Came here for a Sunday brunch and can say that this is a really good spot. Staffs great, ambiance is nice (birds fly in and out of the restaurant which is pretty cool) and the food is amazing! They do not do refills on drinks, we were told that after getting a few refills on OJ which was not cool but it is what it is. Would come back!

Great stop for a quick casual bite. Open floor plan with an ocean breeze gives a very relaxed vibe. Food is delicious and quality is there, just need to come back to try out the rest of the menu! Recommend coming early to get a table, as it does fill up in the morning.

Oh my, the food and vibe are very good and they have easy parking. Let's start with the not so great. Came on a Sunday at noon. My husband and I didn't know what to do. Do we take a seat, order first then get a number and take a seat, have someone seat us??? Lots of questions. My husband got in line thinking he would order. I finally just asked some people eating if they were seated or just grabbed a table (I don't recommend doing this, but I didn't see the staff) and they said we just sat. I sit at a table and finally someone comes over to me and says I need to put my name on a list and not sit at the table so customers can sit there (of course). All that to say, I wish there was a sign on what to do on the weekends as it was awkward and kind of embarrassing. Now the good part. We got our name on the list and were seated rather quickly. Our waitress was amazing and we started to feel all the love. I got a vanilla latte. It was just ok. But then the food came!!! I ordered the steak egg sandwich and my husband ordered the steak and eggs. Not exaggerating...that was the best steak sandwich I've ever had! We live in San Diego but when I visit my sister in Laguna Beach I think I'll have to pick up a steak sandwich every time. Oh and the hot sauce!!! If they could sell it, I'd buy many bottles. All that to say, I'll be back many times!

As my surfing brothers in Dana Point would say: "YUM TO THE MAX, DUDES!!" I've been coming to what is now the Incredible Doheny Cafe since before it WAS the Doheny Cafe - given it is conveniently right next door to the laundromat that I frequent every couple of weeks. I can surf the web, enjoy excellent coffee and baked goods - and breakfast - get my online work done and basically hang out while the washing machines and dryers do their thang!! Today my guide Tuesday recommended the breakfast burrito - and I'm so glad I followed her recommended dish. THANKS, TUESDAY!! Food = Great Service = Even Better Ambiance = Calm, cool & Chill See ya next week!!

Stopped by Doheny Cafe while cruising around Dana Point hunkering for some good ol' fashioned breakfast fare. This welcoming spot is a great beach cafe vibe with a slightly sophisticated feel. Plenty of parking out front in this strip retail area in Dana Point. You'll notice the indoor / outdoor open space feel, with plenty of comfortable tables and seats throughout a Southern California surf motif. The staff is extremely friendly, a well-oiled machine churning out some outstanding breakfast items to eager customers. On this weekday morning, my girlfriend and I decided to reward ourself with some delicious items to munch. We both had some hot tea with honey to start. While she opted for the much healthier Breakfast Burrito, I went with the Banana Waffles. Our order came out quite quickly, and looked beautifully prepared. My two Banana Waffles arrived with sliced bananas, pecans, honey and maple syrup. My girlfriend's Breakfast Burrito (scrambled eggs, cheddar, potatoes) was paired with a healthy green salad. I snagged a bite of my girl's burrito. It was quite good. Chalked full of hot eggs, cheddar and diced potatoes, the tortilla wrap was grilled to a tee and sealed in the delicious ingredients. The accompanying sour cream and salsa verde was also a nice touch. My Banana Waffles were top notch. Soft and fluffy, with a great drizzle of honey, chopped pecans and bananas were simply effective. Only have a dusting of powdered sugar and an accompanying real maple syrup is always respected and appreciated. It wasn't a huge amount of food, but just the right amount to enjoy for a medium-sized appetite. The Cafe was full by 11:00am, with what seemed to be a lot of locals. The vibe is definitely laid back, relaxing and fun. The food and service are great and you won't be disappointed with anything on the menu. Surf's Up!

