Another review has a photo of the menu. If you look at it, be aware the prices are VERY out of date. Based on that photo, a "classic" (plain) hot dog was $3 and change. Fair enough, so I went to try this place out. Then I discovered how out of date that price was. $5.50 for a plain (ketchup only) hot dog. No sides, no drink, $5.50 for just the hot dog. It was a fine hot dog, not great, not awful, but in no way was it anywhere worth $5.50. $3 and change would have still been expensive, but I wouldn't have been annoyed enough to write a review based on that. read more

One of the worst hotdogs I've had in Albuquerque. To add insult to injury, it was really expensive -- $9.35 for just the hotdog, which wasn't even a large hotdog, didn't taste like it was all beef, and actually had an off aftertaste. Then if you wanted a soft drink and fries your total bill was close to 15 bucks. Additionally, the fries were barely eatable and tasted like the oil they were fried in had gone bad. This was truly a memorably bad experience and I will never go back. For $15, you can definitely find a better hot dog joint. read more

Food was really good! A bit pricey, but it was worth it. I got the birria hot dog. It was really good! The salsa had a nice kick to it. The birria was very flavorful. It was a good size hotdog. I also got the carne asada fries. Fries just needed to be cooked an extra minute or so. It was still a bit hard. The carne asada was good, but not as good as the birria. I think they used the same salsa as they did on the hotdog. I wish I could have asked for more. After eating the hotdog first and then going to the carne asada fries was a bit of a bummer. The birria was way more flavorful than the carne asada. So I might just get birria fries next time. The order of fries was enough of a meal on its own. read more

The hot dogs are bomb! The fries are really good too. We've tried the Hawaiian, the chilli dog, and the carnivore. All of them were really good, however my favorite is probably the Hawaiian. I definitely want to try a few of the other options they have as well because we have not been disappointed yet. The dogs are massive as well. You definitely won't leave hungry. No one truly appreciates the artistry that goes into making a good Sonoran dog. I have had hotdogs all over the US and some are good, some are bad, some are unrecognizable as a hotdog. Dogos VIP knows how to handle their weiners. The only made this a 4-star review is because they need to pay a little more attention to their spuds. Home fry-style potatoes are awesome, but unless you fry them twice, they end up a little limp.....I don't want to call out other hotdog joints that aren't really living up to Dogos VIP's standards, but let me just say that they aren't clowning around. I love this place! It's clean and tidy, with lovely, helpful counter staff. The bun length beef dogs are wrapped in bacon and grilled. The first time (I went 3X the first week) I ordered the Birria Dog without bacon. The bun was toasted, the dog had a snap when I bit into it. It was loaded with birria and other toppings. I had to use a fork after I finished the dog to scoop up the extra toppings. Since then, I copied my friend and used my fork to pack the toppings into the bun (still spills out). I've also tried the Sonoran, Carnivore, Crunchy and one more which I've forgotten. I honestly haven't been disappointed or not wanting to reorder any. I decided to try this place for the second time since the first time didn't leave a good impression. But months after the first time, I tried something different, i got the birria pie this time around. The first time I got birria nachos and was not impressed by how pricey and spicy they were. So this time I wanted to try the pie since it's pretty similar to a birria pizza from another place here in town (that's actually really delicious). So my first problem I encountered with the second visit was customer service. I'm sure the cashier had a good reason for her lack of friendless perhaps a long day, but there was only one customer ahead of me and it took awhile after they ordered for her to even take my order (which is fine I didn't have anywhere to be that day but I'm sure if I did I would've left by how long it took to even place an order). I looked online before hand so I knew what I wanted but I noticed the price changed for the pie from online and wasn't expecting $26 for one pie, but that's okay maybe it was worth it, right? So the next problem was wait time, I don't recommend coming on a lunch break or if you have somewhere to be cause for one thing I ordered took too long (imagine if I got more items!). So finally I was pretty happy to get my box to take home to eat and as soon as I walked out and got to my car I realized they must've taken this out right away and just stuck it in my box cause this box was just leaking grease all over me. Luckily I was near home to go home and clean myself and my car up from grease. Although the put one sheet underneath the pie, it wasn't enough to stop it from leaking through the cardboard box. It would've been nice if they had a plastic bag to put it in or maybe extra liners to prevent this. On to the food itself. The pie I asked for no jalapeño sauce so it wasn't so spicy but yet upon eating it, it was intensely spicy. I couldn't eat it. Whatever other sauce that was on top was too spicy. The meat was delicious but I wish I would've known all the sauces were gonna be spicy. Please use precautions if you get this, especially those sensitive to spicy foods. I think for the size of the pie and the price I don't think it was worth $26. I understand the layers and toppings are what make it but for what I got it I don't think it was worth as much. the other place in town is just as much but at least it's worth it in size. I'm giving this place three stars for this experience, I was really hoping to love this place and have a "go-to" spot. read more
