Service was fast and got my orders in a timely manner. Their dirty chai and macadamia Mocha are both amazing drinks on ice during the summer. No indoor or outdoor seating available. Dollop is a real neighborhood gem. I used to come here all the time when I lived down the street. I believe this is the original location, and the best! The interior is more cool grandma's house than the modern/minimalist/sleek coffee shop design that seems to be all the rage elsewhere (*cough Intelligentsia*), and I appreciate that. Lots of local art, dusty old plants, etc. It's comfy and unpretentious. There's quite a lot of space, but as others have mentioned, the wifi is hit or miss; I recommend sitting towards the front of house if you've got work to do. There are games and books in the back room to keep you entertained, though. Coffee is obviously great, and they usually have interesting drinks beyond the standard espresso fare. My favorite was the honey-cinnamon latte. Their sandwiches are surprisingly decent and they make their own pastries. Plus, their pies are from Hoosier Mama. Perfect to pair with a coffee! Dollop is a very "homey" coffeeshop with a lot of character. There are two rooms: one large central sitting room with tables and high chairs (where the baristas are) and a cozy room at the far back of the shop, which has couches and a kids play area. The baristas were very friendly and the prices were not too bad either. They also have a large selection of drinks. I got a latte and my friend got a London Fog tea latte. I thought my latte was forgettable, but my friend really liked hers. They also serve all their drinks in cool mugs too, which was neat. My only gripe with this shop: shoddy Wi-Fi. They have two Wi-Fi points, but both would disconnect every five-ish minutes or so. It wasn't just an issue for me: it was happening to my friend too. Usually I don't notice the Wi Fi, but it honestly started to affect how much work I could get done, which doesn't happen a lot to me in coffee shops. The food is delicious (hello, they had me at Hoosier Mama pies!), the decor is eclectic, and the wifi is great. Best of all, the staff turnover is low, which means, staff and neighborhood regulars alike are more like friends hanging out than anything. I especially love hanging out in the back room. I have been here many times. Coffee is fine and food decent. Generally, I give it a C+. The owner (I think) wields some mighty attitude occasionally and can be seen playing with (I think) her child in a loud, obnoxious way throughout the cafe. If you are working or doing something that requires any kind of concentration, it is impossibly distracting. I would never think to ask her to keep it down based upon her reaction to other simple suggestions that I have made in the past. Visited today 7/16/19. Paid $5 for a decaf ice coffee. Person behind the counter was less than friendly. I asked for almond milk with it. He casually put it on the counter for me to use. Almond milk was low and honestly spilled. I was outside on the patio w a kid tutoring. I didn't have the energy or care to even question the spoiled almond milk. I had two sips and was done. I didn't think I would get much or a response from the guy behind the counter and figured I wasted my $5. I stopped in here earlier today for a scone and coffee. The wait wasn't that long - maybe 2 minutes. I ordered the house blend and a chocolate chip scone. The pastry was good but wow that coffee was way too strong for my taste. I asked the person behind the counter if it was mild Md he said yes. All I can say is it wasn't to me. I'm give 4 stars because overall the place was clean and well kept. Initially, I sat in front but eventually moved to the back, part the bathrooms, in the quiet area. The reason? Coffee that will knock your socks off. Food is mediocre. I go for good old fashioned cup of coffee -- nothing fancy, and their newly released roasted beans. It's by far the best coffee within walking distance of my house. Has a great local feel and is an awesome location for reading, as there are many hidden quiet nooks. I used to come here back in the day when I was a grad student. Their line of coffee beans is excellent. I like taking their beans home to make pour overs and French presses. It definitely elevates my morning. I'm really glad they came out with this line. While the cafe has a good local feel, the space could use a touch up. It feels a bit dingy and dark. I have tried this cafe multiple times and I have yet found a coffee drink that I liked. Today pretty much made me give up. Not only was the oat milk almond joy horrible, but I got scolded by another customer about how loud my phone was. I was just watching random videos on Facebook that were funny. I wasn't trying to bother anyone and I apologized. That was not the only time I got yelled at. Another time I got yelled at by a worker for not wearing my mask when I was just sitting and drinking my drink. Todays experience ruined my day. Moving to the neighborhood, I realized there are not many places to go sit, have coffee, and work. Perhaps, I am used to the college setting of Depaul & LP having plenty of coffee shops/areas to work. But I am SO grateful for Dollop!!! They have so much to offer from