I am a new customer to Doggy Detail, but I am very pleased with their services. They are prompt and thorough, and I appreciate their attention to detail when cleaning up my backyard. I have two medium/large sized dogs, and I hate cleaning up after them, so it's nice to know that I can have a service like Doggy Detail come out to help me with that. Plus, they take the waste with them to dispose of, so that's one less thing I have to worry about. They are also VERY reasonably priced, and they will come out every week, and in the future, should I need it, they'll come out twice a week if I need them to. They are the only service I found willing to come out twice a week. Everyone else I looked at would only come out once a week at the most. I don't like writing bad reviews how about companies but when a company decides to drop you as a client because you complain about poor service, that's a problem. Today I received a text from doggy detail in North Barrington, stating that they could no longer service my account because they don't have a technician in the area. I found this a bit shocking so I did some digging. My neighbor inquired about their services and doggy detail told them they could service their house with no problem. This house is right next-door to mine. I then called the company and they stuck with the lie. They stated we do not have a technician in the area to service you. I told them, my neighbor just spoke with you and you were willing to service their house. after I called them out on their lie, they had nothing to say. Essentially, they decided to drop me as a client because I called them out on poor service. This is a company you do not want to do business with. read more

So why not do it in style? Annette Brumby is manager/owner of Doggy Detail (which can be found at www.doggy-detail.com; do NOT forget the hyphen, you'll get someone else out of California). I had another "detailer" doing my pickup (because I physically cannot due to problems walking), and that person crapped out on me (PARDON the pun!), and in desperation, I found Annette's service in Chicago-land Pet Tails magazine. Her service is AMAZING! They are out there rain or shine or snow or ice, and if requested, will leave a note telling you they've been there. They are quick, efficient, QUIET, and they pay attention to detail (meaning they get everything!). I am so glad I found her. Let's face it, if you are a busy person, have no kids (slave labor), or just cannot bear the job, get Annette. You know, some investments really pay off quickly, and this is one of them! This is not a treat for me, this is a necessity due to health. And it works for me! She can either come one or two days a week, and the rates vary per the amount of pups in your pack. Purchased their spring cleanup option for my backyard, which is extensively used by two small dogs. Poor job. They cleaned up a lot of the poop, but inexplicably left enough that I had to spend another 30 minutes outside doing the rest - and I keep finding more that I know for a fact is from the winter. It was clear to me that they only do a quick sweep of the area and don't really spend time looking closely to get all of the waste. I also asked them to clean in a flower bed, and they again did some, but not all, even though a bunch of the poop was clearly visible. Finally, their crew didn't seem to make the connection between cleaning up a yard full of dog poop and the need to close the gate when they left. Let my dogs out that night and then had to fetch them out of the neighbor's yard because the gate was open. I paid $90 and probably deserve half of that back, though I'm sure I won't get it. One of the employees was putting weight on our gate to close it and ended up bending the hinges. Had to get it repaired When I tried to discuss with one of the owners he said that his employee didn't do anything wrong and refused to listen to me. I ended up calling the fence company who came out and had to fix the hinges so it could close. If the employee had informed me right away about the gate not closing instead of continuing to take matters into his own hands we could have avoided this problem. read more

Horrible customer service. Can not get their scheduling straight then acts like it's not their fault. Technician does a good job when he/she shows up, but dealing with the office makes me look for a different company. My advice for the company: come when requested and admit when you've made a mistake. You've lost a long term customer over something very petty on your part. read more

When the service is good it is very good and when it is bad it is very bad. Not a very well run business; they do not keep to the scheduled pick-up days and just skip them all together (and even charge you for days they do not provide service -- and I'm not referring to their snow policy). One day after service was "provided" I still had 10 piles in the small yard. What?! I was getting twice weekly service. No way was service provided and, yes of course my account was still charged. They always have some lame sounding excuse. I don't care about excuses. I jut want the service I pay for. Moving on to try another service and won't be back. With detail in the name you would think they would pay more attention to detail. read more

