Super busy. Waitresses running around screaming that it's too busy and not enough help and other things that customers don't need to hear. We were embarrassed for them. 20 minute wait to begin with. We had the nicest waitress of the bunch. Ordered 3 salad bar (just salads and soup), 1 fish sandwich, 1 kid's chicken tender meal. Had to ask for the cole slaw that was supposed to come with the kid's meal. I had to go up to the bar to get silverware for our table. Overall, not a great atmosphere and quite pricey. Our Bill was $70. Food was sub par. Fries were like Ore Ida crinkle fries. My fish was a rectangle of fish. We won't be back. read more

Stopped in after a long drive for a simple beer and burger. We were told to seat ourselves, which was fine, however, after 10 minutes of waiting for a waitress to come our table a family was seated in the next booth and the waitress proceeded to give them menus never once looking at us and then she walked away with theirs orders. This place is TERRIBLE!!! Took us half an hour to get seated, even though multiple waiters made eye contact with us. The line started to get so long behind us that people were leaving constantly, not acceptable. Finally, when we get seated, the waitress leaves us with our menus, doesn't even ask us if we would like some water while we wait, and walks away. She seats multiple others in line and starts to serve them, leaving us in the dust. After multiple attempts to get her attention, we were completely fed up with this restaurant's ridiculous mess that they like to call customer service and left. Salad and soup bar is the saddest excuse of any nutrition, the kitchen staff when filling up the condiments had to sniff it, health code violation I bet. I'd give it no stars if I could. $10.99 for a breakfast buffet is ridiculous but I guess they have the market cornered on a busy Sunday Morning in a tourist town. The food was disgusting and none of us were able to finish an entire plate. The Strawberries were old and squishy. My advice is to watch your step because the sloping floors and poor lighting are an accident waiting to happen. My suggestion is not to use the women's bathroom if you're over 5' tall or incapable of putting your knees to your forehead. I also don't recommend going if you have a phobia of large weird characters staring at you while you're eating. One of the waitresses was kind enough to almost knock over my child without saying excuse me, I'm sorry, or any of those other words you learn in kindergarten. Another waitress was claiming to be a 'coffee pusher' and felt it was appropriate to tell all the guys they can just go pee in the woods if they drink to much. You know, while we're eating. There were plastic cups full of (what looked like) pop and water lined up on a counter, on the back wall of the bar....just sitting there as if waiting to be served. The bar was filthy disgusting. We spent $70 on a lunch for 4 of us (2 kids) and the food was terrible! We fed the pizza to the seagulls. I'm pretty sure it was a "Jack's" pizza from the grocery store that you can pick up for $3.00. While the "special" was pulled pork with soup and salad bar, the only flavor in the pork was vinegar. I asked what the soup was and the response was "it's Friday"... so what's that got to do with anything? What's the soup? Well apparently if it's Friday it's a given that the only soup available is clam chowder. The soup and salad bar were nothing special but at least they were edible. Finally, the restaurant is dark and dirty. We will not be visiting the Dogpatch again. Suggest you dig up your vittles elsewhere too. Give your dog a bone instead. read more

Rudest waitress ever. Singled me out for abuse without warrant. Kept asking is that what you want when I didn't order the special. Bullied until I ordered what she wanted...the special. This place was so bad I didn't even get to sit down before getting upset and wanting to leave. As you walk in, there is a sign that reads "please wait to be seated" so I wait. The host looks at me and then continues to ignore me, I'm standing there and rereading the sign and I made sure it said "please wait to be seated" I look at him, he looks at me dumbfounded and lowers his eye brows and asks "can I help you?" I say yes, "may I have a place to sit and have something to eat?" He still looking dumbfounded at this point and takes me to a dirty booth. He sees that it's dirty and takes me to another dirty booth and another. Someone comes to clean it and I ask if they have been busy. He ignores me and I proceed to ask him if he speaks English( I was trying to be helpful by asking not condescending) he tells me he speaks very good English and is very rude at this point. I'm just trying to understand why he was rude from the get go and ignoring me, I'm just here to eat. So I ask for a manager... To my dismay...NO manager on duty... Wow what a shock read more