This place had a nice vibe! Place was nicely located and setup. The server was fast and attentive. We were in spring break so took the kids with us. We had the Honey Latte and Vanilla Latte which tasted amazing! The kids had the homemade lemonade with a nice crisp tarte flavor. I had the steak and Eggs plate and wife had the Waitress plate and the kids shared the plate The Big Boy Waffle plate which was enough for two! They sure enjoyed it. Everything tasted amazing! We enjoyed our meal for sure! Highly recommend!

We've been here a few times. This is the same owner as Maison cafe and if you've been to both, you definitely see the resemblances. With that said, both spots are excellent. You'll usually get good service with solid food. Doheny cafe specially has a few good breakfast dishes and they do a good job of getting people in and out. I posted a few of the meals we ordered and we've tried other things on the menu as well. It's worth checking out if you're going to doheny for the day or just in the area. Cheers!

From the same owners as Maison Cafe and Giana's of course Doheny would hit it out of the park. My son and I had lunch there and enjoyed it very much. Great service, nice "inside-outside" feel with the open doors it was just the right place for a quick and good lunch. I had the quesadilla the was tasty and filling. For sure I will be back for a breakfast or lunch.

Unfortunately, this restaurant disappointed. There were four of us, and we all ordered coffee and entrees. Although the staff were very kind, it took almost an hour for our food to come out before ordering. They brought us pastries to make up for it, which was very appreciated, but at the end of the day, the wait was a little crazy given that the restaurant wasn't too busy. Im thinking maybe they were understaffed? Once I received my food, I started eating, and found three hairs in my food. It was quite good, but the hairs were not worth it after the wait. Additionally, we were sweating because there's no AC, and it's an open room. There was also no stevia for coffee. If anything, though, the food was good. The breakfast sandwich was huge and the berries were yummy. The pastries were great, and everyone else at the table enjoyed their food. Thankfully, they comped our food and drinks. The staff was kind and we appreciated their efforts to improve the experience, but we won't be heading back.

SO GOOD! i definitely recommend coming here :)) me and my group are doing a little stay-cation and we were coming down from glendale, and honestly we didnt know where to get our breakfast for one of the days and didnt want to eat at the hotel. We ended up deciding on this place and we are glad we did, the food is so good!! I love that all of the ingredients are clean and the food tastes fresh. service was great! the people working are super chill and attentive. the ambiance is super laid back and i love the layout of the place. I like that its an open space so feeling the morning breeze while we ate was nice

Such a cute little cafe spot in Dana point. It's also within walking distance to the Doheny beach! We walked in for breakfast and put our name down for a table. It was pretty busy on Sunday. However we waited a few minutes and got called for an opening to sit at the bar which we gladly accepted. Service was friendly and once we got our drinks, one of the girls noticed we had been waiting a bit for our food and kindly offered us a cookie. Once the food came, everything was great and we left satisfied!

She went above and beyond in ways both big and small, and it made all the difference. Her space is absolutely beautiful. It has such an artsy, welcoming feel and was perfect for our 80 person reception. The lighting created a magical atmosphere, the sound system worked flawlessly, and the indoor outdoor flow gave guests room to mingle, relax, and celebrate comfortably. One of the most generous touches was allowing us to use her home for staging the bride and groom. That level of trust and hospitality meant so much to our family. Throughout the entire process, she was accommodating, helpful, and always available with a calm, reassuring presence. If you are looking for a venue with heart, creativity, and an owner who truly cares, this is it. We are so grateful for everything she did to make the celebration unforgettable.

