Dinner tonight was fantastic. My husband got the tortellini rustica and this is now his favorite dish. I think I still prefer the tortellini mannino but after trying the rustica it was a very hard choice (especially if you love sun-dried tomatoes). She crab soup does need to be discussed... still a wonderful flavor but what is up with it now being so watery? Still a must-have but I don't remember the consistency being so liquidy. Veal saltimbocca is fantastic but I do with I got the pasta as my side over the green beans. The green beans left much to be desired. If you like Cabernet Sauvignon- do yourself a huge favor and get the Mannino's Cabernet Sauvignon it is wonderful. $12 a glass for a house wine seems a little pricey but it's one of my favorite Cabs. As always, . Our server was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. She had shorter plantium blonde hair. I would be very happy to get her again. Being able to book a reservation on open table was a lifesaver! Can't wait to go back.

This Italian restaurant is so freaking amazing ! The crab martini was phenomenal, bread and whipped butter was superb, calamari with the spicy aioli and the lemon drop was the best! The server Cole was such a good server. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience is old town Italy. It gives warm and welcoming vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The crab soup was extremely delicious!

This place has gone downhill in my opinion. I used to come here often for their she-crab soup and delicious pasta, but sadly, our last experience was subpar. The soup, which has always been a popular favorite, seemed watered down this time. We made reservations conveniently through OpenTable, which was great. Our server, Maddie, was friendly, but it did take her a while to check on us several times throughout the meal. On the other hand, Noah, who was serving the table next to us, was very gracious and stepped in to help us out when we needed anything. Overall, it was disappointing compared to how it used to be.

This was my second time to Mannino's, and it did not disappoint! They had a great happy hour, so I got a glass of wine. The fried oysters were yummy and crunchy, my favorite sauce was the orange zesty sauce. It comes with a choice of sides, which we got a red sauce spaghetti and steamed vegetables. It was all so so good. The SOUP!!! This is one of the best crab soups that I have had. There were LUMPS of crab in the creamy goodness. Really good flavor. Do make a reservation!!! Their tables fill up fast with reservations! If it's only you or one other person, you can go without a reservation and wing it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We have sat at their full service bar twice now.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was great, the bartender was nice and made nice conversation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is nice and classy, a great place to celebrate a birthday or go on a date.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I am going to give this a solid 3 star middle of the road score. Positives- The service is very nice & accommodating. We made a reservation for a post graduation meal but ended up being done much earlier. They were able to move us up easily and with no fuss. Service was friendly and attentive. Ambiance is perfect. Nice enough to feel special but not so fancy that you feel out of place. Veal was delicious as was the she crab soup and gnocchi. The mozzarella chunks were a nice touch! Negatives- No special consideration for a special event dinner so that was a bit of a bummer. Pasta Pesto was extremely bland and boring. My Apollo Francesa was not good at all. You can't fry something & then put it into liquid. It makes it gummy & gross. It also had zero flavor. Do not recommend at all. So 3 stars because it was 50/50 on food.

The service here was outstanding. Carson was our waiter and he checked off all the boxes! The food was deeelish. My sister and I met our cousins from Pennsylvania and they were very impressed. So if you want a great meal with excellent service, go to manninos and be sure and ask for CARSON!

Girls night dinner at Mannino's was fantastic as always. While me and my girlfriend waited for our friend, we met our awesome waiter Cole!! Such a wonderful young man who gave us excellent service during our girls night dinner. We started with some fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic, the bread was so fresh and soft. The food was fantastic as always we ordered Scampi Franchese, Veal special and I got the Spaghetti side pomodoro with a meatball, that Pomodoro sauce is soooo good and meatball was huge and tender went very well with my dish. One girlfriend ordered the Scampi Francese with mushrooms, there were six huge shrimps that were lightly battered perfectly in a lemon wine sauce with huge slices of mushrooms. She graciously offered us a shrimp and oh my that shrimp was cooked perfectly and the sauce very delightful! My other girlfriend got the Veal Cutlet special: sauteed veal cutlets & cremini mushrooms in sherry gorgonzola cream sauce with a side of their vegetable special green beans. This dish had such tender veal cutlets that you could cut with a fork. The sauce was so creamy and rich. Yum! To end our night we asked Cole for their gelato flavors and the first flavor he mentioned was peanut butter...SOLD! We ordered the gelato trio of Peanut Butter, Espresso and Vanilla and also a cannoli, this gelato trio was perfect end to our meal. Thank you to Mannino's and Cole our server, I will definitely request him next time we visit and you should too!

