Only reason we tried this place out was because we were in town and wanted to check out some local trivia. It's a small indoor seating area but they have outdoor seating and they make good use of the indoor space without feeling cramped. The brewery doesn't have a kitchen, but they overcome this by rotating local food trucks through every day. It works out well for people that can make it in regularly because they can try a variety of food from different food trucks from the area. The staff are always super friendly, the crowd always laid back, and it's just a nice little place to have a beer and try something from their selection. Wanna do a tasting? Sure they can do that. Want to try a sip of something before you order? They will give you a little sip. I'm a big fan of IPA style and they never disappoint. Usually they have 4-5 different ones on tap. We decided to take a drive down to Mispillion for Saturday. We heard they were dog friendly but we were still cautious bringing our big ridgeback inside. However they were more than welcoming. I love sours and the War Llama is my absolute favorite. This sour stands out from any other I've ever tried. We also got 2 4-packs and a crowler as well. Also another fun thing is no change needed. The bills come to whole numbers, which I just think is convenient. There's not a ton of space inside but the crowed was circulating in and out. There is also nice outdoor seating. My bestie had the white stout, that was okay, it had a bitter back end (she has had much smoother white stouts), the heff was excellent; very smooth, without a kick in the back end. Attended "Brews by the Retention Pond" at Mispillion River Brewing ,Saturday night, with the live band "Native Tongue" playing to raise money for Delaware Brewers Guild. I was so impressed with the music, the tastings, and the large crowd of people. There were so many beers being sold from all the local breweries . My favorite IPA from Mispillion " Not today Satan" which ABV is 7.3 and has 5 ingredients which has a malty, citrus, Carmel taste is so good. I also enjoyed Dogfish "slightly Mighty" with just 95 calories and 3.6 carbs made with monk fruit to reduce the sugars but the best part it didn't taste like low calorie beer. I enjoyed the tasting room and loved that they allowed dogs. read more

I'll give this place 2 stars based solely on their beers and quality as a whole. Outside of that it gave me very local dive bar vibes as whole. When I lived in the area several years ago and was a frequent patron, it has very much changed in a negative way. We happened to visit on a karaoke night and the talent was ear deafeningly poor and we took our drinks to the outdoor patio and unfortunately piped the "singing" outside as well. This brewery tasting room is on the small side, but they have an outdoor space (take advantage when weather is nice). This place has a quirky personality and so did the beers. Me & my friend decided to get flights and this was a good decision-we covered many of the brews and it gave us a better overall idea about their beers. I enjoyed the Rasberry Jacuzzi; Bowcaster; Blue Marbles & Not Today Satan (the name alone is too funny..lol). There were a few that weren't so great-but overall not bad beer! After experiencing the fabulous Dogfish Head Brewery in nearby Milton, I had high expectations after a recommendation from our Airbnb host to check out Mispillion River Brewing. We decided to check it out on Saturday afternoon and pulled up to their space, located by an industrial business area. They have quite a selection of beers: lagers, sours, saisons, porters, you name it. I was even more intrigued because they had a lactose-infused raspberry sour and other great flavor profiles that were highlighted in their beers and descriptions. We got a sampler of 5 beers but you can have as many samplers as you'd like for $2 a taste. You can definitely feel the "geeky" side to this place in their music, their Millenium Falcon over their beer can, and their funkily decorated bathroom. Overall, the beers were a bit on the sweet end and overall, good but not the best I've had. I hate to deck places for customer service but they were not busy on the Saturday afternoon that we went and it took quite awhile for us to get any service. Even then, we were only handed a menu without really getting helped by the bar staff even though it, again, wasn't busy. My best friend and I were sitting at the bar and didn't really get much attention until we almost left ahead of a big limo bringing some guests in. I wanted to like Mispillion but it definitely left a bad taste and didn't have the beer to boot. Next time, I'll just go back to Dogfish. read more

