The website was giving us a hard time booking a car, it kept glitching idk if it's because everyone was on the site to choose a car when we landed so we were already a little frustrated. Upon entering Obi was quick to assist us even though we were heading a different direction, he let us know he was open to help us at the hertz counter. Obi was friendly, professional, and efficient. Made small jokes and conversation while he was booking our reservation. Answered our questions as we've never booked here before & was very helpful. When we returned our car around 6am the sercurity gaurd was also friendly, it was dark out still and at his booth sat 5 cats all around which made us smile. The shuttle drivers drive safe, and were also very kind and efficient. He let the passengers know to stay vigilant when leaving the shuttle and helped everyone who needed help with loading luggage. Once going back and forth on what car to get the car automatically wasn't available anymore which my mom and I thought it was very weird. But Obi helped us to find another vehicle. We got a GMC Terrain and once we got it we opened the door and smelled absolutely disgusting. Weed smell, beer, throw up, and smoke . We wanted to go back but we took so much time there that we just decided to get A LOT OF car refreshers, car wipes, and a vaccum. Extraordinarily sneaky. I reserved my car online as always, even went through the mobile check-in so all I'd have to do is go to the counter and pick up my keys. Dollar was closed but I was sent to Hertz to complete the pick up. This is nothing out of the ordinary and was not a big deal. The worker acted as if he only had 2 cars available. My charge went from $220 for 4 days up to over $500. He didn't even tell me there would be an up charge for the car available. I should've been given the car for the price I paid. The check in process was fairly smooth. The car category that I reserved had no cars available but the attendant gave us a free upgrade which was nice. The car condition was good, didn't have many scratches, was clean and didn't give us no issues the 4 days we had it. We wound up getting a Ford Edge. Not sure what year but it looked pretty new. Had a big front dash screen and had car play, which i liked especially for google map directions. We drove at least an hour or two each day we had it because things in Cali are so far apart. We wanted to go to Napa for the wineries and visit San Francisco so we chose a central location but still had long distances to drive. The car was good on gas because the gas light just came on the night before we left. I do not like that there isn't a gas station near the rental car center or on the same road at all. Which doesn't make any sense or maybe that's on purpose to trick people into paying a fuel penalty if they don't have time to go out the way to fill up. We filled it up the night before and would just do a top off before returning. We left our Airbnb 3 hours before our flight so we wouldn't be rushing, But we were still cutting it very close to missing our flight because of the California traffic. An hour commute turned into 2! So I was charged an absurd amount per gallon because we weren't able to top it off before returning it. We had to wait like 10 min for a shuttle and luckily made it before gate closing. Missing our flight would have been unfortunate because it was the last one of the day with that airline. So we had to choose between missing a flight and paying a fuel charge. I had a similar experience in Sacramento branch - booked a car weeks in advance only to wait in a line for TWO Hours with two attendants available. I'm one of those people who has all of the necessary paperwork ready to go, but unfortunately a lot of people who rent cars don't understand that process and have to ask EVERY question on earth in order to rent a GD car. I never really had problems with Dollar until recently. After my LA trip, I had returned a 2023 Malibu to the Oakland Airport Rental. I'm thinking everything is fine until the inquiry landed in my email. There's a $500 "outside wash" fee that I never heard of or ever been charged for! An outside washing fee is the most disrespectful slap in the face with a hidden fee of such. I called a Rep., and she was able to help a little by deducting fees but never again will I rent from Dollar until something is done to help others be aware of hidden fees as such or not charge at all. $5-15 wash turned into $500... that's one hell of a leap. Let me start by saying that I booked through a AAA discount and I had not seen the reviews until after I made the reservation. I was worried about the wait time, the customer service, the car availability, all of it. I chose to stick with my reservation and hope for the best. When I arrived, there were 2 people ahead of me and 2 employees attending to a customer each. I did wait about 20 minutes but everything went smoothly: I got a midsize car as reserved, the representative was amazing and she was so friendly and helpful, picked up the car from a marked stall, dropped off and greeted by friendly guy, had everything emailed and closed out on the spot. Saw so many people told their reservations don't guarantee them a car and at the same time refusing to provide the refund for the money they stole. After four hours of fighting with them they finally gave us a car but scammed us by overcharged us by extra day and added extra tolls charge and so many extra fees and refused to remove these fraudulent charges. Easy rental, easy transaction, easy in and out. We booked a rental car for the weekend in the East Bay after arriving from LA into OAK. First off, booking the Southwest Airlines tickets then adding a rental car to the agreement within the SWA transaction. Everything was smooth...from landing into OAK Airport, to the rental car shuttle/bus ride from the terminal to Dollar, checking in for the car, picking your own rental car then driving out. Easy. Returning the rental car to Dollar was easy as well. Drove in and scan the receipt and you're done. The OAK Airport Dollar Rent a Car employees were nice as well. Be careful driving and parking the rental car in San Francisco though...they are tons of break-ins everyday. Don't leave your backpacks, and valuables in plain view in the rental.... read more

I had no problems. I had to rent for two weeks while my car was in the shop. They don't have the nicest cars so make sure you mark the damage form and take photos. Staff were uniformly helpful and nice. I had to extend by a week and it was hundreds cheaper to go though Priceline, drive out, reup the rental for a week, than to go through Dollar directly. I dropped it off, jumped on the shuttle to the airport, got on BART and headed home. It was cheap and easy. And weirdly CHEAPER if I returned it at 4 pm, not 1 pm, even though I picked it up at 1 pm the week before, so play with the times on Priceline and you may get a better deal. read more

She looks at my credit card and said we don't accept web banking credit cards. So ok no problem I give her my chase credit card. At this point she tells me that I need to call the 800 number and change the credit card from the SoFi to the chase card. What nonsense. So I step back and called the 800 number and waited for almost 30 minutes to talk to someone. At last I get to talk to someone and that person tells me that my SoFi card should be fine. My poor wife was unlucky enough to arrive at this location only to be lied to. She was told the reservation was for an electric car and a mid sized suv would be a significant upgrade.
