When I arrived, the receptionist greeted her as much as me. She was so warm and inviting that my dog (who had just been shivering scared in the car just minutes prior) actually started to walk in the back on her own, almost. Less than two hours later, they called and said she was ready. When I picked her up she didn't seem traumatized. She was happy, fluffy and trimmed where I mostly wanted- her ears and feet. I'm fact, I was surprised how small her feet are without all the extra hair. Also, it was $70! She's about 55- 60lbs. A note on the door stated that if you pick up dog more than an hour after getting the call that your dog is ready, you will be charged $20 per additional hour. I imagine that could be issue with people working or trying to get errands or kids managed. I didn't think to ask the name of her groomer. I did notice that there were 4 grooming stations. They commented that today was a slow day but I imagine it can get pretty loud and busy.

We had a life altering experience with Canine Obedience College…read morethat nearly cost us our young puppy's life and severely damaged us both emotionally and financially. Our healthy 7 month old golden retriever puppy, Oliver, was dropped off on the night of Friday, August 13th for their 2 week "bootcamp" program to attempt to correct his typical puppy tendencies. By Monday August 16th, just 3 days later, Oliver was rushed to the dog 24/7 emergency veterinary by Canine Obedience College where Oliver was fighting for his life. Oliver ended up staying at the 24/7 emergency vet for 8 days and was treated for heat stroke which developed under the care of Canine Obedience College. Months later Canine Obedience College has taken no responsibility for the incident described below and has simply stopped communicating with us after attempts to come to an agreeable conclusion to the incident.We cannot express more emphatically how disappointed we are in Darryl, Lisa, and Canine Obedience College as a whole for what they have put us through and the financial damage they have caused us. Please do not put your dog at risk by entrusting their well being in the care of Canine Obedience College. Upon being notified by Canine that Oliver was rushed to the emergency vet we scrambled to get there as soon as possible that night. We were absolutely devastated and shocked when they brought Oliver into the room to see us on a stretcher, unable to move or lift his head, and barely able to open his eyes. Oliver arrived at Premier soaking wet, latterly recumbent (unable to move), non responsive, with skin lesions, critical dehydration, and severe hyperthermia (dangerously overheated body). During Oliver's roughly 72 hour stay at Canine boot camp the only communication we received prior to the night Oliver was hospitalized was "Did good." and "He is a cutie! Seems a little nervous right now. Drinking a lot of water." after asking twice how Olver was doing. What they neglected to tell us was that Oliver did not eat the entire time he was there (except a few treats) and that he had been vomiting since the second day in their care. Not only did they not disclose the events leading up to Oliver's near death to us, but they did not follow up on Oliver's status after the first couple of days or if Oliver ever made it home from the hospital. Oliver was treated at Premier Veterinary Orland Park with every possible solution and treatment they could provide until Wednesday August 18th, when the medical team recommended Oliver be transferred to MedVet Chicago. MedVet is like the Northwestern of animal hospitals, at MedVet Oliver had the best possible treatments he could receive. He had been seen by every specialist in the building, tested for every possible underlying cause (all negative), and received around the clock care. Oliver had his ups and downs at MedVet, but he began to attempt to eat and drink a little bit by his 3rd or 4th day onsite. From there he slowly began to be able to sit up, stand, and even walk with all vitals improving. By Tuesday August 24th, 8 days after first arriving at Premier emergency vet, Oliver was discharged to home care on 8 different oral medications, 2 ointments, and a couple of IV bags if needed. Needless to say it was a long couple of weeks of at home recovery. Oliver was diagnosed and treated for suspect heat stroke causing multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. After all of these events unfolded and Oliver was home on a track to full recovery, we sent an email of the entire situation to Canine and asked for compensation for Oliver's medical care. They ignored emails until days or weeks later and multiple texts/emails were sent asking for a response. They finally responded asking for more info from the vets and we provided them with all of the reports, diagnostics, and invoices. They then referred us to their insurance company (tacit admission of guilt), who denied their claim as they did not have insurance coverage for this. They then immediately said it was not their fault and would not compensate us in any way. To this day, Canine Obedience College has not responded to our multiple letters sent over a month ago, emails, phone calls, or texts. While legal action has been contemplated, we are a young couple trying to save up for our first home and cannot afford the risk of potentially losing even more money. We cannot express more emphatically how disappointed we are in Darryl, Lisa, and Canine Obedience College as a whole for what they put Oliver through and for the financial damage they have caused us. Please do not put your dog at risk by entrusting their well being in the care of Canine Obedience College and please feel free to share Oliver's story so we can help prevent this from happening to other dogs going forward

