Awful customer service. I went there at 8:30. I called to place an order and they said no. I then asked if they were open and they said yes , then they went and took someone else's order who pulled up after me. Poor customer service is my pet peeve. I wanted to eat here but if you ignore me and act rude while i stand to take an order and go on to someone else I have no desire to support you and am sad the community does. No visit to Albuquerque would be complete without a visit to the Dog House Drive In! We came for a quick bite on our last day in town. You can either dine in or in your car. If you park, an attendant will come out and take your order. We went inside. It's small but comfy, it has that divey feel to it. Hubs wanted the footlong chili dog and I had the Frito pie with meat. I think it would've been fine without the meat because it was several broken up pieces of a burger patty. Our food came out quick and the food was great. Always a local favorite, I got my usual, which is a Frito pie and foot-long chili cheese dog. The food is consistently delicious. The service is always great as the server comes out to your car almost immediately after you've arrived. The food is ready quickly and you're able to get munching fast! Great parking for eating lunch. There's lots of room for folks to park and eat in their car. I think there are also a couple of picnic tables around as well. Featured on Breaking Bad, we decided to slip in for a dog. Usually, these places are hyped without much substance, but I will say that I was pleasantly surprised. We tried the burger and the foot long chili-cheese dog. While neither lacked anything to point out the Dog won hands down. The chili was made from refried beans with really good spice. I should have ordered an extra one for the road. There is a counter with 4 seats and 4 tables inside this small hut with 7-8 people working; clearly they get quite busy. Service was fast, friendly, and efficient with the price being completely reasonable for such a tasty treat. This is one exception to the Hollywood hype rule. The Dog House is a fun drive in style local favorite, not to mention famous! Some highlights here are obviously their dogs, specifically the chili and cheese dogs, their chili cheese fries and green chili cheeseburgers! They do have regular dogs and burgers as well if you are looking to ditch the spice. Once you park, a "carhop" will come to you to take your order. I recommend being prepared because if you need a minute, it could take several minutes for them to return. The other issue is that their menu is not easily readable online, I'm not sure why I seemed to find several iterations of their menu but couldn't find the most up to date with items and prices. Cash is best when paying out, but they do accept cards. So what are you waiting for?! Give it a try! This limitation significantly impacted our dining choices, as we were left with options like burgers, grilled cheese, drinks, and Frito Pies. The burgers, while not the star of the show, were decent. Cooked to order with a variety of toppings available, they satisfied our hunger but didn't stand out as anything extraordinary. The Frito Pies, on the other hand, were a pleasant surprise. The combination of Fritos, chili, cheese, and other toppings created a flavorful and comforting dish that compensated for the lack of hot dogs. Since the ART lanes kinda messed up the entrance you just have to flip a u-turn (just wait your turn) service was quick and had I not know what to order in advance they would have helped. Chili dog and cheese no yucky onions (my preference) small fries and a small vanilla shake. So good! Just over $11 and while some might say that's expensive, sometimes it's also about the experience and the memories of being young again and coming with your family to sit in the car and eat your chili dog and fries. So I have been wishing for a state fair style corn dog. I was told this is the place to come to. So there is very limited seating, 4 tables. Most people stay in their cars. Located close to downtown and old town. They do not clean the outside tables. You wish they would do that. I think the cool thing is they come out to take your order. OK, I am a big fan of the television show Breaking Bad, so no visit to Albuquerque, New Mexico would be complete without a visit to the Dog House. This is a drive-in restaurant where you pull up and the folks from the restaurant will come out and take your order. There is no indoor seating, there is no restrooms, and the hotdogs are pretty good hotdogs. A definite stop on the Breaking Bad city tour, but if not, and unless you really love hot dogs, I would not necessarily recommend that you go out of your way to come here. First time visit during travel through the area. There is a drive thru which seems to be well used while I was there. There are a two tables in front of the small building so I think walking up is an option. But what most people did, including me, was to park and have a server come to the car take my order. For me, I got the half long chili cheese dog (with onions), tots, and a cherry shake. The chili cheese dog was just okay- the chili only spicy enough for a bite or two and the hot dog could've been cooked a little longer (didn't have any grill marks on it). The cherry shake was thin enough to be slurpable and was nice and sweet. I loved the crispy, greasy tots (they were addicting).
