We stopped by Chesapeake pizza tonight for dinner. They are located on South Battlefield Boulevard in the Great Bridge section of Chesapeake. Before we even walked in we could smell the delicious pizza being cooked in their oven. This is a classic pizza place and it's reminiscent of the places that I used to visit when I was much younger, say after the high school football game was over. The salad was good and the ingredients were fresh. I really enjoyed the Italian dressing as well. The Chesapeake Pizza Special was loaded with fresh ingredients and the pizza crust was delicious. I think next time I ask for a slightly crispy crust but I have no complaints with what came out. We really enjoyed ourselves here, and we are already planning another visit soon. This is my grandparents favorite location pizza spot. We ordered to-go last time I visited and it was pretty good. I personally wasn't a fan of the crust but sauce was good and good amount of toppings. Pizza was ready on time, and the worker on the phone was nice. I'm visiting family from NYC, and they took me out to Chesapeake Pizza. If you have a nostalgia for the 80s Pizza Huts, this is the closest thing around, but there are no juke boxes or Arcade games. Pizza is fresh and delicious. Also, we arrived on a Friday night and the place was packed. The waiting list moved fairly well and the staff who work here are very friendly, helpful and professional. Well, they got us again. Tried to go in for dinner and they closed early. They have this saying that they use when they wanna close early, they say "sold out". I don't really know what that means. What did they sell out? The whole menu? Is every item on the menu sold out? This has happened four times to me at this restaurant. They need to change their hours online. If they want to close at 6 o'clock or 5 o'clock, why don't they just say we're only open till five or 6 o'clock? Why do they say they're open till eight and then continually turn people away? After more than 30 years coming here, I really do believe their pizza is the best around. I especially love that it's a local family restaurant and not a chain. However, some things have changed. They no longer can accommodate parties larger than 10 without splitting them up. The separate room in the past could accommodate our large parties over 10 but it does not. Also, their Chesapeake special pizza tastes the same, the crust seems a bit thinner. They frequently tend to run out of pizza early in the evenings on Fridays and Saturdays. The pizza here is pretty good. It is not a favorite among others, but I would definitely eat it again. My family and I dined here a few days ago and upon walking in, the parking lot was pretty full. We walked in and the restaurant has a sour smell to it. I was turned off, but fought the smell because my family wanted to eat there. Luckily, they chose an area to sit that I couldn't smell the awful smell too much, but it was a bit unsettling. The food arrived in record time. About 6pm, the large pizza dough was out so we were served 2 small pies to equal the large. We started with small salads and they were good and fresh - made to order. The pizza crust does have a hint of sweetness IMO. It's OK, but not a favorite. If you are in search of finding a good pizza spot, check them out, you may like this place. Plenty of parking. We had been driving all day from Savannah and we arrived in CoVA just in time for dinner. We asked my brother and sister-in-law where we could order to feed the fam. They immediately said Chesapeake Pizza (CP), which is a small family owned business that has been around since 1973! This is what we ordered! Family Special includes: 1 large pizza (up to 4 toppings); 1 sub (of choice) OR pasta dish; 2 large house salads (4 small sides of dressing included. We ordered an additional cheese pizza because we had a lot of mouths to feed. I loved the variety of the Family meal. I loved having the salad to balance out the carbs and cheese. We chose pepp, sausage, green peppers and onions for the pizza and chose Spaghetti and Meatballs for the pasta. We got 2 boxes full of salad. Everything was fresh and hearty. All generous portions! The Cheese Pizza was a hit with the kids. - TLC - The lady who took my order was quick and efficient and it was the same when picking up the order. - Heads Up - *Dine in and take out only *They can sell out and when they do, they close, hence the no answer on the telephone. The garlic bread is also delicious and comes with marinara. The sweet tea is good if you're into tea. The place is always clean too which is important in a restaurant. I honestly don't even know where to start. This place is *the* definition of disappointing. First off, the service was painfully slow. We were seated, and then ignored for what felt like an eternity. Our waitress seemed totally uninterested, and when she finally took our order, she didn't even write anything down. Guess what? She got the order completely wrong. The pizza? Wow, just wow. I've had better frozen pizza from the grocery store. The crust was bland and soggy, and it looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The cheese was rubbery and the toppings were scarce -- definitely not worth the price. And don't even get me started on the sauce, which tasted like it came out of a can. I've had better meals at chain restaurants, which says a lot. Oh, and the place itself? A total dive. It smells like grease and regret, and the decor looks like it hasn't been updated since the '90s. The tables were sticky, the floors were dirty, and the whole place had this uncomfortable, rundown vibe. Honestly, I don't know how this place stays in business. Called in a large cheese ($12) and pepperoni ($13) on a Friday at 12n, ready for pickup in 25 minutes. Heat hot with a good amount of sauce but a tad less cheese than I would have expected considering the breast pan-style crust. Again, a very good lunch meal that fed 4 people for under $30. CASH ONLY, NO CREDIT CARDS OR CHECKS! They do have an ATM in the foyer and will deduct the $1.50 service fee if you use it to make a purchase. Worked on my previous visit when I used it to buy a gift card for a co-worker/fellow pizza fiend! All I can say is that this place seems like your general family-friendly pizza restaurant. Upon entering, the place gave me vibes like I was about to eat at a pizza hut when most still had dining rooms. The service I got was really great and my server was really nice. The only downside was that she took her time to get back to me a couple of times. It was not busy there that day, and honestly, she could have moved a little bit faster. Also, I was not a big fan of it being cash only. In this day and age, more and more restaurants allow debit cards. I feel like that would be a very worthwhile investment at this place. When it comes to the food, I really liked it. The cheesy bread mixed with the bacon added it more flavor to me. Surprisingly, the pizza was very good. Love this place, great food, great service We got pepperoni pizza, Greek salad and a slice of cheesecake. Our waiter was a younger guy maybe right out of high school, he was amazing. Very attentive and took the time to talk legos with the kids in our group. When we had a drink spill he was right on helping clean it up and wasn't mad but very understanding with the kid and us; even took the time to tell the embarrassed kid that he was clumsy too and that when he goes out to eat he still puts his drink in the middle of the table.
