Next we had the boneless pork ribs, a reminder from our youth minus getting caught in between your teeth from bitting off the bone. Shangrala minus the paradise What started out as a really good experience went sideways as the meal progressed. The shrimp wonton soup was awesome. The shrimp egg rolls were also awesome. The gen tso chicken was heavily breaded and the sauce was only ok. The custom stir fry was fair. If you hunted real thorough you could find some chicken. The teriyaki sauce needed a boost. Third time here, but first time having the sushi. It did not disappoint. While they may not have the same variety as a "sushi restaurant" what they do have is fresh and delicious. The amount of fish in the rolls was generous. I like that you can get the rolls of your choice in the maki combination. I also like that you can get Chinese food and Japanese food in the same place. Something for everyone! As I said in a previous review I love the variety of vegetarian options and meat substitutes. The servers are very friendly and professional. While it may be a minor thing- I appreciate a restaurant that will wrap leftovers for you instead of just bringing you a box to do it yourself. read more

Top notch Asian cuisine is what they are serving up at Shangri La. The restaurant offers Chinese, Japanese, & Taiwanese cuisine and also some Thai dishes. I guess it's technically an Asian fusion style joint. There's not much to the interior of the space as it's primarily takeout and delivery. They have just a few tables available and do not take reservations although you can call 15 minutes before you plan to go and they will hold a table if one is available. I have to say that for a takeout and delivery place the service is exceptional. The waiters are attentive, polite, and helpful with the menu. The menu is expansive and there's something for everyone and they also account for just about every dietary need one may have. One option they offer that I really like is the "your choice" section of the menu. You can customize your dish with the main ingredient (protein), a selection of one of the many sauces they offer (I chose ginger scallion) and four vegetables with some premium options at a small additional cost. You can also select a "spicy" level from 1-5. I went with the 5 which was super spicy mostly due to the generous amount of diced green chili peppers sauteed with the dish. We shared an order of sesame shrimp for the table which was prepared to perfection with jumbo shrimp in a sweet and tangy sauce served with broccoli. The hot and sour soup and shrimp wonton soup were excellent as was the crab Rangoon and tuna rolls we ordered for apps. The shrimp pad Thai was in line with some of the best Thai restaurants in the area and the mongolian beef melted in your mouth. We were a party of 6 and we ordered a lot of food. Everyone was raving about the dishes and I'm looking forward to a return trip to try more of the offerings on their menu. read more

Recently, my wife and I wanted something easy to get and fresh. We live this place based in those two needs. Lately, they have been doing great with their takeout and delivery service. Wait times are a little longer but we decided to call before the delivery service started and asked for a specific time for delivery. Shuuuush, don't tell anyone else but this worked great. I've picked food up from here before and was always impressed with how filled it gets. Very clean restaurant setting. I definitely recommend this place for those urges of Fried Rice and Wonton Soup. read more

Wow! Shangeri La Restaurant has been remodel.The transformation is stunning, inviting, the lighting makes the place intimate. The food is fresh and delicious. However I had the flounder with cabbage in a warm broth and it was alittle salty. My California and Philadelphia ​rolls were delicious. The waiters are polite and attentive. This is one of my favorite Chinese/ Japanese restaurants, and my favorite place to get bubble tea. The food is delicious, and one of my favorite things on the menu is the chicken fried rice. It has a great ratio of rice, vegetables, and chicken. This is the dish that made me start liking peas. They are so delicious, and fresh. The service here is friendly and quick, and the bubble tea is out of this world. My order: strawberry bubble tea with strawberry popping boba. The ambiance is nice, but it could be a little bit nicer, and more spaced apart. It is just the tiniest bit cramped. Overall, great restaurant, and this is one of my regular restaurants to eat at. read more

I drove 40 minutes today to come here for lunch after seeing the video on TikTok. Let me tell you it did not disappoint!!! I got the lunch special sweet and sour shrimp. The shrimp were huge. I mean huge!, the peppers and onions crisp and a little soft perfectly cooked ! The sweet-and-sour sauce was delicious. I also had to get the crab Rangoons after seeing it in the review. Dropped in for takeout for the 2nd time today. The hot and sour soup brought me back. This time a also ordered the Black Bean lunch special. I can only tell you, this is the best hot and sour soup I've ever had. It's the 1st time I didn't have to take a second look at the beef and give it the benefit of the doubt. I knew it was real beef and very tender, it was. As I said, it was takeout and lunch time, so it was a little wait, but understandable and expected for freshly prepared food that wasn't just sitting in the back waiting to be ordered. My family and I visited on NYE. Service was fantastic. Everything we ordered was amazing. Many gluten free options including gf tamari offered j stead of soy sauce. Christmas Eve order. Called ahead 2 days in advance for 6:30 pickup. They called at 6:30 and said they were running an hour behind. Pretty good but VERY expensive. Had the chicken dumplings, pork dumplings, scallion pancakes, pork fried rice, and sesame beef. The dumplings and pork fried rice were just okay 5/10. The scallion pancakes were some of the best I've had in NJ 8-9/10. The sesame beef was ANNOYINGLY good 10/10 but sooo expensive - like 40% more than at other restaurants. I also really like you can add spice to any dish including the pork fried rice. Overall, it was good but way too pricey to order from regularly. read more

