THE WORST STORAGE COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH!!!! On 2 separate occasions they have charged my account without my authorization and blamed me both times. They claim that I opted into auto pay (something I never do because I prefer control of all transactions.) When contacting them about it, I was told that refunds are against policy even though they took the money without my approval. I was told that there was a system error when I wasn't emailed a receipt for the transaction. I STRONGLY SUGGEST EVERYONE ELSE DOING BUSINESS WITH DOLLAR SELF STORAGE TO REVIEW YOUR BANK ACCOUNT. I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE BEING CHARGED MULTIPLE TIMES. I can't get my stuff out of this dishonest company fast enough. I spoke with Flavio in the front office and he was rude and unprofessional. Although the staff has always been nice and the facility is temperature controlled and clean, they do not work with you. My cost jumped up 50 dollars in less than a year of me being there. This has made it near impossible for me to make my payments on time as I am a single mother and on a tight budget. When I brought it up they were able to lower it by a whole 5 dollars. They also will not work with you to get your account current. They will not accept partial payments and will keep tacking on late fees and charges such as certified mail charges when they send you a letter and several other fees. Also at this point I HAVE to make a payment in person as they won't accept online payments since I'm late. I live an hour away.... everytime I call to check my balance once I've collected the money I think I owe it's always at least 25 to 50 dollars higher because of fees. I'm going to lose my storage to auction tomorrow because I've had some personal family trauma recently and haven't had all the funds to pay back what they say I owe. I currently have over 100 dollars in fees on my account along with the actual payments. I've been begging for help getting current, just please let me pay the principle and ill pay the additional charges on my next paycheck... and all I am told is I have to pay it all by the 21st or lose it. Anyone that has ever needed to move, knows how frustrating the process is. It is even more frustrating when you get misguided or wrong information. I thought I had finally found the unit I needed and at a decent price. I spoke to the representative, he even gave me a quote for their special. He put me in their computer for the unit so it couldn't be rented, "so he said", he said I needed to come down in person and give my information since they couldn't take it over the phone. I show up and the unit was rented. I explained to the manager what I was told, he brushed me didn't seem to care. Said that the unit can be rented online and they have no control over it. What?!?! Suggestion: They should have a menu broad to remind customers about deadlines and due date differences. 2. They offer first full month for $1. +PLUS hidden fees according to size of your storage. For their smallest unit, we paid $1 + $68. 3. They DO NOT prorate. For example, If you move out on November 5th, you still have to pay for the entire month of November. 4. You must buy your own lock; you must buy it from them; no one sells the lock they use. (Even though, I heard this is standard, it still sucks.) read more

We were out as specified on the notice. My son forgot to remove the lock (they do have a lock removal service on site). My card continued to get charged, so I emailed them to remind them we vacated. I'm being told I owe 2 months because we didn't vacate. But we did. Did I receive a phone call regarding the lock? NOPE. So I put my belongings at this storage facility a year ago and chose it because a person lives on the premises and I wanted to be sure my belongings were safe. So far that has been the case (although some sketchy people appeared to be living in their unit about 4 doors down from mine - always there with their car door opened and tarps covering entrance). A few of the units were damaged due to high winds this past year but thankfully mine wasn't one of them. It seems like the winds really kick up in this location and you should cover your belongings completely because the unit gets filthy inside. Soot (probably from the freeway which is 50 yards away), sand and dirt constantly. But my big complaint is in 12 months they have raised my rate from $219 to $272. I find this exorbitant. I will be looking for another more affordable place by the end of the month. read more

I have used this storage location for nearly three years as they have 1,000 square foot units (and smaller of course). They have large RV length and height storage units with power doors which is hard to find. Emily is the manager and has been there a long time and has always been very friendly and super helpful. I had a terrible experience with Rats at this facility. Worse than the rat infestation was the way I was treated by the property manager at the corporate office. Here are the facts relating to this situation; 1. Upon move in I was not told of any problem with rats due to the freeway construction. 2. Aprox. 60 days after I moved in there was a HUGE amount of rat damage to my personal belongings and droppings in my unit. The manager from the Lincoln location came over to help me. I was in a terrible mood and he was an awesome help. He informed me that the rat problem was a result of the freeway expansion construction (it was so loud at my unit from the jack hammers, I literally wore ear plugs). 3. When I returned to the unit months later in December there was a moderate amount of rat droppings and dead rats (on the sticky pads). See attached pictures. Keep in mind these pictures are nothing compared to what I experienced in August. The woman in the unit next to mine had recently moved in and had rat droppings as well. I was told that the rat problem had been totally handled and what I was seeing now probably occurred before they rid the complex of the rats. Okay that's believable but...I still had rat droppings again! 4. I was so shaken by this experience I just couldn't stay at this facility even though I had an awesome deal on my unit. 5. All I requested of the property manager at the corporate office was a refund of the remainder of the month a tiny amount of money. Not only did he refuse, he blamed me for the rat problem because I had bottled water and food in my unit. I was sent a copy of the ultra fine print in the rental contract I signed stating that I will not store food products in the unit. Unbelievable! Clearly they had a huge problem with rats, that problem was the result of the freeway construction (displacing the rats), and the rat problem existed before I moved in. You know what food I had? Four energy bars buried inside a cold weather emergency bag I kept (which was ruined) and a few cases of arrowhead bottled water. I am guilty of this terrible infraction of the rules, yes. But to say they have zero responsibility and then blame me is a terrible way to treat a customer. And all I was asking for was $70 for half my last months rent since I was moving out early. Okay enough about rats. I don't know about you but when I am behind locked gates of a storage facility after office hours or on a day the office is closed I want to know that there is somebody to answer the phone if there is a problem (like with getting the gate to open, etc.). Well there was just a recording. I reached the property management office on a Sunday and there was nobody to take my call. The street to enter the complex was always a bummer for me. Not exactly the prettiest street in Corona and all bumpy. I am not trying to cause a loss of business for this facility. The actual facility itself is nice and as long as the rat problem is completely handled and the noise from the freeway isn't a problem for you, definitely you should check it out. But don't leave any bottled water in your unit, and don't forget your gate code when the office is closed, lol. read more
