.

We stop often in the summer for local produce, tomato pie and some small bites to take home. The live music is our favorite. We attend most Sunday afternoons when we are around. We enjoy sitting, relaxing in the shade with a good glass of wine or an ice-cold beer and listen to whomever is playing that day. Always enjoyable.

After we took the self guided tour about the history of wine and the vineyard, we ended up at the gift shop which also serves as the ticket office for tastings. The tastings are priced at just $10 p/p for your choice of 6 samples from Nassau Valley's product line of 14 wines. There are crackers to clear your palate, a piece of chocolate to accompany one (the True Blueberry?), and a souvenir glass to take home. We sampled a 2019 Pinot Grigio (Dry), 2019 Cape Rose (Dry), 2018 Meadow's Edge White (Semi-Dry), 2019 True Blueberry (Sweet Red), 2019 Delaware White (Sweet White), and a 2020 Redneck Rouge (Sweet & Spicy Red). I enjoyed every one of the six. We picked up a bottle of  the Meadow's Edge ($14) for my son and daughter-in-law, and a bottle of the Redneck Rouge ($15) for us. All in all, we had a very enjoyable visit at Nassau Valley.

What an amazing concept! Wine and books?! Does it get better than this?…read more I happened upon this store as I was picking up groceries nearby. When I saw wine and books I had to pop in. The interior is so cute! There is a lovely bar top meant for reading a book while sipping on wine. There is an extensive shelving unit filled with bottles of wine to purchase. Each bottle of wine has a tag around the neck giving a vivid description of the wine. I appreciated that the wine pricing averaged $25 which is within my budget. The selection of books is fantastic. I recognized so many authors and also discovered new books I want to read. I told the manager how in love i am with this store and she shared they also host book clubs and events. If I was not a tourist I would definitely become a member of their book club. The manager helped me pick a lovely bottle of white wine to take home. I appreciated how knowledgeable she was about the wine which is remarkable given how large the selection of bottles is. I will likely come back to pick up merch. I never want to forget about visiting this unique and adorable small business.

If there arent enough female characters in a book, it gets an automatic downgrade from staff. How drunk do I have be to spend $ on an anti AI book? Yep, they have an anti AI section. The good news? Driving up the long tree‑lined driveway instantly set the tone: quiet, open, and serene. We grabbed a shady spot under the trees, and Crystal came out right away with warm service and great recommendations. Their wine list includes reds, whites, and rosé, and we loved doing a five‑wine tasting to learn about each variety. They also offer a full cocktail menu made with their own craft brandy, plus house‑brewed beer for anyone who prefers hops over grapes. And there is also food. Farm‑to‑table dishes that pair perfectly with whatever is in your glass. Even pups get treated with their own Wine & Wags menu featuring a pup cup (can add berries with a biscuit), a frozen peanut butter cup, and plain chicken. Brie had the best time walking through the vineyard and relaxing in the shade, making this one of the most peaceful dog friendly stops in the area.

It was not clear on the website when making reservations that the menus posted were not for the igloos. Even items we asked about on the menus provided were not available (menu said available until 3 pm in igloo, it was 200 but still told no- yet we also couldn't get the steak or rockfish in the igloo. As well, previous igloo visit options provided fondue for 2 (not 5!) and could be altered for one meat and one seafood eater however this time we would've had to at $240 to get both. At minimum $120+$10-$12 extra to add one skewer. Although the ambiance is an "experience" it was not a satisfying culinary experience. As well, it was not clear we couldn't divide our checks up amongst each couple as most all restaurants can do. (Can only do 2 checks, we had 3 couples) It was more cumbersome on the waitress and us than just charging each couple one bill, we weren't sharing food or said put half this on each etc. it was clearly just 3 couples. As for what we did get... if crab dip hadn't had a shell in it I wouldn't have believed it had any crab in it, just cheese flavor. Steak skewer was well done (no choice given) yet veggies were aldente (to say the least). Wine was good but limited selection. I really don't understand why I can eat one think inside yet can't 20' away we would've had a much better experience if some accommodating had been offered on any of the above issues.

We each had a flight of six (Vintner's flight and Lazy Day flight) both delivering a couple of good options, but we enjoyed the Lazy Day flight more. The grounds are cute. We found some adirondack chairs to sit back and relax. There's a decent amount of outdoor seating but as it gets more crowded it's a good idea to bring your own chair as recommended on their website. There were no events on this day, but Layton's Chance does hold many events throughout the year that appear to be very popular. I noticed some of their upcoming holiday functions are already sold out. After finishing our flights it was on to the much raved about wine slushies. You can get small (12oz) or large (16 oz). It is with good reason the slushies are mentioned a lot in the reviews. Oh my they are delicious!!! The featured flavors on our visit were peach bellini and one made with the Freedom wine. Of course we capped off the visit with some bottles to take home and the mix to make the slushies.