Went for an early Valentine's. Took 10 minutes before we were greeted. Also, very truthful about the menu and not what to waste our time on which we appreciated especially being our first time there. Order the Prosciutto and Mozzarella appetizer and was not impressed for the price and presentation, it was blah. The bread was yummy. But the oil and balsamic was just plain. Could have added some crushed red pepper, black pepper,oregano- something to make it pop. Other than the bread- not impressed. Order the chicken parm with spaghetti was good per my husband. I ordered the seafood spaghetti with red sauce. It was good, it did need some black pepper and maybe some heat to go with it (red pepper flakes). The amount of seafood was a lot which was great. Tried the creme brulee and it was phenomenal. We should have tried their famous she crab soup but we didn't know until later that's what they are famous for.

Thankfully we didn't mind sitting at the bar and were able to be seated immediately. We ordered wine and drinks, appetizers and meals. We were too full and satisfied to try dessert this time but definitely want to make it a point to try next time. The bartender was phenomenal. Super patient, attentive and down to earth. The portions were HUGE! You definitely get your moneys worth with size and quality. Can't wait for another opportunity to go back.

I am actually getting to like sitting at the bar more and more. Bartender was Jimmy and he was just great! Great conversation from the beginning, no small talk but actually engaging conversation without overstaying. He would go down the bar and had great conversation with everyone. #impressed For drink I had the night special: Italian crush and it was good. Would definitely have it again. Ambiance was nice, quiet, peaceful nice place t come have dinner, enjoy the company and have some conversation. For main meal I had the Linguine Pesto Genovese with a side of chicken. I am a pesto lover and this was delicious. Portions are HUGE but nothing I can't handle. No dessert this time, there was nothing that spoke to me (not that I was full from my main meal) but they have a good selection and I would expect it to be just as good, if not better, than the food. Dessert is always better. Totally recommend to everyone and definitely will be coming back again. Expensive... but it was worth it overall.

It's rare to have a meal where every bite is a total win and this was one of those meals. From the award-winning She Crab Soup to the perfectly prepared stuffed chicken, we enjoyed everything. This has been on my bookmark list for years and finally got a chance to check it out. The She Crab Soup was at the top of my must-try list and I absolutely see why it gets rave reviews. Packed full of tender meat, nicely creamy without being thick and a very unique marsala flavor. I can't imagine ever visiting again without ordering this. For my entree, I got the Pollo Portofino, which was recommended by our server and fantastic. Stuffed breast with prosciutto, fresh mozz, spinach and topped with an amazing marsala sauce and lots of mushrooms. I will order it again for sure. We also learned that they hand-pull their mozzarella and it was fantastic on the chicken parm, which my dad got. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Atmosphere is cozy and casual, service was great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My ONLY hint of disappointment was that they don't make any of their own pastas, but their sauces are perfection! Food was good. Service was good. Rather unfortunate was the hair in my daughter's food. The manager came out and said the chef was bald. which begs the question where the hair in my daughter's food actually came from?!? I will say they remade her food, which we had to wait for, and other than that no apology or concession. At 10 we asked for her food to go. Unfortunately not a recommendation here. Sanitary conditions trump all. read more

Who would have ever imagined that an Italian Restaurant would have the best She Crab Soup in the area? If you have never been to Mannino's Italian Bistro, do yourself a favor and check them out. Their She Crab Soup is so good that they have been banned from further future competition. They used to win every single time, and rightfully so because theirs is the best I have ever tasted. They are also a fantastic Italian Restaurant offering all of the classic dishes that you might expect from a classic Bistro. Their pasta is freshly made in house daily and so is their sauces. I highly recommend this wonderful eatery to everyone, regardless of your preference for She Crab or Italian cuisine. read more

I was looking forward to an upscale restaurant arriving in Moyock. Unfortunately I must have caught a bad day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is loud but that's not the restaurants fault.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the lasagna. It arrived piping hot in a dish surrounded by sauce and melted cheese, nice presentation! The lasagna itself was lacking texture. There were no visible layers. It was just a lump of pasta and cheese with sauce. My wife had spaghetti but the sauce lacked depth of flavor. I just hope I caught a bad day! read more

Our server Diane was over the top amazing. Wow! We were celebrating my parent's 50th wedding anniversary and had never been to this restaurant before. Were we blown away! Not only was her service first class, every one of her recommendations came true with delicious, unique flavors. This restaurant is a hidden gem and will become a regular, go-to for casual dinners and celebrations. Don't miss the crabtini appetizer! read more

They served a bread with olive oil as well, and it was some of the best bread we've ever had! It was so delightful we got a second basket of it and probably could have eaten it all night. Dangerous! Two of us ordered the penne alla vodka and I was pretty disappointed with it. While it wasn't terrible, I felt the sauce was way to loose/liquid-y and didn't coat the pasta very well. A lot of the pasta was lost in a lake of orange vodka sauce. While it wasn't "bad" tasting, for the price and an Italian restaurant of this caliber, I would have hoped for a bit more. read more