We moved from California recently, where we were loyal clients of Wag Hotels in West Los Angeles and Santa Monica. Naturally, I was relieved to discover a Wag Hotels location right in my new Chicago neighborhood. Unfortunately, my experience here has been completely different--and, frankly, extremely disappointing. Concerns: * Strong odor of dog waste: The lobby consistently smells overwhelmingly of dog waste. If the front area smells this way, it raises serious concerns about the cleanliness of the actual play areas. It's disheartening to see management responses on other reviews claiming they "take cleanliness seriously" when my experience, every single visit, says otherwise. This probably explains why I have to give my dog a bath after every daycare stay....he is filthy and smells like he's been swimming in a pool of pee when he comes home. * Lack of compassion for the dogs: During one of Bowie's stays, I called to check in and was told he seemed quiet and anxious. I asked if someone could simply pet or comfort him for a moment, as he loves human contact. The staff member told me they could not, citing that it would show "favoritism" and cause other dogs to bully him. Not only is this explanation puzzling (especially given I've witnessed staff picking up and doting on other dogs), it also suggests a lack of individualized care for dogs who may need extra reassurance. * Alarming handling by staff: One evening around 8:10 pm, I arrived to pick up my dog. While waiting to be buzzed in, I heard dogs barking in the back behind the employee entrance --followed by a male staff member screaming at the top of his lungs, "shut the f*** up." When I brought this up to the front desk, the staff denied hearing anything and refused to share who was working with the dogs. I called the next morning and spoke to the manager, Janette, who thankfully took this seriously and promised to address it. Still, it's unsettling to know individuals who clearly lack the patience or temperament for this job are in charge of our dog's wellbeing. * Inconsistent staff communication: There seems to be very little consistency in how staff are trained. I've received different answers to the same questions from multiple employees--ranging from pricing details to basic policies. This inconsistency is confusing and does not inspire confidence. What they do well: * 24/7 staff coverage: Unlike many local daycares that leave the facility unattended overnight (only monitoring via cameras), Wag Hotels has staff on-site around the clock. This was a major factor in choosing them initially. * Cameras for owners: They offer cameras in the play areas so owners can check in throughout the day--something not all Chicago daycares provide. Final thoughts: As valuable as those pros are, they aren't enough for me to continue bringing my dog here. I ultimately finished out my pre-paid package because refunds weren't an option, but I'm grateful I can share a balanced, multi-visit perspective rather than a single one-off experience. I feel that it's unfair to not share my experience with others so they can make their own choices. I had 2 dogs and one was a very selective dog, meaning he didn't get along with all dogs he met. Miranda was referred to us by a friend whose dog had similar issues. When we met Miranda to see her facility, I asked her if she would be cresting the dogs when she left the building. (I asked this for a reason) she told me that if they were not crated at home, she would not crate them and they could just stay in her living space. It turns out that Miranda was crating my dogs together when she left them and that is ultimately what led to my dogs death. My selective dog could not be crated with any other dogs. If he was and anything triggered him, he would redirect onto another dog in his crate, even his brother and they would fight. This happened so Miranda came home and found that my dogs had a fight in their crate. She took the selective dog, Carson out to bathe him and ultimately left him unattended in the sink, tethered to the wall. He then tried to jump out of the sink and you can imagine the rest. We left for the weekend with 2 dogs and came back having only one.

Marcellus is his normal self no nicks on his little chunky body at all and he looks great! Reasonable prices I'd say especially when you know your cat is capable of biting. The wait wasn't long at all we dropped off went to do some errands and when we got a call about two hours later to pick up which was perfect timing. We have boarded our old dog and current dog at this hotel since they opened as Paradise 4 Paws. We…read morehad no issues at all when it was Paradise 4 Paws, but since it was bought out by Wag Hotels, everything went downhill quickly. My current dog (large german shepherd mix - around 100lbs) came back smelling like urine after a 5 day stay - we had him groomed before his stay so there is no reason why he should have smelled this way after being boarded for 5 days. (side note - before it was bought by Wag Hotels, this place offered all day play for dogs and we were told we would be grandfathered into that on our account but after one stay, that option disappeared - it was just 2 one-hour play sessions and anything beyond that would be an additional charge). What's worse than the dog coming home smelling like urine is that the last two stays (one was for a week and the other was for 5 days), I got a call from the hotel while on vacation telling me that my dog was being aggressive toward other dogs. While my dog is big and a loud barker, he is not aggressive - he is playful but not aggressive at all. This second time, Wag decided to take him out of play group and do "special care play" (not sure of the official name of this option) which is one on one "play" with a human - based on the handful of photos we received, not sure there was any play involved, and this is an additional $55 daily charge on top of the already pricey overnight boarding charge that is $70 on weekdays and even more on weekends and holidays. It's funny and so coincidental that our dog never had any behavior issues at this hotel prior to it being bought out by Wag Hotels and all the additional fees they have invented. And now suddenly our dog needs special care to the tune of an additional $55 per day? Needless to say, we will not be returning and will not recommend this facility for daycare or boarding for any pet.