This is my first review on Yelp and it's only because people need to know how terrible this place is and AVOID it. Incredibly rude staff who rush you, or just straight up leave when you're taking a moment to decide between two options. I asked the bartender which beer she suggests out of two and she just tells me she doesn't drink beer and can't help. The hostess skipped over our group to seat two others and when I complain she just seats us at the bar. Food is mediocre at best. This place is a drive! Heard people talk about it while taking one of the cruises in town and also found a 10% discount at the visitors center, but it was not worth saving the money! I had a plain chicken sandwich and fries with salad bar, and it was like anything you could get from a small diner. Would have much rather paid for a nice Italian meal for $16 than that meal! Everyone around here recommends getting fish from a local restaurant -- my father had the white fish here and said it was NOT worth the money either. He had the fish dinner and we each had a drink (tea and coffee) and the total was $37 with the discount! Way too much for such a low quality meal! If you enjoy eating out for good food and try to make the meal worth while, do not go here!! read more

Hungry after hiking, we were looking forward to relaxing and filling our stomachs. We should have used our head instead of our stomachs to guide us. First it was dark and dirty but we were seated quickly and got our food promptly. That ended the good part of our visit. My husband pulled off an awful looking tomato from his burger, refusing to eat it which is saying a lot as he loves tomatoes. My son had chicken tenders which he had to dump a bunch of ketchup on in order to eat them. My burger was also boring, needing ketchup to get it down. The waitress returned once with a very quick how are things only to quickly turn around and disappear- no refills, no help. The table next to us also grumbled about the food and lack of service. The bathroom was also dirty, looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in days. Bottom line is the negative reviews are true. Please, find another place to eat. Never again. Drive an hour out of our way to eat lunch here because we heard they had good food. The lunch "special" my husband had was a frozen preformed burger, rusty lettuce from the salad bar and slimy, cold clam chowder with undercooked potatoes. I ordered the gyro, which had 3 small slices of gyro "meat" with a few skinny onion slices and overripe tomatoes and a weird cucumber sauce/paste and a side of undercooked frozen Oreida French fries. Met a family as we were leaving and they asked how the food was. My husband told them to just walk away or they would be disappointed. Our hotel recommended this along with 5 other places and so we tried it for lunch. The lunch was pretty good but the staff while friendly seemed very disorganized and overwhelmed leaving guest including ourselves frazzled. Everyone has a bad day so we didn't think much of it and decide to go back for breakfast chalking it up to a one-off scenario. We could not be more wrong. From the moment we walked in it was pure chaos. As we were waiting in line we were constantly in the way of the bathroom, the buffet line (across from each other) and from guest trying to escape through a tiny hallway. The waitresses were loudly communicating that they are trying to keep up but don't have time to clear tables to seat us. As the grows we all inch up and now the manager or owner tells us we are in the way and need to back out. We all back out but now back in the way of the restrooms and buffet. The buffet looks sparse to say the least with guest putting stuff on their plate and putting it back as you can clearly tell they don't want to consume it. Then you hear the waitress again stating they are trying to get to the tables and that they are only offering the buffet at this time. The line is now irritated and as a few guest walk pass all of that are still waiting even though there are tables politely suggest we go somewhere else. After another 10 minutes of waiting and all that we witnessed that is what we opted to do. The only reason I have a 2 star vs. a 1 star was because the food was pretty good at lunch the first day. read more

