I reserved a car on Monday to pick up after work & after I dropped my car off. I was able to pick up my rental car pretty quickly. The reason for only 4 stars is due to the return. I turned the rental car in on Thursday after work. It took a long time to return it. They were busy, but I really wanted to get in & out in a timely manner because I still had to go across town to pick my car up. My car isn't fixed yet, so I will need to most likely rent a car two more times until my car is fixed. Hopefully pick up & drop off go quicker the next two times. It wasn't so slow that I won't continue to go back. The staff our helpful & friendly.

Late review... First…read moretime Silvercar user in Phoenix. This has got to be the easiest and quickest I've gotten a rental. From Sky Harbor, a quick shuttle ride to the Silvercar lot. Someone comes out and greets you, gets you set up. Pull up the app, scan the bar code and off you go. May have taken 10 minutes tops from the shuttle to on the road in an A4. Best experience I've had at a rental agency. All paperwork completed on the app beforehand saves so much time. Definitely not the last time I'll be using Silvercar, either in Phoenix or other cities with availability.

We decided to ask the Silvercar concierge if they had availability for a Q5 at that time. The reply was very prompt and they had a Q5 at that time. We headed to the Blue Sky Shuttle from terminal 4 which takes you to the Silvercar parking location. We had to scan the code on the Audi and it unlocked by itself. No lines, no counters! The staff were all very nice and courteous, they helped us with our luggage and off we went! The car was a clean and new Q5 with all the bells and whistles. It is an excellent car to take for road trips. The return was again no hassle and great. All in all it was a great experience costing less than what we would've paid for a fully loaded luxury car at another company. If I come to Phoenix again or another city that has Silvercar, I'll definitely use them!

I'm convinced this car has hidden floorboard cutouts for feet pedaling a la Fred Flinstone. The hourly rentals are great for errand running, event transportation, or late night booty call. Here's where I get in trouble: I'm lazy, and sometimes run late. If you're not careful the service can suck the money out of your wallet. The Zipcar is typically less expensive than a taxi, until you start relying on the service too much. The first signs of Zipcar addiction? Frequent rentals, realizing your butt has not touched the seat of your bike in weeks and referring to the Zipcar as 'my car'. There's also a $50 fee on late returns. Signing up for the program will also cost you $75 dollars, give the application process a few days before you're able to reserve a car. Zipcar is amazing, super convenient, you rent the car by the hour or by the day- run your errands, do what you need to do and drop it back at its stop. I love the car I rented! Now I want a hybrid, I barely had to deal with the gas, and when I did fill up it was not on me. I wish Zipcar was around when I didnt have a car- would have made my life INFINITELY easier, but alas, the lightrail, zipcar and all the wonderful things happen RIGHT after I get my car. A nice lady helped me with my pre-planned reservation- giving me the choice of several car models based on my needs. I went with an economical sedan with good MPG, plenty of legroom and trunk space. I was handed the keys and asked to walk down to their on-site lot to retrieve the car. As a National Club member it appeared that this location did have the service booth to grab your car and bypass the counter but Covid-19 has changed that for now. You must go into the terminal to get your car. I was a little bit underwhelmed with the car- it had over 30,000 miles and was pretty dirty inside and out. Again, I'd imagine the virus is keeping more staff from being on site and keeping up with regular cleanings, etc. There were nicks, dents and scratches along the car's body so I made sure to snap a few pics and keep them documented. Later, after returning the car I realized very little attention was given for damage checks (guess they're looking for major body damage). On all occasions while working with a National representative on-site they were polite and helpful. The both wore masks. I feel the prices are fair with National- and it helps that I have a corporate account to attach to as well. They offer roadside assistance for free and there are upgrades such as added insurance, GPS, satellite radio, car seat, etc. Each one comes with an additional daily cost of course but at least those options are available. The return process was simple enough- again the pandemic changed things up a bit. Drive into the return lot, park the car, walk to the lot's service office and hand in your keys. They charge the card on file and hand you a receipt. Super easy.

