My boyfriend and I FINALLY made it to 1888. It has been on my list for months and it's been hard as a teacher to get time to come. I ordered the Carrot Cake Latte and he ordered a drip coffee. For food I had a breakfast flatbread and he had a plain bagel. The latte was everything I had hoped it would be. It was delicious, sweet and so yummy. I want to try their other drinks including their Cherry London Fog. BF said his drip coffee was good but that tends to be where he sticks on drinks. For the food, the flatbread was good sized, I would opt to share if you're not good and hungry as I left about 1/3 or so. Now for the service. When ordering our drinks and flatbread the service was amazing. Note my BF wanted toast but they do not have an option other than to take avocado toast and take all the stuff off. No way was he paying $7 for plain bread. Later we found through their online that he could get a plain bagel so he went and ordered it. 20 minutes later and a few check ins they finally bring the bagel. The person at the desk did bring him a coupon for a free drink that expired back at the end of 2025 so we are hoping they will still take it when we go back because it does not look promising. Other than this the service was good. I won't take a star off for this blip. The ambiance has not changed from the previous place but it was nice, clean and fairly quiet. I think it could get loud when really full but there were several people around and it was still a nice calm environment. We will be back for sure. read more

Lovely atmosphere and great service. The Key Lime Pie Matcha was a wonderful mix of sweet and tart while still being light - and a fan favorite according to the barista. My husband and I split the pesto flatbread, which we quickly devoured. The balsamic nicely balanced the heaviness of the cheesy flatbread. The environment is easy to work in with light traffic and low noise. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a spot to work during the week. read more

I had the banana bread iced latte with oat milk, and I LOVE banana coffee so I try them anywhere it's offered, I'd say this was definitely in my top 5 best ones I've had! Grabbed lunch at 1888 with some friends. The place is very cute. We ordered at the counter and then found a table. It was difficult to hear when our orders were called. I got a grilled cheese and it was just ok. I would definitely order something else if I were to go back. I'm wondering if their breakfast items are better than lunch. read more

I kept hearing good things about 1888 and when I finally routed myself here I was pleasantly surprised that it replaced Mother Earth Coffee as it was so nice to have a coffee shop in this spot. First things first, the coffee is great, and I had an easy time connecting to their wifi. I stayed and worked for a while and I'd definitely consider doing it again. The only reason I'm going with 4/5 is because the restrooms are around the corner and require a key to enter. I get it, it appears to be a shared space for the restrooms, but coffee tends to just run through me like water so it becomes a nuisance to ask a few times to use the key if you're working for a bit. I'd see if they could eventually replace with a code that refreshes or shows up on the receipt of your drink to make it easier for paying customers and baristas. Overall though, I'll certainly be back, but probably more for a quick stop than a long work stay. read more

Okay, I thought I had my top 2 coffee favorites locked down...and then I tried 1888. My goodness you all are good! I went out on a limb and tried the Dr Pepper Latte (iced) and the bacon breakfast burrito and OOOOOOOOO they are both crazy good. It's right next to Bliss Books, so the perfect day would be to go to 1888 then over to read. There is a good amount of room to work, read, eat or whatever you need to do. It's a beautiful space with super helpful employees. You know you find a good one when you tell someone that it's your first time in and their eyes light up and they get excited to tell you about what they have, and that was my experience there. Named for the year that George Kessler was commissioned to design Hyde Park; 1888 goes for a late 19th and early 20th century vibe with memorabilia from those eras scattered about the large space. Lots of room with natural lighting and an assortment of seating options inside and patio make 1888 a good place to meet-up or get some work done. I ordered from the specialty menu - Velvet Caramel iced. A nice beverage for a hot day and for spending $9 w/tax for a beverage it should be. The baristas could be a bit more friendly / welcoming but they weren't rude. Street and garage parking available. read more

This place is busy busy busy, but I can see why. It's deceptively small looking but there are actually quite a few tables - most of them with electrical outlets. A nice cozy decor here - lots of natural light but with dark furniture - so not too bright and not too dark. Hi everyone, It's me again and I just have to shout out 1888 Coffee House! Their matcha is by far my favorite as they've consistently delivered amazing drinks every single time. I've been there almost every day this week because it's just that good! Not only do they have incredible matcha options for me, but their coffee keeps my boyfriend coming back as well. Today, in addition to our usual order, we tried the Strawberry Matcha and it was good! It reminded us of Neapolitan ice cream with that sweet strawberry flavor mixed throughout. Personally, I'm more of a fresh strawberry fan, but we still enjoyed it. That said, the Toasted Coconut Matcha is hands down the BEST I've had. Walking in your greeted with a very cozy atmosphere with comfy places to sit and an overall great vibe! I ordered the Tiramisu latte and had to wait about 20 minutes as it was very busy which I completely understand, I had gone another day and ordered the same drink although this time it wasn't busy and waited just as long. Although the coffee was delicious I believe over $9 for a coffee is outrages no matter where you go! I would understand that price more if the syrups were made in house but they're Monin. Seeing as it is a local spot and I believe in supporting that aspect I do recommend even though it is pricey!