This place was recommended by a colleague and was nothing short of spectacular from start to finish. We were promptly seated upon arrival for our reserved time slot. The She Crab Soup was the best that I've ever and and I now see why they call it award winning. The Crab-tini was a favorite of my wife while I loved the fried oysters. I've always see this restaurant when going to the places nearby, I'm so delighted I finally dined in it! It was so cute. It definitely had an old, vintage Italian look. The service was nice and informative. Our waiter explained the menu, drinks, and specials when he asked if we have ever had mannino's before. Fried oysters were very good. My husband had no complaints about the house special but said he would order something different next time. My spaghetti meatball parmigiana was soo good! I've eaten here three times based off the kempsville hype. Two of those times I was over charged and didn't even say anything. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I sat in the cramped dinning area where I was basically eating with 30 other ppl because it's so small and cramped I did not like it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wasn't really hungry but my family was and I ordered a cup of onion soup calamari appetizer and a child's penne with sauce and it was $50. It was a horrible experience! It started out nice and they brought bread and olive oil with the baslamiic. Then she took our order. We saw no more of her for about 45 min. No checking on us or our food. Then finally after the chef guy brought our food she asked how it was going?! I said .. 'Where have you been??' She said our order might have gotten lost behind a larger party?!? There was 2 ladies (came in after we ordered!) we're seated and ordered and finished by the time our food came?! Never going back. Last week, we had a party of 14 for a birthday celebration at Mannino's Italian Bistro. The night could have not been more perfect! The appetizers were awesome and provided a lot of variety for the group. Several of the people have dietary restrictions, and Mannino's has numerous options for everyone's taste. The 4 of us are here for a softball tournament. After a morning of softball and a day at the beach we wanted something different than burgers and Mexican for dinner. Decided on Italian and Yelp suggested this location away from the beach and closer to our hotel. We arrived and although we didn't have reservations, which I highly suggest, they had space at the bar. There was space available right behind us for 6 people. Our bartender, Jimmy, is from western NY and provided good conversation. Drinks were quick and Tony ordered an appetizer, mozzarella and prosciutto. Bread with oil and vinegar was served before dinner. Food took a little longer than expected. Liv added Penna ala vodka(5/5), she enjoyed it. Bella ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo, she enjoyed it(5/5). Tony ordered Chefs special(4/5). I ordered the Veal Frenchese(5/5), thoroughly enjoyed the warm bread to go along with the food. Went here for the first time with family after a college graduation ceremony so we were hungry! While the location is a bit obscure and the front of the restaurant doesn't immediately catch your attention, once you're inside it's actually a really nice vibe! There is a nice sized bar area with a wide selection of wine and two dining areas that sometimes seem to be separated by curtains which is cool if you are with a large group. Our waiter was very attentive, friendly, and knowledgable of the menu. He recommend a red wine since wine was half price that evening, and we all loved it! I am not a big wine person but I loved the wine he recommended, wish I got the name. We started off with the calamari, prosciutto and mozzarella, and bruschetta with gorgonzola apps and those were excellent, all 10/10. For entrees, I was between the Tortellini Rustica and the Vitello Saltimbocca but since the waiter recommended I'd pick the Vitello, I went with that. Unfortunately, I actually didn't enjoy that meal as much as I hoped, maybe my tastebuds aren't that fancy yet. I ended up trading plates with my bf who got the gnocchi, and that was better than my plate, 7/10. Our waiter saw that we had traded plates and he was super nice, offering to get me something else if I wasn't enjoying my meal and that I wouldn't have to pay for it!! Superior service! I felt embarrassed of course because I didn't want to be that person and also I was content with eating the gnocchi and off of other family members plates. Took off one star for not really enjoying my plate and the portions of food are monstrous! That may be a good thing sometimes but since we all got pasta, it was a little much and no one finished their plate. Everyone else was happy with what they got, my bf's mom got the Tortellini Rustica and let me have some bites- wish I got that! That was sooo good, 10/10. Overall a very nice first time experience, we will be back for more! read more

At this price point, I expected a high-quality cut of beef, some flexibility with side dishes, and an overall experience that matched the cost. Instead, it felt like every effort was made to minimize portions and avoid accommodating a simple request. I always try to support local restaurants, and I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews. But when you're paying premium prices, the food should reflect it. Based on my experience, I can't recommend the steaks here.