I love nothing more than an Asian restaurant with an extensive menu. And not just a menu with traditional dishes like Chicken with Broccoli...I mean a menu that satisfies any craving, be it elaborate sushi, noodle soups, Szechuan-style dishes, and even bubble tea. My search for such a place ended when I found Shangri-La. The restaurant is always packed and it's with good reason. Even when it's ridiculously busy, the staff is always friendly and welcoming. They go the extra mile to engage their customers and I absolutely love that. Take-out is a-bustling during COVID, but they still get the orders out timely (and correct). Sushi, appetizers, entrees, salads...we've had it all. And we keep going back for more. Their sushi is always the right temperature and the rice is balanced with the right amount of bite. I saw a really great recommendation for this place on Facebook, and because I'm always looking for the perfect wonton soup, I thought I would try it. It was pretty good, above average, and I'll have to try it again to get a better feel for the place. I ordered the stirfry lunch, which is a good deal: you choose a protein and three vegetables. I got the sesame sauce, and I was surprised that it didn't have a very intense flavor. But overall the vegetables were fresh and everything was pretty good. I wish you could order noodles instead of rice. I also got the shrimp wonton soup that has bok choy in it, and that was okay, but not stellar. I will update my review when I try again. read more

When you call to place an order you may hear, respectfully, that there's about a 30-40 wait for pickup. There's a good reason--a very good reason. Shangri-La's food is that good and it is totally worth the wait. Once you know about their popularity and the potential wait, you know to build the time into your pickup. The staff is super friendly and they take the time to answer all of your questions. As someone with fish allergies, that is greatly appreciated. Shangri-La will modify orders to accommodate people's dietary restrictions and requests. Still, most importantly, this is the best Chinese food in the area. The food is fresh with great flavors. It's never greasy or overly sauced. I could order from Shangri-La daily...except Tuesday (they are closed). read more

Once the "goto" place in area for excellence now just average overpriced sub par Chinese Japanese hole in the wall food. Expect to spend some real money here but dont expect what you've paid for....its just NOT good anymore. I was EXTREMELY disappointed the last 2 times I ordered from Shangri La. I thought I'd give them another try one more try, but this was so bad, that we found much of the food to be inedible. I placed a large order for takeout for 7 adults, including soup, appetizers, and entrees. All I can say positively is that the soup was delicious and very salty (I like salty soup), and the wontons were very tender. Beyond that, everything else was almost inedible. The squid was extremely tough and flavorless. Several of the entrees came with "vegetables"... the "vegetables" were only barely-cooked, inedible broccoli. We ordered a mixed vegetable dish, and requested very little spice. Sadly it had so much hot pepper that no one could eat it. Fortunately there are other Asian restaurants in the area. read more

Shangri La is commonly in the discussion for THE go-to Chinese spot in Cherry Hill. Hit them up if you're in town and craving Chinese food. Food always tastes great, and you'll be supporting a local business! Here are some recommendations: Fish (Flounder) with Black Bean Sauce -- I know I know... this isn't exactly the usual for most of us, but stay with me. It's a couple bucks more than your General Chicken or your Orange Beef (also great choices), but they don't skimp out just because it's seafood. The fish is a really good alternative especially if you prefer your protein not breaded. Singapore Rice Noodle -- Classic! It's got a decent curry kick to it, but it's not spicy or overwhelming. For protein, chicken or pork is the way to go here. The portion size makes this a really good option for serving larger groups. Also, thinner rice noodles means more room in your stomach for everything else. Ma Po Tofu -- Classic x2! This is should be a go-to order if you're into spicy foods. Typically, this is spicier than most dishes on the menu; so be careful if you can't handle spice that well (still, I'd say you should order it lol). For those who love leftovers, you can't go wrong here if you can stretch it out; in a group, this will probably be gone since it'll be a hit. If you're still reading, you're a real one. Shangri La is a Cherry Hill staple for anyone who enjoys good Chinese food (which is hopefully everyone). After returning from years living in NYC, this restaurant is one of the few places in New Jersey that come close. They have been very accommodating over the course of the pandemic and were even one of the first Cherry Hill eateries to offer curbside delivery after the initial shutdown of indoor dining. We had to pick up something at the CVS in the Holy Ravine Plaza and decided to give Shangri La a try for lunch. Two very friendly employees greeted us immediately upon entering. The restaurant space itself is open and set up as cafe or bistro style. The decor is modern and fresh with wood and faux brick accents. My lunch partner and myself both ordered off of the lunch menu. There are about 8 choices that come with Chicken, Beef, Shrimp or Tofu. A choice of soup is also included. I chose the garlic chicken and the chicken and corn soup. My chicken was all white meat and was very good without being oily or greasy. Shangri La serves Americanized Chinese food but it still felt healthier and more refined then a most restaurants of this type. The lunch special is $8.00, which is good deal. Shangri La was busy also with take out orders and the food came out a little slow. That was fine as the quality was worth the wait. They serve bubble tea and smoothies also. Shangri La is a nice little place and I would go back to explore the menu further for dinner. read more

I was warned by @shangrilachillnj they would be busy, and ordered my dinner two days in advance....and am glad I did.
