Used to be a favorite. Now it's a mess…read more Since i was hospitalized earlier in the year, i had a lot of things to replace or upgrade. I sent my sister in with cash and my loyalty info to get me the advertised sale. The shelf talker was still up from yesterday and it said "half off all sheet sets". My sister loaded her cart and asked if they would still honor it and they said no. New manager also said no. Then they asked if she still wanted it and she said no. But because she is polite she took all her stuff and put it back and left. Because i have 30 years of retail experience, with everything from big box to boutique, from $500, 000 in sales to $14, 000, 000 as a softlines manager, i told her she did the right thing. Her time is money and i don't like it being wasted. I had to walk my dept. before opening to make sure all signage was correct. So, no one did that this morning at the Monroe store. And because she still had to spend my money, she went to Meijer.

The store is clean and well organized. Many discount items I can't find elsewhere and always buy…read moremore than what I need because the price is right!

Unfortunately the Mall of Monroe has seen better days. No anchor stores remain and the only chain…read moreretail is Bath and Body. I consider Bath and Body the cockroach of retail. Why? Because they can outlast and survive anything. It's a shame the mall is so dead because the phoenix theater is the best theater in the area. We drive from Toledo to enjoy movies there. If you're hungry there is one Mexican restaurant in the Food court, but unfortunately Mrs. Fields closed recently. One other highlight is the pinball arcade. Some really cool vintage machines.

Updated store, updated review. New set up, new bottle return room, and even new shopping carts…read more Wider isles, but less stuff in a few categories. They took out some regular check out lanes ( which was never in use). And of course, added self service check out lanes. They even have sushi now. Never did when I lived in Monroe. But many of the same faces on the staff and same service is I was use to having the 15 years I lived here. Will stop monthly when I come down to have thoses white roots covered.

Five stars for the coolest salesperson ever!…read more Ashley was a hoot! First thing she said to me was, "We have no clothes here", when I said I had never been in the store. She went on to explain that most Family Dollar stores have a clothing department but this one only had socks and accessories. I had come in to see if they had anything cool for the marina in the way of decor. I didn't see anything that would work, but I did pick up some hairbands for a doll I was rehabbing. While in the store, I managed to take some pics and get an idea of what they had. They are more like a five and dime from yesteryear than a true "Dollar Store". There are some items in the dollar range, but most are higher than that. While I was browsing, Ashley rang up customers and managed to check on me now and then. When I asked her how the Chinese restaurant was nearby, she gave me a menu so I could take home. She said they did a great pork and vegetable dish but their almond chicken and sweet and sour left much to be desired. Someone in Monroe should hire Ashley to run their store. Her level of customer service was exceptional!

We've been customers of Danny's since moving to Monroe in 2006. On a recent 90 degree day my…read morehusbands car broke down near Walnut Street, about two blocks from Danny's at Cole Road. He forgot his cell that day and walked the two blocks to Danny's to use their phone to call me to pick him up. It would have been another two miles to walk home on a hot day, and he is in his mid 80's, not a good idea. He walked into the store and asked the woman at the cash register if he could use the phone, he had a break down and needed a ride. "NO" was her response. Surprised, and with disbelief, he walked back to the meat counter where two men were working and said again, "could I use the phone please" ? Both totally ignored him as if they didn't hear!!!!! Very fortunate that a man my husband had worked with came in right then, and offered to take my husband home. What has this world come to that three people in that store refused to let a Senior citizen use the phone when he had a car brake down? This was stunning, shocking, surprising, and really CRUEL too, on a 90 degree day. He would have had to walk the two miles home if that customer had not come in. This experience has put a new light on this local business that we have patronized for years. It's the neighbors here who keep them open, and this is how they treat customers and neighbors! This will not be soon forgotten.

The front cashier does not speak to you to say hello or goodbye. I actually hate going there because it's such an unfriendly grocery store. You get better service at the big box stores. Too bad because I'm all for the little businesses. But, the people at Danny's don't seem to care.

She was professional when the man was running his mouth. She handled it well and with composure. I was impressed because that is rare these days. I will be coming back. She handled my transactions very well despite the delay. Also, the store was well organized compared to a few I have been to. Very nice and I will be a regular.

The staff is very helpful and accommodating. Macy's Backstage had a better selection than the actual Macy's. We haven't went to a Macy's…read moreBackstage before and the items and selection was great. The prices were more affordable and the items were more modern and stylish. Only part that we weren't impressed with was that there is a giant brown stain that trailed throughout the blue carpet.