One piece of advice: arrive a little before Happy Hour begins at 3:00 p.m. If you wait until then, you'll likely find yourself several people deep in line. Don't let that discourage you. Embrace it, because once you're seated you'll quickly discover that the wait was well worth it. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices--especially during Happy Hour--are outstanding. The Atlantic specializes in oysters, and their Happy Hour runs daily from 3:00-6:00 p.m., including weekends. We began with a Chopped Caesar Salad ($9). Every ingredient was crisp, fresh, and flavorful--a simple dish executed exactly as it should be. Next came the oysters: a dozen Rockefeller and a dozen Pacific. The Rockefeller oysters were everything you would expect from this classic preparation--rich, savory, and baked beautifully. The Pacific oysters, however, completely stole the show. Each oyster was topped with a delicious combination of chorizo sausage, pepper jack cheese, and seasonings before being baked to perfection. They were bold, flavorful, and easily my favorite item of the afternoon. I also ordered the Double Stack Cheeseburger ($7), and what a terrific value. The burger arrived piping hot, loaded with melted cheese, and accompanied by a generous serving of crispy fries. It's hard to imagine finding a better burger at that price anywhere along the Oceanfront. My wife ordered the pork, shrimp, and kimchi dumplings served with a chili crunch and ponzu sauce that tied the entire dish together beautifully. She jokingly threatened to drink the remaining sauce after finishing the dumplings (she didn't), but she did convince me to dip one of my fries into it. She was absolutely right--it was fantastic. In fact, I now regret turning down the dumpling she generously offered me. Part of the fun of dining here is watching Shuck-Master Slim work. He's not only remarkably skilled but entertaining as well, adding a little personality to an already enjoyable experience. From the fresh seafood to the outstanding value and friendly atmosphere, this was another memorable visit to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. If you haven't been to The Atlantic on Pacific, I highly recommend adding it to your list. I feel like I had mouthfuls of mushrooms in each bite and that's all I tasted. Perhaps I will order something else they are more known for the next time I believe they specialize in Szechuan cuisine.

During our family vacation in VA Beach, we decided to venture beyond the oceanfront and discovered Mannino's, with its two locations. Opting for the farther one, it took us about 22 minutes to reach. The restaurant's exterior and interior had a dated feel reminiscent of a 1980s shopping center. Despite this, our experience was elevated by the outstanding service provided by Diane, who had been with them for 11 years. Her attentiveness and kindness truly made our visit memorable, reaffirming the charm of local establishments. Delving into the menu, which boasted a variety of enticing options, we eagerly anticipated a culinary treat. The famed crab soup, celebrated for its numerous awards, lived up to its reputation--bursting with flavor and loaded with generous portions of crab meat. The shared Caesar salad was ample enough for the four of us. The croutons, in particular, were an unexpected delight, resembling moreish chips in their delectable taste. Navigating the main dishes, a noteworthy observation was the substantial portion sizes, easily shareable. Our selection included the Chicken Parm served with a side of spaghetti. While visually impressive, the dish's flavor fell slightly short, with the chicken parmigiana feeling somewhat oily. A longing for richer taste led to some disappointment, making me wish I had opted for the lasagna. The Jumbo Shrimp Rose, a seafood option we tried, showcased perfectly cooked shrimp. However, the sauce's thickness and richness somewhat overwhelmed the dish, desiring a lighter touch. Nevertheless, the shrimp dish still outshone the tomato sauce accompanying the chicken parmigiana in terms of flavor. Ate in Portsmouth. Was horrible, and now we've learned of several others who agree and even one group that even walked out before receiving service. Bartender didn't know what a cosmopolitan was and made it with amost 100% sweet syrup, served martini in 12 oz glass and later brought olives she had forgotten in her hands, didn't put coffee beans in Sambuca (said all they had was coffee powder when asked), and never told us they served wine or even had their own named brand of bottles before we brought it up and ordered. Fried mozzerella was greasy, one adult was brought a child's plate by error, and one employee in back kept yelling at staff in back to "hurry up" and "get them out" even though restaurant wasn't even half full and most hadn't even ordered yet. Ironic thing is this restaurant at other locations is considered best in area and with best sommellier (my spelling) and chef. The leadership here really srtruck out in Portsmouth, and I'm not sure these widely held first impressions are likely to change with several other nearby restaurants in higher leagues. read more

Food was excellent but service was not up to standards for a high end restaurant. We ordered the crab soup which is as good as you can find, fettuccini Alfredo and the spaghetti and meatballs. All the food was excellent but service from Diane was poor. It took several times before she was willing to take our order, drinks were never refilled when needed and she pretty much ignored us when she was in the area and did not respond to my attempts to call her to our table. We wanted to order desserts but we could never get her to come to give us a dessert menu and we just decided to pay and leave instead of waiting for anything else. I always tip at least 20% even for mediocre service but Diane got a whopping 10% for our meal tonight. Food is great but service will keep me from coming back. read more

The soda was flat the waiter was beyond rude had enough nerve to complain about us because we mentioned the soda vrought another worker to our table to tell us the soda was good! Stirred it and showed him there c was no carbonation. He then took our drinks away and c told us we could only have water. I will never go there again! read more
