I'm writing this review with a slice of this glorious pizza in my left hand because this review could not wait. $20 for this was fantastic! Ever since I got back from Italy there was always something about pizza I could always find wrong with in Virginia Beach. This is the best pizza I've had in this area hands down. We got a pizza to-go called the Pie-za. The sausage was 10/10, cheese was epic, ricotta was FIRE this was a great addition to this pie 10/10, and crust was perfect... including the crust. Little local pizzeria was in the mood for some good fettuccine Alfredo when I looked at the reviews this place came highly recommended so I decided to give it a try. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted. The young lady was very, very friendly and super knowledgeable. It appears a lot of locals go there quite a few people were sitting waiting for their order. It was a very busy night for them, which is always a good sign. I decided I want to give their fettuccine Alfredo a try. I added chicken and I also had to order a slice of cheese pizza. You always have to try a slice of pizza from a local pizzeria. Let's start with a slice of pizza very good thin crust just like I like it cooked to perfection now moving on to the fettuccine Alfredo. The noodles were slightly overcooked, but the Alfredo sauce was very very good. I think if I order it again, I would skip the chicken but all in all I would order it again and go back and visit them . I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo dinner which came with a salad and bread. The portion sizes are very good enough for where I can have lunch the next day, which is always a good thing for me so if you're ever in the neighborhood, I highly recommend you give them a try. Granny and I took three grandchildren at 6:30 on a Friday, a busy time. We were greeted and seated promptly by Kim. Drink orders were placed and quickly delivered. 5 seconds later, the youngest spilled her full pink lemonade all over the floor and table. They quickly mobilized and took care of the cleanup. I would love to give a higher rating. I think this establishment is very cute and the staff is friendly. However, the pizza is a bit undeveloped. Too soggy I would say. When holding up the pizza it should be firm, not flop down. I even put my slice on the air fryer a bit to cook it a bit more. I've now visited Dolcinea on three occasions. I've done one takeout trip and two in restaurant dinings. I'll start by saying that I'm an Italian food snob. I am not only Italian but we cook a great deal of homemade Italian food weekly. The food at Dolcinea has not let me down yet. I've been satisfied with the flavor, quantity and quality every time. I'll start with the Alfredo. I make Alfredo 2-3 times per month from scratch down to shredding our own Parmesan cheese imported from Italy. Dolcinea's alfredo is creamy and cheesy just the way it's supposed to be. Garlic flavoring does not overpower their sauce. It's a very well balanced Alfredo sauce that they make in house and you can tell immediately that it's not coming out of any kind of prepackaging. While I prefer my at home Alfredo it costs me about 5x as much to make the sauce for 3 than their entire portion costs after tax. It's a really great dish and you can add protein to it for a very reasonable price. It's good enough I'd stop making it myself if my wife would let me. The portion size is also pretty big, I think you'd be hard pressed to not be satisfied by the amount and quality of food you're getting with this dish. My 3 year old daughter has had the kids spaghetti as well. The tomato sauce is rich and hearty. It has good balanced flavor with a rich profile. We added meat to it and the meatballs and ground beef in general here have great flavor and complement the sauce very well. I was blown away by the portion size for a kids meal item. She ate well which is rare for her and I ended up eating what was left for lunch the next day. If you like a good tomato sauce you'll likely enjoy this dish as well. Both my daughter and I really enjoy the pizza. It's thin and not over sauced. My personal favorite is half cheese and half meatball. This is also the only restaurant my daughter has ever even tried a piece of pizza that wasn't strictly cheese. On our last visit she stole my pizza and ate most of it and I ended up eating the kids Alfredo we had ordered for her. If you like a thin pizza it's a must try. My mother is the most difficult to please. She's enjoyed all three of our visits and most recently she sampled the steak Philly. She really enjoyed the sandwich and once again it was a big portion. She was only able to eat half of it and really enjoyed having the other half for a lunch the next day. I'll add the fries were very good and had a good amount of crisp. I did not try the sandwich myself but my mother really enjoyed it. Overall here you're going to get great flavor and quality combined with a good portion size. We feel this place is a great value for the money compared with a lot of other options in the area. The pasta dishes are far superior to what Primo now offers. The Alfredo for sure really is multiple levels better than at Primo which is nearby. It is not only better in flavor but in quality and price. You can't go wrong giving this small family owned restaurant a shot. read more

First meal after not being able to eat solid food for a couple of days. Ordered a pie with meat balls the wife had a club sub with fries. She said it was good, I can't really speak to that. My pizza was good, close to NY style, the way I like it. It didn't have any oil on top, so it seemed a little dry. The crust was good. We dipped it into the leftover balsamic from the caprese. I ate 3 slices and wound up taking the other 5 home where they reheated nicely on a pizza stone and made a convient dinner the next day. Dolcinea is not fancy, but the food is good. We felt so welcomed and appreciated, and inspired by their story. And the pizza, OMG! Having lived four years in Naples, Italy, I set the bar pretty high, and Dolcinea delivers with distinction! Everything was amazing, the crust, the sauce, the toppings, the love imparted into every slice (an Italian requirement), I can't say enough about how much we loved everything. A real hidden treat! It's a small restaurant but the food is excellent. I had the best alfredo sauce in a restaurant at this place. Seriously yummy. I ordered it with the fried chicken choice and was totally blown away - such flavor. My husband was delighted with his spaghetti and meatballs. I will admit the ranch dressing was a disappointment but you can order entree only and it's cheaper. The pizzas are very tasty and the prices are quite reasonable. Give it a try. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly. We ordered a pizza (made our own with meatballs and ricotta), garlic bread, and a side salad. It was plenty to split between me and my husband. Everything we ordered was AMAZING! The pizza had a crispy crust, the meatballs on top were delicious, and it was a great size for the cost. It was great not having to pay extra for ranch! This was our first time trying this place. It's right beside The Outback Steakhouse. The food is AH-MAZING! We ordered Bruschetta for an app and we both ordered meatball subs and we shared a side of fries. Service was wonderful! Our server was extremely friendly. They make most of their food fresh. The meatballs on the subs are also made fresh. You can tell from first bite they're not frozen. Food is priced fairly. Small restaurant but overall pleasant atmosphere. The owner went around and spoke to every single table and explained their menu and made polite conversation which I thought was great.
