I had decided to order some Valentine's day cookies for my girlfriend, but I noticed that there are hardly any great cookie shops (if any at all) in the East Bay. Thanks to Yelp, I was able to find Dolce de Luca and make a last-minute purchase of a dozen cookies just in time for the holiday. All I had to do was text Gabriella my order and she sent over an invoice just as quickly. Since she doesn't have a permanent store, she'll meet you anywhere she can at no extra cost. Conveniently, she met me a few minutes away from my apartment in Pleasant Hill. Gabriella is super sweet, super punctual, and makes the best cookies I have ever eaten in my life! I had ordered snickerdoodle, chocolate chip, and sugar cookies (which she beautifully decorated in the cutest heart-shaped fashion). The cookies were amazingly soft and chewy, not too sugary, and of course, delicious! She does a baker's dozen, so she'll throw in another spectacular cookie for free if you order 12. Thank goodness for yelp because I would never have found this absolute gem of a bakeshop. I have to be honest...I use Yelp all the time, but I never leave reviews. I'm pretty sure this is my first Yelp review ever, and Gabriella deserves it! I stumbled upon her business while scrolling through Yelp, desperately trying to put together a last minute party for my son's first birthday. I actually contacted multiple businesses trying to order cupcakes, but all of them either could not accommodate me on such short notice or did not respond at all. With only three days notice (and it being the week before Thanksgiving, no less!), Gabriella agreed to bake four dozen cupcakes for us. In hindsight, I am so glad that she was the one to respond. We ordered three flavors: funfetti, lemon curd, and snickerdoodle. They were all DELICIOUS!! Moist, fluffy, and the perfect ratio of frosting to cake. It was way too easy to eat more than one in a sitting. I didn't dare ask for any custom decorations with it being such a last minute order, but even then, the cupcakes were beautiful. It was obvious that each one was frosted with care. The funfetti cupcakes were a huge hit with our guests, especially the kids. It was definitely better than the signature SusieCakes funfetti, which has too sweet a frosting in my opinion. SusieCakes used to be my go-to cupcake spot, but no more since I've discovered Dolce De Luca Bake Shop! I love lemon-flavored anything, and the lemon curd cupcakes were fantastic. The lemon curd filling was the perfect balance between tangy and sweet, and the lemon zest dusted over the frosting was a lovely touch. The snickerdoodle cupcake was surprisingly my favorite. It was a cinnamon vanilla cake topped with a silky vanilla bean frosting, dusted with a little cinnamon sugar. SOOO GOOD. Many of our guests complimented the cupcakes and wanted to know where we ordered them. I fully plan on ordering cupcakes again from Gabriella, the sooner the better. It's wonderful to be able to support a small business like hers; I hope she is able to open up a storefront someday so that I can walk in any time and buy a cupcake just because I'm craving a sweet treat--rather than ordering a whole dozen at a time, which would be awesome for my soul but sad for my waistline. I can't wait for our next party or celebration...Going forward, I will be on the lookout for any excuse to order (and devour!) more of these cupcakes! read more

Holy chocolate heaven! Got a triple chocolate cake (chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, raspberry jelly/chocolate frosting filling, and chocolate ganache drip on top) from Gabriella and it was so good! Gabriella responds really fast and was able to take a somewhat short notice order (a couple weeks out). Her pricing is very reasonable for the area. I've been to a lot of bakeries and she charges about the same price as most of them but you get easily 30% more cake. This 6 inch was stacked a solid 6 inches high. Also, it might just be that I ordered so heavy on the chocolate, but this cake is very rich/dense. I like that a lot, but something to bear in mind if you want the same flavor combo I ordered. The 6inch cake I got would comfortably feed 12 people. I forgot to take a pic of the cake but it's on her most recent instagram post (says happy 27th birthday).
