I was pleasantly surprised by this place. We so happen to be driving by and I saw 'homemade pasta' across their window and knew I wanted to eat there for dinner. We didn't have a reservation but I would highly suggest having one. Luckily, we were able to be sat right away, but there are a pretty limited number of tables here. The bruschetta appetizer was delicious and fresh. It comes with two pieces and is served on larger pieces of bread rather than smaller ones. I had the shrimp scampi for my entree and felt it was worth the price. The homemade pasta was delicious and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The lamb ragú dish was also very delicious and cooked perfectly. To finish the night we had the cannolis for dessert, which comes with one regular and one pistachio. Everything we had was absolutely delicious and is definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Service was amazing. The server and I lit up when I ordered Panna Cotta, just two girls gushing over dessert! Now to dinner.. The restaurant is cute, giving bistro and very clean. We shared a bottle of red, I had the lasagna and she had the seafood pasta, we thought the sauce was a bit sweet but so good nonetheless. Everything was plated beautifully and tasted fresh. We arrived early in the evening and the crowd started pouring in shortly thereafter, I find the Veranda Trattoria deeply romantic and wish them many years of success. While in the area, my daughter and I decided to grab some dinner at The Veranda Trattoria. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for quite a while, so I was very excited to finally dine in. Since we went on a Wednesday evening around 7pm, there was no wait at all and we were seated right away. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, it's filled with plants and greenery that make the space feel warm and inviting. Our server was super sweet and gave us plenty of time to look over the menu while bringing us some water. We started off with Lemon Drop Martinis, which were delicious, and decided to order the Chicken Parmigiana and the Lamb Ragu. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait long. Our food came out about 20 minutes after ordering. The Chicken Parmigiana was very good. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and the pasta was cooked just right. The Lamb Ragu was just as great. Even after I was full, I kept taking "just one more bite" because it was so tasty. The pasta is all homemade and you can definitely tell because it was absolutely delicious. If you're in the area and looking for a great Italian spot, definitely check them out!

Our first visit was amazing. The porcini mushroom soup was so full flavored. Not watery, not salty, not like a bique. It was just right. I had the blackened salmon, cooked perfectly. The rocket salad had the peppery arugula, pine nuts for crunch with tomatoes, freshly grated parmesan and the vinaigrette to balance. The roasted potatoes rounded out the dish. My husband ordered the pasta bolognese. OMG a mountain of freshly grated parmesan cheese topped the meaty mixed of beef, veal and pork with the tagliatelle. He was so happy that he devoured it. We finished our meal with the cannoli. It comes as one regular and on dipped in crush pistachios. Not too sweet, just creamy and crunchy and satisfying. This is a hidden gem that needs to be explored.

This spot has a very nice ambiance, perfect for a date night! It's not the most family-friendly though (they only had one high chair that was already being used). We started with the burrata which was delicious, but odd that it didn't come with bread (the plate was the cheese, prosciutto and tomato - it needed bread!). Bread was $2 which is annoying, especially when it only came with 4 small pieces that were just plain room temperature Italian bread, nothing fancy. My entree was lasagna which was tasty too, clearly homemade although I preferred my husband's dish of the lamb ragu. It was less heavy and I like a good shredded meat. I also tried my daughter's dish of buttered noodles which were also homemade and quite tasty. They clearly homemake their pasta which I appreciate! The lasagnas in our group made the dinner take a little long but that's to be expected when they make them to order. Definitely a good spot to come back to for a nice occasion!

Ambiance: 4 stars. Wish there is more seating available. Everything looks modern, only the bench cushions were a little less stylish as everything else . Service: 3 stars . The waiter came by once to take care of filling our water, although it's really self-service with a carafe of water left at each table. We weren't asked how things were for the entirety of our meal. They also charge a credit card fee when our bill was $80. Food: the only thing really noteworthy was the bruschetta appetizer. The lamb ragu was okay although the lamb leg was shredded. The steak was overly charred on the outside. The potatoes that came with the steak weren't seasoned well.

Another standout in the Norfolk area. This locally owned Italian restaurant has two employees. The owner chef's up authentic cuisine in view of the patrons as his partner manages the front of the house. Everything is housemade. Standouts include the Garlic Shrimp, Bolognese, and Lamb Chops. 4.4 stars

The Veranda was recommended to us, and it did not disappoint! They did everything right...the decor, the food and the service. Fresh flowers on the tables to the Lamb Ragu ... delightful! You must have one of their desserts, too!

The Veranda is nestled in a corner of a small shopping center that can easily be missed. It's a small space but offers excellent home made pasta dishes. The carbonara was delicious but it was a little too salty over time due to the bacon. The rigatoni was delicious and had plenty of sausages which made for spectacular dish. The lamb ragú was also tasty. It's all about the pasta here plus paired with delicious sausages and meat makes for a phenomenal experience in a somewhat intimate setting. The panna cotta was a great ending to the meal. Finally, there is a credit card service fee and some may think the place is expensive. Nonetheless, this is a great place to try.

The restaurant has a very unassuming exterior but don't let that fool you the food is delicious! I want to try more on the menu but my dish was so good I want to order it again! Definitely save room for the Tiramisu though!

