Perfect place for us to finally stop and try on Taco Tuesday. $1.25 street tacos with the options of asada, al pastor, pollo, barbacoa and nopalitos. I tried them all. I really like that it's just one corn tortilla and not two and that the tortilla held up. My husband got the queso birrias and loved it. Complimentary first small basket of chips and salsa. The salsa was fresh and a bit of heat. Chips were nice and crunchy. Our server was very sweet and attentive. It doesn't look like they serve alcohol and I believe at one time they did but it was pretty empty so that's probably why. This place should be packed and not sure why they aren't as we loved it. I'm really disappointed with my experience here. I had heard mixed reviews, so I wanted to try it for myself, but unfortunately it was not good. The roll tacos were extremely mushy inside... honestly reminded me of the frozen chicken taquitos from Sam's Club with that soft chicken dip-like filling. Definitely not what I expected at all. You can clearly see in my photo those are NOT hand rolled and NOT fresh chicken. I knew right away these rolled tacos looked like my José Olé Taquitos "chicken and cheese" from Sam's Club in the frozen section. The customer service also wasn't great, very blah, the booth/bench we sat at was dirty, and the hot sauces tasted overly watered down. The overall experience just felt low quality from start to finish. I'm glad I gave the place a chance, but I won't be coming back. Serving air fried taquitos did it for me. There's just no way a restaurant did that! I might be wrong and I hope others have a better experience. The location is still fairly new so I'm hoping they can grow and do a lot better. read more

We needed food and we needed good Mexican food!! Been looking for a new place and I think we found one! In fairness we went late! Like 45 before closing but the girl inside was so friendly and kind!! We had the steak burrito, chicken burrito and chicken tacos. The chicken tacos were very good! Meat not dry, plenty of it! The steak burrito was very full! Tasty meat!! The chicken burrito tasted good but it was thin. I thought it came with beans and cheese, but I had no beans and the cheese was clumped in one end. I will definitely go back and try other items!! The flavor was consistent with what Mexican food should taste like!!! The staff was friendly and attentive!! Glad to have found a nice place close! I will be back to try the menudo for sure!! Tried it here based on reviews. I ordered birria tacos to go, my husband got carne asada, and we also got a quesadilla. The food was delicious and everything I had been craiving. I like that it is someplace in Rio Rancho that I can eat at or order to go. I hope that this place has luck in staying in buisness, as this building seems to have a rotating buisnesses. Came to try the new taqueria here in RR a couple of months back and we really loved it. Millie - one of the owners was so sweet and answered all of our questions and told us about what inspired the food and its cultural background that her and the other owner brought to the food and their restaurant. We have been back a couple of times and we absolutely love the food and the aguas Frescas. The Horchata and Jamaica are the closest I have tasted from growing up in Mexico. They have 3 salsas - the green is our favorite. The only thing I would love them to have on their menu or on the dishes to make them feel a little more complete is some more Mexican sides to accompany them but besides that everything we have tried has always been a treat. Restaurant and Bathroom are clean and comfortable. Will definitely keep coming back read more

I want to give my honest review about La Villas Taqueria in RR. Yesterday I read a raving review about this place and pretty much all the comments were very positive. So my wife and I went to check it out because we're still looking for that go to place for good Mexican food. Wow! Wasn't even close to the the review or comments. When we arrived the closed sign was still up. When we walked in the young lady with red hair seemed very confused about the sign and where we could sit. There were 3 or four tables taken so it wasn't empty but not too busy. The red hair girl brought us chips and salsa. The salsa was watery and very spicy. I like spicy that was a lot for my wife. The chips were horrible. As you can see in my photo, they were so oily and soggy. There was no crisp to them. She never asked if we wanted something to drink. My wife had to ask to order drinks. The cans of Diet Coke came in warm cans and one was flat(photo included). Even the third can she brought was flat. As we ordered, I asked for green chiles and she laughed at me saying they don't have that or red. As we waited for our food. We noticed no one had food yet. They all had drinks and chips and were there before us. I noticed the orders were coming out one plate at a time. There were three men seated by us who were there before us. I then noticed one of them received his food but not the other two. He sat there for 10 minutes not eating his food before the other orders came out. There was an older couple( there before us ) with that look of "where's our food"? At that point, we were there for almost 50 minutes and we left. I gave the other waitress a $20 and told her this takes way too long. The red head girl never came by our table after bringing our drinks. She did more standing around talking to a man at the counter while the other waitress was busting her butt. I know everyone has different experiences and food tastes when it comes to dining experiences. We definitely will not come back. I would seriously gives this a zero if I could. read more

Great flavors and friendly staff! We tried the barbacoa and al pastor tacos which were made perfectly fresh! Tried and loved the cochinita pibil which were rolled shredded pork tacos , almost enchilada style. The green salsa was our favorite! Horchatas were delicious as well :) We will be back! read more

food 3 star service 0 star Ambiance 1 unfortunately I was really disappointed, and so were the other 5 people with me! service was awful, slow and forgot our order and it's not like they were busy, place was empty, food was good but not amazing, ambiance was zero, sort of like a flea market, sticky tables, no decor at all, a poster board sign to say pay here, handmade not even nicely made, no fountain drinks, sign said out of service. ordered a diet coke in a can, got just that no cup, no ice, no straw. Despite the negative reviews this place is DELICIOUS. As someone from California who knows real Mexican food, this is real Mexican food!! I've lived here for 5yrs and have struggled to find good Mexican food. Do not go expecting New Mexican food cause that's not what it is. It's all good, they're a newer restaurant and need some grace when dining in, but to go orders are so fast. I think this is the first restaurant they've owned so they're still learning. Brand new taco shop in Whiptail's old location next to Twisters. Staff was super nice and friendly, brought freshly made chips to the table as soon as we sat down. We had a vampiro with al pastor, and barbacoa and asada tacos. The al pastor was well-seasoned, cooked on a trompo and crisped up nicely on the grill. The barbacoa was flavorful, and the asada had a good marinade and was also nice and tender. I wish them luck and success with the new business, and will be back again soon. read more