We recently had the opportunity to DJ an event at The Fish Tank in Capistrano Beach (34233 Via…read moreSanta Rosa, Dana Point), and it immediately impressed us. Start with the owner. Cate is professional, responsive, and genuinely collaborative. Communication is clear. Load-in is organized. The space is clean and well maintained. When a venue runs this smoothly, it reduces friction for vendors and creates a better experience for clients and guests. That kind of operational competence doesn't happen by accident. The design is what makes this venue distinct. The short-throw projectors transform the walls into a fully immersive aquarium or fishbowl environment. It's not a novelty effect; it's a production tool. For weddings, the room can feel atmospheric and romantic. For corporate events, branded visuals wrap the space in a way that feels custom and high-end. Few venues at this size offer that level of visual flexibility. From an audio standpoint, the room performs extremely well. We run MagiCali, a Southern California mobile DJ company specializing in weddings and corporate events, and we evaluate every room through a production lens. We look at ceiling height, wall material, reflection patterns, power distribution, and how low-end energy travels across a dancefloor. We've worked in luxury ballrooms, outdoor coastal venues, private estates, and converted industrial spaces. The Fish Tank is one of the rare venues where you don't have to compensate for the room. Speeches are articulate and easy to understand. Dinner music sits comfortably without overwhelming conversation. When it's time to transition into dancing, the room holds energy evenly instead of creating hot spots or dead zones. That tells you the space was built and tuned with care. For clients, that technical quality translates into confidence. You don't have to worry about muddy sound during toasts or harsh reflections once the music turns up. The venue supports the event instead of fighting it. There are many event spaces in Orange County. Very few combine strong visual identity, flexible projection capability, solid acoustics, and hands-on ownership. The Fish Tank is an undiscovered gem, and for what Cate currently charges, it represents exceptional value. It would not be surprising to see this venue commanding significantly higher rates in the near future. If you're planning a wedding, private celebration, or corporate event in Dana Point or Capistrano Beach, this space deserves serious consideration. It's distinctive, technically sound, and professionally run -- exactly the kind of venue that allows a well-executed event to shine.

I (the bride) was working in the area when I stopped by Aventura Ocean Club by myself at first to check the venue out. I loved it so much I had to bring my now husband back as soon as we got back from a mini vacation and on that day, we secured the location. Just imagine an amazing view of the harbor and sailboats while feeling relaxed in a room that is modern, intimate and designed well. This venue is NOT old school like some weddings that we have all been to, its updated and amazing. Besides the view, another huge selling point is the largest wrap around balcony I have seen at a wedding. Aventura Ocean Club sets up couches, chairs, and a firepit outside for the guests to enjoy while they are not inside. We had our wedding on 8/10/2019 and we have nothing but great things to say about the venue. We got married at Heritage Park in Dana Point (Simone coordinated all of this) and had our reception at Aventura Ocean Club. I am still getting compliments to this day about the venue, the view, the decorations, the food, the grand entrance that we did (think sail boat entrance) and even the florals, DJ and photographer we used (all who came recommended from Simone). We could not have asked for a better wedding and we are truly pleased. It is obvious Simone cares about her clients and truly believes in marriage and happiness, she was wonderful to work with. A few helpful hints about this venue: 1. It is intimate but fit 100 people on the inside with no issue. 2. Your guests will rave about the sail boat grand entrance if you choose this option. 3. If you use their wedding package/coordinating services (which you should in a heartbeat) your event will look even better than you imagined but with your style through and through. 4. Simone/Aventura Ocean Club/Orange County Beach Weddings and all her recommended vendors will give you the wedding of your dreams. 5. This was in our price range where a lot of other beach/beachy/coastal venues were significantly more money and you had to do everything yourselves.

Alcohol must be purchased through the venue, but this did make planning easier for us, and we found the bartenders' service exceptional. When I spoke with the General Manager, he shook my hand aggressively, avoided eye contact, and spoke condescendingly. When my colleague, who is an executive for a prominent news channel, tried to calmly explain the complaints, GM made it evident he was not interested in receiving any sort of constructive feedback before we joined as members. Being an active member in the equestrian community, I was looking forward to recruiting more friends to join, as well. However, I would not waste time or money on a membership for such an outdated, rude, poorly serviced establishment. The ocean is free to look at and there are plenty of elegant restaurants to enjoy excellent food, quality service, and especially treat patrons with basic etiquette.