Owner was very nice and accommodated substitutions for anything I ordered that was unavailable. The beers were great! My husband and I enjoyed them all. Awesome staff and good beers. I've had Mispillion in the past, but I never went to the Brewery until today. I had a mixed bag of beers, some of which I enjoyed and some were just ok. However, a few really stood out and I loved. Pineapple express, Not Today Satan, Dank Lord, and Vote for Pedro were really good. I really liked Pineapple Express and bought a crowler. Miss Betty and Nor Easter were good. War Lama and Raspberry Jacuzzi were not good at all. Katie the beer tender was awesome. I also like the vibe of the place. Very nice people all around. read more

Pretty decent brewery for the middle of nowhere. Has a country feel to the place, they have live music, and very nice people and staff. The beer is pretty good and they have some different brews. Tried 11 beers but did not bring a note pad. beach bum was my favorite. It was the most unique and creative beer they had and probably the most complex. I reckon a soft Belgian pale at its' base but had some well constructed tartness that I like a lot. sort of a Belgian pale that was engineered to be a bit more refreshing in lemonade stand sort of way(note this is not a shandy at all). aptly named and good for the mood on a hot beach day. enjoyed them all and thought each beer was solid. there were a couple spicy ones that were very well done. it's always great to have a proper spicy beer versus some one arbitrarily throwing in jalapenos or something. dunkel was the only one that struck me as sub par. thin...and not the right type of maltyness after taste too brief and fleeting. def no banana notes. not hating though! out of 11 beers this was the only one id review badly. friendly service that went out of their way to make us feel extra welcome and accommodated. they def went the extra step. one of the brewers gave an exciting tour for free. i wish the bartender was as enthusiastic about beer as the tour guide...but service and atmosphere were fantastic all around. read more

Visited Mispillion about two weeks ago and was not disappointed. Great spot with excellent beers - a solid 10 that were good across the board. I held a star back just because their double IPA wasn't on draft, but I'm sure they'll earn it next time I'm there. FYI the owner was there, and was an excellent to host, both to my family as well as my five year old. The brewery had a nice array of crafts and crayons and the like and my daughter had just as much fun as we did. We came from Ocean Pines, MD, and I have to say, well worth the drive! read more

This place is pretty out there with a lot of their offerings. But they usually have about 10 beers or more on tap--so if they hit a home run on 3 or 4 that is good. I do not drink fruit beers and sometimes MRB has too many of them. They have a tasty porter. The Belgian Pale Ale has a lot of citrus and floral aroma to go along with the yeast esters, very different--but it works. During dinner time there is a food truck outside selling BBQ. This is a production brewery that has a busy tasting room. It isn't a brew pub. It is very much worth the 2 mile detour on the way to or from the beach. Cheers! read more

I had an opportunity to visit Mispillion River Brewing in April for a trip I took to the Milford/Dover area. I was not disappointed. When I walked in, the crowd's attention was fixed on a high-energy live musician and everyone was sipping a favorite. We were able to get a drink right away, and had a chance to meet the owner and his wonderful wife. What a fabulous family-run company. Everyone on-site was knowledgable and positive about being a part of the team. As far as the beer goes, you can't go wrong. Until this trip, I wasn't a pale ale person because I can't stand hops. The beers here aren't too hoppy, but don't sacrifice flavor. Also, you're going to get a kick out of the names! Can't say enough good things about Mispillion, and I hope to go back sometime soon! read more

I was here back in 2014 once, and all they had were IPAs, which I don't care for at all. I went back the other night for a going-away party for a coworker, and was pleased to see that their menu has expanded to include some sours and pale ales as well. The beers I had (Peach Jacuzzi and War Kitten) were both very delicious and reasonably priced. The bartender was awesome as well, and she handled the crowd like a pro and was super friendly. Even though the place is tiny and could benefit from a larger parking lot, the beer is tasty and the service is good. They also have live music, which is fun too. Overall a cute place and I'm glad they have been expanding with their beer selection! read more

Looks like they will be hitting the big times with the sign in 1 they will have a brewpub in coming years .