I have been using Doggy Detail for years. My technician name is Christopher. He does an excellent job servicing my yard. He always lets me know when he is close by which gives me a chance to let the dog out to go to the bathroom before he comes. He also makes sure to properly secure the garage door which is very important to me because my dog can get out that way. I am extremely pleased with Christopher and the company as a whole . Used this service for a couple years, being relatively happy. Found billing a bit confusing (overlap of payment & billing dates- then claimed "past due"). About 2 months ago we started noticing areas of poop pilling up. Finally discussed with technician & was told he "couldn't get it". The bushes are sparse and 12-24" tall. The technician refused to continue service using graphic language. My husband called & was told the technician refused to come back & they didn't have anyone else servicing our area. I called a few days later assuming there was some kind of misunderstanding-NOT really. I called another local service-they couldn't have been nicer and very diligent with their pick up. If you don't mind a man covered from neck to wrists to toe in tattoos walking in your yard at random and scaring the piss out of your shower wet wife, then hitting on your wife while she is in a towel, use them. My new concern is have these employees had criminal background checks? if so, is this company sending known felons to/into our homes without disclosure? . So after receiving poor quality of service from this company, I was going to take the high road and not turn to social media, hoping that it was a one time fluke. Then I returned home to find my furniture tossed in my backyard and I received a VERY condescending text message. The story, I call and book an initial cleaning. With out ever coming to my home and giving a consultation they just send one of their employees to my home. I explained that I would be there to greet this under educated (meaning no knowledge of my property) employee to explain what my expectations were and where to do the clean up. At the agreed upon time, I find the "door hanger" on my the floor of my front porch claiming the clean up had been completed. Funny, I was home and never saw anyone in my backyard or car parked in front of my home. I immediately called to complain and was told I would have to wait to hear from someone. 4 hours later I learned that the employee claimed to have been at my home and done some clean up. I was told to take pictures and prove that the clean up wasn't done to my satisfaction. I return home during my work day and take time to take pictures (didn't take long as I easily took 10 pictures rather close together where waste removal hadn't been done). I send the pictures to Mike, the owner who claims he will have to train his employees to look for poop under leaves. This is where I begin to get upset. Even I know you have to do that, it's common sense. To make it right, they are now going to send someone to my house on their timetable and want me to take additional time away from work to meet them. I was unable to rearrange my day and told them to forget it and asked to pay to reduced fee since the job was done so poorly rather than waste someone else's time. I had such a poor taste in my mouth at that point that I had no intention of resolving this issue and just finding another service provider. The response was highly unprofessional, condescending and slightly canned as they told me they would put my name on the mailing list of animal charities. I called this company after receiving their contact information as a referral from a very trusted friend. She lives in Barrington, in a well known area. She is treated much differently. The owner scheduled a time and met with her for the initial visit along with introducing the employee that would be cleaning her yard to her. The employee always knocks and lets her know when they have arrived. I didn't get that same treatment. Maybe because I don't live in Barrington. If you have what will appear to them to be a money maker I am confident that this company will give you great service or lip service but if it is assumed you don't they toss your furniture. read more

DO NOT USE If you have kids...Try Tails to Pails, Pet Butler, or Affordable K9 Poop Patrol. Doggy Detail guys never "walk the grid" as advertised. Consistently called to because they left so many piles all over the yard. Like other reviewers, I had to prove it by circling 12 piles left in the yard less than an hour after service was supposedly completed. I also had to rely on my security camera video to prove the time spent in my yard was less than 2 minutes. When we complained multiple times we were told that our price would nearly double due to us causing difficulty. They were already charging more than all their competitors as it was!! Maybe if you don't plan on using your yard, this service would eek by, but with 2 kids and a swing set in the yard, I often had to clean off shoes just hours after they allegedly "cleaned" the yard. There were also a week when they did not show up at all. You will save money and definitely avoid a MAJOR HASSLE by skipping over doggy detail and going with someone who actually provides service and has more honest rates. read more

Brian, we just moved to the area from out of state so you must be confusing me with another dissatisfied customer regarding using other companies in the past. We have security cameras that cover every part of our yard, and we offered to show Mike the footage proving that your guys have NEVER ONCE walked the grid as advertised. One time he said he was here at 3:09 in the afternoon but no door tag was left and when we pulled footage it proved he was not here at that time. I also offered to let Mike speak with our landscaper who constantly complains about running over multiple piles of mess left and we schedule him to come the day after your company comes. The lot does have a lot of foliage lining the chain link fences around the perimeter but nothing in the yard that would make any piles hard to see, unless a swing set and pine tree is too intricate or complex for your employees to work around. The landscaper does a fine job maintaining the grass. Our community is quick to fine for excessive weeds or overgrown grass and we never had a fine or a complaint. I was very lenient and very polite in contacting your company frequently giving many chances for the situation to improve. I can't help but think that it may prove to be a bad business decision, that as an owner, you failed to view the footage of your employees sometimes spending 1 minute to 3 minutes in the yard and not walking anything close to a grid, often not walking around at all, as well as commenting on any overgrowth when you have never been to the property and we have a professional lawn company. We were prepared to be loyal customers, and I understand this is a tough business to be in, I mean, that's why we hire you, because it is a task that is off-putting to do ourselves. After a quick google search to find competitors of in the area, since we only ever used your company, I see it is a highly competitive business to be in. Doubling your price in response to legitimate, highly documented complaints while personally taking this hands off approach simultaneously shirking responsibility for services not performed until a poor yelp review surfaces seems it would be counter-intuitive even for a relatively new business owner. read more
