I met a friend here and the staff were all so friendly and fun! I thought for sure this would be my new coffeeshop hang, especially for journaling or a lazy Sunday with my husband and the crossword. But by the time I left (90 minutes later), I had changed my mind. It was so ridiculously loud! The noise went way beyond the usual coffeeshop sounds of grinding beans, steam from the espresso machine, and the chatter of customers (which are all expected) . At one point, and I'm not exaggerating, it sounded like an airplane was landing inside the coffeeshop. A horrible, continuous, incredibly loud sound like a jet engine .... And it just wouldn't stop! It went on for several, several minutes. At one point my friend paused our conversation and said "My God, what is that?" It ruined our coffee date and made the experience so unpleasant that we just wrapped up our time together and left. To add insult to injury, when we got outside a car alarm was blaring. That is not Hattie's fault, of course, but it didn't change my impression that this is the loudest coffeeshop on earth. I've been to hundreds of coffeeshops, and I've never experienced a prolonged, wretched, grinding-engine sound like this before. I have no idea what it was. It was so bizarre. I had an Arnold Palmer and breakfast sandwich. The lemonade was too tart, but I could have added more sugar so that's not their fault. The sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich was meh, but the pastries looked great (although I didn't have one). Since the staff is wonderful and it is a convenient spot for me, I will go back on a nice day and try the patio. But I can't imagine I will ever try sitting inside again. If you want an Arabic/Turkish coffee experience, then this is your spot in JoCo. A nondescript spot in a strip center belies the authentic bazaar-style decor inside. The space is great, with plenty of tables and even a couple of cozy corner spots for that face-to-face convo opportunity. They have even placed a big TV so that World Cup matches can be viewed. But then there's the coffee. Their brew is rich and flavorful and their drink menu features spices such as cardamom to create distinctive, artisanal drinks. My wife opted for the 'Knafeh', a lovely latte with pistachio cream and vanilla, topped with grated pistachio. And WOW! is that a great drink! The flavors of the smooth vanilla marry perfectly the pop of the spiced coffee. Even their house brew is sublime. It is nutty and dark and exceptionally robust. Pair a cup of coffee, with one of their pastries, such as baklava or a lotus cookie (think speculoo cookies) and you have a fine representation of Turath: strong presence with an exquisite finish.

But I found this place today and they opened at 6. It wasn't busy at all so I ordered an got my drink within 2 minutes. I tried the iced honey nut cheerio latter which is really good. They don't make their drinks super sweet so ask for sugar if you prefer it sweet. Another thing I loved is that they have a drive thru. Last thing you want to do in the morning is get out the car, order, and then get back in the car. Unfortunately I was unable to go inside but it looked super cozy and spacious and their outdoor seating looked so cute, I loved the lights. I'll have to come back to try some pastries and drinks and actually go inside!