Where do I begin? We visited here after the Pictured Rocks tour and just before the Garden Bay winery tasting. Upon entering, nobody greeted us and there was no sign directing us. After looking around for about 30 seconds, a waitress said "Just have a seat, Hun." I'm not sure which of us was Hun (Hon?) but we found a table quickly since the restaurant was only 1/2 full, on a Saturday, at lunch, during the height of tourist season. Clue #1. A sweet older ditzy waitress eventually greeted us and took our drink order, returning later with two cans of beer, one clean glass, and one dirty glass. For some reason all the beer is in cans. Yuck! After waiting forever to place our food order, I pointed out the dirty glass and asked for a new one. Ditzy said, "you don't want somebody's lipstick on your glass?" It was actually smudged like if had just been passed through a sink of dirty water with dirty hands. Both glasses came wet, by the way. And she had merely washed the same glass and brought it back wet. I ordered the BLT with accompanying salad bar ($5 upcharge.) After chatting with my sister for about ten minutes, Ditzy chastised me for not yet going up to the salad bar, saying that "men always need women to do everything for them." ... ... ... I got my salad of greens from a bag, with good tomatoes and cukes, and cheese from a bag. I also got some side salads. The cole slaw SMELLED AND TASTED RANCID. It was so bad that I had to immediately spit it into my napkin. Ditzy returned to take our salad dishes, saying she'd bring me a new napkin. Shortly thereafter our food arrived. I still didn't have a napkin. I reminded ditzy to get me one. She was annoyed and said she'd get right on it. After 10 minutes and another reminder, I observed Ditzy clearing off another table, setting it up, and talking to the two new customers about the specials before they even sat down. I got my own napkin from another table. When I turned around from that table I almost bumped into another waitress who was delivering food. She was practically running. After sitting down, Ditzy finally brought me my napkin. The BLT that I ordered was decent. My sister's hamburger was adequate. However, both of us had ordered French fries which appeared to be uncooked. They were in fact cooked but not browned - almost like freezer French fries that you cook in the microwave... Disgusting! I am sure this place only stays open for the tourists who don't know better. The menu seems pricey, the service was awful, and the wait was long and they weren't very busy at all. We stopped in for breakfast before heading home half the dinning area was closed. We seemed to wait for everything; menus, drinks, food, the bill. at one point I asked the waitress if our meal would be much longer and she rudely told us that once she gives it to the cook she has no idea how long it will take. One of my daughters ordered the ham and eggs and the ham slice was still partially frozen. I had to get up and walk to the kitchen to find someone to complain to. The took her piece of ham and put it back on the grill and brought it out several minutes later. So we had to wait while she finished her breakfast. I had to go to the bar to get a refill on my drink. We visit Munising annually and all I can say is we will never visit Dogpatch again. read more

We loved this place - fish buffet with shrimp -my kids ate a couple lbs of the peel and eat shrimp and my hubby ate a couple lbs of the 4 kinds of fish... Service was slow and they make you pay your bill at the gift store (not fun with 4 little kids with you) but good food! read more

Gross! Wow just ordered a hamburger and I asked for mayo. They brought me what I thought was mayo but instead it was miracle whip....which I cannot stand! The food wasn't worth the price. The only thing that was good was the soup. The tarter sauce tasted old.

The food here was embarrassingly bad. We got the seafood/salad bar once we heard there was perch included. Unfortunately, the perch was overcooked and tasteless, as was the whitefish. There was also a seafood pasta that was so thick it was basically inedible. The hush puppies were cold and the green beans were gray and from a can. The "salad bar" was pitiful--chunks of wilting iceberg lettuce, some bacon bits, some brown-edged broccoli, among very few other choices. About the only thing I enjoyed was the nice IPA I had from Stevens Point brewery. Reading the stupid cartoon-covered menu, I felt sorry for people who speak English as a second language trying to decipher it. And the Li'l Abner cutouts are just annoying, full of backwoods stereotypes from 75 years ago. I wonder if the restaurant even has permission to use these images and the Dogpatch name from the original comic strip. Two stars only because the service was friendly. I felt sorry for the long line of customers waiting as we left. One of them actually asked me if it was worth the wait. Nope! read more

All in all the food was pretty good. This is just an odd place from the decor to the menu. The salad bar was fresh although not unique. The food came very quickly and the fried chicken dinner was one of the best I ever had. Get over it and try it! read more