We came in on a Friday night with out a reservation. They highly encourage reservations, however the server was accommodating and sat us down. Service 10/10 - we were amazed on how efficient they were running their kitchen in a three way service. Our food came timely and our server was a delight. Cocktails 10/10 - highly recommend the old fashion. The server whipped it up in two minutes and it was by far one of the best old fashion we've had. Food 10/10 I had the shrimp scampi and my husband had a lamb ragout and they're both equally delicious. Good portions, unfortunately we didn't have room for dessert.

Since I don't have a tremendous about of time to write this fully out, I'll be short & sweet! Food: Impeccably GREAT! Drinks: I suggest you order wine. Why? I ordered a Moscow Mule & my beautiful friend had a Mojito. They were both lackluster, but to this establishments credit, they allowed her to swap her drink for a refreshing glass of Cabernet. Decorum: It's low lighting, romantic & fantastic ambiance. They only take reservations, unbeknownst to us; however, they'll allow you to seat at their bar to order food & drinks. We were lucky there were 2 open seats at the bar. *Caution, there's only room at the bar for 4* In conclusion, we found this place to be phenomenal! Great for a date night or small group of adults & the food isn't pricey. I would've given them 5 stars if it wasn't for the mixed drinks. We'll definitely return soon!

We ventured to this place on a Friday night when the more "popular place" off Shore Drive had an hour and 45 minute wait for dinner. So glad we did! We called ahead to see how crowded they were (we were going to sit at the bar). When we arrived, they had a table saved for us!The place is small but tastefully decorated- like a country cottage. The pasta is homemade and amazing - even my no pasta eating husband loved it! However, there is no bread or salad served with the meal (we didn't ask for any). The service was great and attentive. The prices are right on track with other restaurants- dinner for 2 with alcohol was $125 - tip included. We will DEFINITELY drive past Shore Drive and head down Great Neck road back to this little gem. Side note- they also have coffees and breakfast.

I already knew this was my destination as I had been following them since they opened in VB. Upon our arrival we found the Cafe about a 1/4th of the way full so I had hopes for breakfast in a quiet setting. Even though there was a steady flow of traffic, we were able to dine in a relaxed setting without feeling rushed. I mention this because with it being a holiday weekend full of Jeepers, I fully expected them to be packed. The wait to order was too long as it left me staring at the pastry window so long I almost ordered one of everything however; I refrained from doing so but still bought 4 pastries, French toast & seasoned potatoes. Yes yes, alot of food for 1 person but I still had 2 days left in my visit and well, I have a thing for pastries. The pastries were: mango & passion fruit eclair, a pineapple muffin, lemon raspberry cake & profiteroles. I loved everything with the exception of the eclair. It wasn't anything against the eclair, it's just the mango/passionfruit mixture was just too passionate for my tastes. The muffin reminded me of my own homemade upside pineapple cake without all the brown sugar. It was light and buttery. The Lemon raspberry slice was delightful & not the least bit tart or too sweet. A mixture of both flavors without either one overpowering the other. The cake was super moist, perfect. The profiteroles were my favorite. They reminded me of that feeling I had the 1st time I tasted them while living in Italy. The choux perfectly baked and so delightfully light. The French toast was good enough without the side of syrup. The star for me of the breakfast items were the potatoes. I LOVED them. They were served HOT, seasoned just right with their insides softer that a baby bottom. I coulda just ordered 2 servings of those & bypassed the toast. All in all, well worth the wait. The folks were friendly, the Cafe clean and the seating plentiful and comfortable. I would recommend this place for both pastries & French toast & spuds.

Their prices are very affordable & reasonable, especially compared to other coffee shops in the oceanfront area. On my first visit, I ordered a hot caramel latte with almond milk and an iced white chocolate mocha latte, and both drinks together were just over $11. They were well-balanced and delicious. My Second visit I decided to try one of their seasonal drinks. I ordered a hot coconut drift latte with almond milk, my daughter a watermelon lemonade and a pup cup. I was really impressed with the service my dog received, as they made their pup cup from scratch! The drinks have consistently been high in quality and flavor on each visit. It's worth mentioning that they don't serve food, but they do offer some pre-packaged snacks for purchase. After he selected a cinnamon bun, I ordered it heated. A moment later, I added two more cinnamon buns for my husband and daughter. The cashier visibly rolled her eyes at what was literally a two-second delay in completing my order. I then ordered a coffee, a dark chocolate latte with almond milk, a cookie, and a gluten-free biscotti. My total was around $21, and I added a $5 tip. While my card was still processing, another customer walked in. The cashier repeatedly told me, "You're all set," even though the card reader had not finished processing my payment. The interaction felt rushed, as though I was being pushed aside for the next customer despite there being no line. While waiting for my order, the barista called out a "decaf latte with almond milk." Since I had ordered a dark chocolate latte with almond milk, I let her know it wasn't mine. The barista immediately appeared irritated and looked ready to dump the drink. The cashier then clarified that the ticket said "dark chocolate," not "decaf," and it became apparent that the handwritten order had been misread. The replacement drink was made while the barista loudly slammed equipment and banged metal tools around, making it very clear she was unhappy about having to remake it. The entire experience felt hostile and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, none of the employees were wearing gloves while handling food items, which raised concerns about cleanliness and food safety. Based on my experience, the customer service was poor, the atmosphere was unwelcoming, and the food handling practices were concerning. I wish I had read the reviews beforehand, as several other customers appear to have reported similar issues. There are plenty of coffee shops in the Virginia Beach area that value customer service. I'd recommend spending your money elsewhere.
