I had a project this weekend to simply cancel a water line under my kitchen sink but it turned out I needed to replace both pressure valves as one had a slow leak and the other stuck and could not shut off. I replaced the hot one but the cold was a battle to which I ended up with an injury to my forehead as the valve shot out from the water pressure when I was checking for leaks. That's when I decided to call the plumber, they were punctual, pleasant (son and father team) and quick with the repairs. He also gave some pointers on what I missed. We recently found that we had a water leak between the meter and our house, unfortunately, that was as close as we could come to identifying exactly where. Water was running down the driveway and we knew $$ were going with it. The big plumbing companies in Livermore were of no help whatsoever, claiming that they had no "leak detection service." The two services they recommended told us it would be over 30 days before they could get to it. Fortunately, Al worked feverishly to help, finally finding a detection service from Lodi. (They were even cheaper than the local ones and were out in just a few days). All in all our water was off for 5 days, but thanks to Dollar Plumbing we were back on and working. My garbage disposal started leaking on Sunday afternoon. Water just passed right through it actually, so I couldn't use that side of the sink. I guess it served a useful life after 9 years. Anyway, I went out and bought a nice unit from Costco and called Dollar to have it installed. Unfortunately, they weren't available to come out that day, but said they'd be out on Monday between 9-11am. Al showed up around 9:30 and looked at my disposal and the replacement I bought. He said he could install it, but he'd have to repipe a lot of stuff under the sink to make it fit. I was a little leery, but he pulled the unit out of the box and put it under the sink to show me. Yep, it wasn't going to fit right. He recommended that he replace it with a similar unit and gave me a fair estimate. I agreed and he said it'd take him an hour to secure the replacement. He came back in about an hour and replaced my disposal in less than 30 minutes. He's good at his job. He tested everything to make sure there were no leaks and then he gave me some advice on what not to throw into the disposal. Very expensive! Charged $900 for first time fixing a leaking PVC pipe coming into the house. The leak was underground, so he charged $250 for digging, incl. in the price. Yes, $250 for 10 min digging? LOL! 2 years later same pipe was leaking above ground, called them again, but he wanted $800 for the repair. I asked him how much, he's charging for an hour? He said, he charges by the job. OK! Told him, too expensive! Thank you! Called Jazz Heating and A/C, they do plumbing work. They were here next day morning. He charged $240 to fix the pipe, done the job in an hour. Plumber said, previous plumber used wrong PVC for the repair, overlapping gray PVC or something? So, my experience was not good with Dollar Plumber! read more

I have a property in Livermore that I manage for some tenants. After they moved in, the sewer line backed up due to increased usage after a brief vacancy and more people using the water. It happens. We have a pesky tree in which the roots go into the pipe about 10-15 feet from the house, about $200 max to snake from the convenient clean out located about 10 feet from the tree. My regular plumber's schedule could not allow him to get there the next day. Unknown to me, the tenant called Dollar Plumbing. That was when it happened. We got scammed. A regular plumber would call me first with the findings and give me an estimate, then they would ask for permission to proceed. None of that happened. My feeling is they saw an opportunity to take advantage of a situation and charged an "emergency fee." All the more reason to call the manager right? They billed us over $700 to snake from the clean out which is right there in the front yard to the sidewalk. Over $700. Sorry to the other reviews, but Dollar is a No Go. Seems like to them the "Dollar" is on their side not yours or mine. I feel George Washington would turn over in his grave if he knew Dollar Plumbing is using him as part of their logo. read more