But I found out yesterday morning that the Baseline location has been closed, and that they've been incorporated into Darner Chrysler Jeep in Mesa. Here's how my first visit to Darner went: I called a few days ago to make an appointment. When asked who my Service Manager was, I was informed that my Service Manager was no longer with the company and I now had a new Service Manager. I would have thought that this would have been an opportune time to inform me that I would be bringing my Jeep to a different location, but apparently not. I had to find this out on my own when I showed up at the closed Baseline location. When I called to find out was going on, I was informed that the new location was several miles east, on Baseline and Arizona. Not that familiar with Mesa, I asked for clarification. "Just head east until you hit Arizona," she said. So I headed east, but I never hit Arizona. Somewhere around Cooper I called her back to find out where Arizona was. She said, "Arizona and Country Club are the same street," as if I hadn't told her I wasn't familiar with Mesa the first time we talked. So I turned around, headed back to Country Club. But when I got there, no dealership. So I called her back (that's three times, if you're keeping track). "Well, it's not at the intersection," she said, her tone suggesting a lack of mental ability on my part. "It's on Arizona, south of Baseline." So I dropped off my Jeep, met my new Service Manager, gave him the Jeep "Dealer Dollars" certificates I'd redeemed using points accumulated using my Jeep credit card because there is a verification process the cashier has to go through that takes a long time, and I know that if I don't drop them off ahead of time, I'll have to wait for an hour when I come to pick it up. Not sure what the final cost of service was going to be, I left several different denominations. Skip ahead to pick-up. The cashier informs me how much I owe. I tell her about the Dealer Dollars I left with my new Service Manager. She has no idea what I'm talking about. She's never heard of Dealer Dollars. I wait while she asks someone else. When they figure out what they are, they sigh, like I'm an asshole for wanting to use them. "This is going to take a while," she says, "we have to call in to verify them. "I know the process," I tell them, that's why I gave them to my Service Manager this morning, six hours earlier. While I wait, they discover that someone did call to verify one of the certificates after all - one worth more than the amount I owed, so I was going to have to forfeit the difference. "But I left several different denominations," I informed her, "including a couple that combined added up to the exact amount I owed." She sighs again. "Fine, whatever," she says, "I'll call in to verify them. But it's going to take a while. Have a seat." Unbelievable. "Not worth it," I told her, and left. And then the icing on the cake: I get outside to find that the door of my Jeep has been left open. Not wide open, but enough that the overhead light had been on, draining my battery for the last five hours. It didn't even start on the first couple of tries. I thought I was going to have to ask them for a jump. But then it started. My last thought as I peeled out of the parking lot - I am so Yelping this.

REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!…read more Flew 2000 miles to Mesa Arizona. Went to pick up my rental car reservation. Agent greeted me and said "oh I see you have a profile with us already so this will be fast. Let me just verify this license first with my manager." What? What do you need to verify? You have cut your license so I'm not sure it's valid What are you talking about? I trimmed a millimeter off the edge of the lamination so that it would fit in my wallet. I didn't cut my license. The entire license is still there. And it's still valid. Oh, I'm sure this won't be a problem. We just like full transparency in advance with our customers. Umm, Full transparency was 2000 miles ago. Not When I'm standing at the counter to pick up my car and it's 104° outside and you're telling me you're not going to give me a car and I'm going to have to hitchhike. That is not transparency. Oh, I'm sure it won't be a problem, sir Returns from the back office. It's a problem. Manager said no. So you're telling me I cannot pick up my rental car. You have my profile. I was just here six months ago. Why was This not a problem then? Well, that agent was probably just trying to be nice to you, sir Well, I'm asking you to be nice to me one more time please. I'm far from home, don't know anybody here and need a car. Sorry, there's nothing I can do. Corporate rules. So I left and went to the Hertz counter, they had no cars available. Great. Thank God for Avis, the counter two doors down. They had a car and had no problem with my drivers license. Had Avis not had any cars available, I would've been stranded. And Alamo could not have cared less. I would say, I will never rent another car from Alamo ever again. But apparently, that's not an option.. They don't accept valid drivers licenses with trimmed edges along the edge of the lamination. Lest you think I'm leaving something out, I have since showed my license to every person I've met on this trip and told this story to (which is anybody who would listen). And they all laughed. Nobody could find anything a reasonable person would consider wrong with that license. You can bet I will never forget the Alamo. And I strongly suggest you do likewise. PS: Alamo customer service...please don't bother responding to this review. There is nothing you can say to reassure me into taking another risk like that on Alamo. It was just way too close of a call for me to ever roll those dice on you again.

First the guy switching vehicles was not nice and seemed annoyed by us not wanting to drive a vehicle for a week with a service light on. Second we load everything to the other vehicle, which was a serious downgrade from what we rented. Third my husband accidentally left his wallet in the center console. As soon as he realized it we drove back to the airport and lo and behold it was nowhere to be found! The manager on duty said they would look at cameras and did not hear anything back. After a week we called the customer service line. First person I tried to talk to hung up on me, second person told us we would get a call back within 24-48 hrs. We finally got a call back after 2 weeks and all we got is a "I'm sorry". I would highly recommend going through a different car rental company than this one. They do not hold their employees accountable or do anything to help.
