So today was finally the day we would get our little hamster: we had gone to all of our local shops.. no such luck due to the fact that the employees would say their hamsters (in all honesty) were bitters/non-social/had anger issues. This was off putting since we had thought store employees would handles their animals daily and reinforce this good behavior of being held and being alert. So now fast forward to the Dulles location (our 5th pet store we had visited that day) I had called ahead to see what gender and breeds of hamsters they carried since they were not close to our home by any means. I spoke with an employee named Grace who let me know they had a variety of hamsters to choose from- both male and female. So we make the drive, get there and this place is HUGE and CLEAN. Both inside and out their logo on the outside was visibly shiny. We go in and to our left as you first step into the store is the SMALL PETS SECTION- where we quickly introduced and welcomed by, no other, Grace! She was very friendly and was saying that she takes time to handle the hamsters personally- seeing that they are familiar with being held or touched. I appreciated that and felt that our hamster would have started in a great place and would surly end up in our sweet home. She introduced us to all the hamsters and let us know about their personality and behavior. We made our decision and also asked if we had everything we needed to care for our new pet- everything from a tank to food. She wanted to make sure this sweet animal went home to a comfortable place. I have never had a high opinion of Petco in the past, probably due to the selection (in my local area) but I would gladly go out of my way if it meant that I revived this type of customer service. In an age where you can find and buy anything online- I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. A huge thank you to Grace. She made the entire experience, from our first step into the store - all the way to checking out.

The water pressure is great. The aprons and tubs are clean. The store also has a huge variety of treats and pet foods. I love how the staff is very education on the products they carry.

My dog is obsessed with all their staff and will not allow me to walk by without stopping in to say hi. When i first started coming here, the owner was great at cutting my poodles' hair. Ever since she left, the new groomers have been not so great. HOWEVER, despite the inconsistency, they are willing to accommodate and learn to cut my poodles' hair the way I like it. I have tried going to other places in NOVA, 6 different groomers to be exact. Everywhere else is worse and they don't know how to cut a standard poodle's hair. I even went to the other Ashburn Belmont Chase Woof Gang location and they gave my dog an ear infection (very untrained groomers there)! I started coming here when my poodles were puppies and because of the owner back then, my dogs dont fear going to the groomers. I have started coming back here now with my nine year old poodles and I think I will not look for other groomers anymore.

Instead of a properly shaped cut, our dog was essentially shaved down, with no attention to the style we had agreed on. On top of that, the grooming was very uneven across his body, and parts of his coat were noticeably missed or cut at different lengths. We also noticed that part of his eyebrow area had been shaved down to the skin, which was upsetting and not something we expected from a professional grooming service. Most concerning, our dog came home with a cut on his paw pad. This made us question the level of care and attention given during the grooming session. Overall, this was a very stressful and disappointing experience, and we won't be returning or recommending this service to others.

The floor was filthy, there was what appeared to be dirt or dried blood on the back of the toilet, and it was just overall disgusting. I notified an employee that the women's restroom could use a quick clean and new toilet paper in the small stall--she was very friendly and said they'd get right to it! I had come back in the afternoon due to needing more pet supplies to find it the exact same if not worse. There's an abundance of living and dead cockroaches throughout the store. I saw multiple PetSmart workers and the manager look at them and just walk away. The photos don't do justice on how large they are. These roaches are not new either, I was here a few weeks ago and spotted a few! This location has gone downhill FAST.

We opted for their pole starter kit and a couple feeders with the cylinder seeds. We described the area where we lived and the kinds of birds we'd noticed in the trees. They suggested we add the attachment that allowed incorporating branches to the pole so that birds could fly in and perch before landing on the feeder. SOOO pleased that we did! The store stocks a few of each kind of item but those items have been tested and vetted as working well and not just because it looks pretty. We've been overwhelmed at other stores when the options were just too numerous. They have a bird bucks program that's worth joining for discounted food.