different type of coffees, flavors, teas, snacks, little meals like salads/sandwiches, and some bakery items. The drinks are better than the food, in my opinion. My go-to is the Honey Cinnamon Latte! Has a sweet taste without being over the top. The inside is very cute and quirky with ample space to work. They have large tables, which is great for working with a few people or allowing anyone to sit together. Which I prefer over those smaller, 2 people type of tables that get filled up so quickly in other coffeeshops. They have a back room as well, which I didn't discover right away because they have so much room up front that I didn't need to look hard for seating. If you order "for here", they place your drink/entree in actual mugs and plates, making it very homey. They are type of coffee mugs that I feel like I use at home. Fantastic coffee house that works with the neighborhood around it in terms of being comfy and cool but funky at the same time. Put together with reclaimed furniture and odds and ends that make it that much more appealing knowing these folks care enough about our environment not to waste. Their pastries, sandwiches and small bites are generously portioned and made with fresh ingredients by caring people. I love their coffee and their assorted cafe drinks are top shelf as well. I have not had a bad bite or drink here yet. It's a writers dream cafe, old school, unpretentious and full of creative vibes. There really is positive energy at Dollop. I get more done there in an hour than I can get done at home all day. Thankfully I'm right around the corner. The staff is eclectic and super friendly, sadly some patrons can be a bit pretentious. The staff makes this place, even for my crabby ass. I enjoy the fact that they are who they are and not afraid to show themselves off. I wish I could be like them. They are true cafe people who know the biz and do what they do really well. It's also refreshing that most (not all) but most of the patrons clean up after themselves not leaving the place dirty for the staff to clean up like servants. Cool people in a cool spot. Spacious with a nice sized main room and ample space share for patrons and an excellent backroom for a little more privacy and quiet. The decor gets ones creative juices flowing and they even have reading material in the extra large loo! Dollop patio has that urban neighborhood vibe on a pretty quiet major street. Just had an Americano from here. It barely tastes like coffee. I was hoping for some good tastin' coffee and am highly disappointed.

My colleagues and I had an hour to spare and just happened to be down the street from Dollop Coffee. I was pretty full from a delicious dinner at Urban Belly, but when Gabi K of Phoenix Yelp fame started talking about the delicious white hot chocolate she had the night before I had to get some for myself. Fortunately, Dollop had some white chocolate (ghirardelli!) waiting for me! While it wasn't the best hot chocolate I've ever had (I think i may prefer milk chocolate when it comes to hot chocolate) it did the trick of providing me with something sweet... Farrah A of Houston Yelp fame also ordered a carrot cupcake and was sweet enough to give me a bite. It was pretty good, although I think I've had tasted that cupcake before at Alliance Bakery so I'm going to guess Dollop gets their baked goods from them. And yes, apparently I know my cupcakes just a little too well... As for the rest of the gang...they ordered cups of tea, coffee, and made themselves at home among the other hard people at work on their laptops. I was surprised to see there were a bunch of people here on a Thursday night, but then again it's finals time for students so I guess it shouldn't be too surprising. I barely ever make coffee at home anymore because I love dollop so much, and not just in the morning.. it's actually a great place to hang out at night and get some work done. Free wireless, good salads and pastries and great music. Sometimes they have random furniture and bikes and stuff for sale and I actually bought my guitar and amp at dollop! I had been drooling over it for few days and finally just called the number. Had a few consultants with me and after a solid little coffee shop hang, that baby was mine all mine. I was starving after leaving for my flight at 5am this morning and finally getting time to eat at 10:30am. Thanks to Yelp I found a place that had free wifi for me to work until I checked into my lodging down the street at 2pm........ And this place seemed to be a Mecca for the locals.... As soon as I walked in I noticed the old school big band style music playing in the background, an old school 50's metal radio cover used as a lamp shade, friendly staff, and the relaxed overall vibe of the place. A mix of tables with people lightly chatting to those with laptops studying in the back, or those eased back with a book in hand slowly sipping their coffee....It was busy with regulars ahead of me in line ordering.... what they ALWAYS ordered.... Because they keep coming back again and again. Michelle, who took my order with a friendly smile, and playful spirit recommended a pumpernickel bagel filled with tomatoes, cucumber, onions, chives, and cream cheese!! It was flippin AMAZING, unlike anything I've had before!! Those in line raved about their coffee and pie and said I must try them also. I believe I will just stay here for another hour and order again.... Why not? So I just ordered the ginger molasses cookie.... They only had one left and that bad boy was thick!! It was incredibly rich and sweet.... Would be even better if I had a coffee with it.... After eating half I decided to randomly share it with other people that had never tried it.... Im not truly an active coffee drinker so my review for this place may not be as enthusiastic as others. I happened to walking by on a nice Saturday afternoon while hungover and thought hmmm a coffee would sound good right now. From the outside it definitely looked like a cool place to be and when I walked in I realized if I was a coffee drinker I would come here often. It just had a nice vibe to it as it seems like the place folks come to write their screenplays or something equally awesome. Great coffee shop with amazing atmosphere. I love working here during the day because they have lots of places to sit and plug-in and they offer a discount on "for here" orders. The drinks and food are all I could hope for and the pricing is competitive. My one qualm (truly the only one) is that they have terrible internet. To be honest, my motivation in writing this is the hopes they'll see this and invest in better internet, I often get multiple rounds of drinks while working here and only leave because the internet stops working or becomes painfully slow. Dollop is exactly what I expect a coffee house to be, a true cafe, which makes me feel like I'm in NYC, especially when I'm in their lower floor/basement peering out their half window of the sidewalk. Its comfy, cozy, dark, studious. There are a few couches for you and your friends to hang out and talk like you were at home. There are tables, there are books and books which you are free to read. When it rains or when it storms, its great to come here and feel at home (when the last thing you want to do is stay at home feeling like crap). Its a perfect getaway, to disappear if you want or to talk if you want. The baristas are great and friendly. Great coffee shop. I was by Gill Park and needed to find a place to do some work. I prefer independent coffee shops but Starbucks was across the street so tried there first, but it was jam packed. It turns out that was a blessing in disguise. A quick yelp search landed me a short walk away to Dollop. The photos that were on Yelp didn't do it justice, so I'll add a couple. [update: turns out there were plenty of good photos; I thought there were only a couple of photos. Operator error...] The cafe has plenty of good functional work space and a great feel. It was lively and full, but didn't feel claustrophobic. It's a little worn around the edges, but not in a bad way. Its tasteful decor makes it feel comfortable and cozy and pleasant. The staff was friendly and efficient. I only had a croissant and coffee, but they were perfect: the croissant was crisp and flaky on the outside and the latte was delicious, with a lovely cream penned design. So I admit, thusfar my experience with Dollop is kind of limited. I, for some reason, only just discovered this place. As it's about six blocks from home, I'm sort of mad for wasting so much money on the crappy coffee under the red line. Dollop is definitely the superior choice. The atmosphere in Dollop is perfect. Everything from the tables and chairs to the staff themselves give off a great relaxed vibe. When I came in last week to work on school related things, they were playing Paul Simon and I actually didn't even bother to pull out my headphones. I'm a sucker for a good coffee shop with great music. The coffee (Metropolis) is obviously delicious. It's hard to mess up good beans. Their earl grey tea is the best I've drank (I'm actually sitting at home thinking I should go over there today despite it being a whopping 1 degree out right now). The food is great -- I'm hooked on the pb & banana sandwich, and my housemate brought home a slice of chocolate pie that other day that was incredibly delicious as well. Not only has the food and drinks impressed me, but the service as well. The baristas are actually friendly (a rarity it seems in this town), and not only were they friendly to me but I watched them be super friendly and chatty to some neighborhood kids that came in after school let out. As a former coffee shop employee, I love seeing that level of friendliness with customers, especially regulars. Overall, Dollop is definitely my new favorite coffee joint in Chicago. And I'm pleased as punch, because the jaunt over to Wicker to go to Filter was getting old. My only complaint is the $5 minimum to use a credit card.. I wish they could do like what Filter does and find an alternate payment method like Level Up for those of us that don't carry cash and may just want to get a second cup of tea. read more

Since I moved to this neighborhood from New York a few years ago, I've been coming to this coffee shop. I find this shop to be a good place to work and get some good food. Their coffee is one of the best I've had and they make a killer turkey sandwich. My wife normally goes there to work because she finds this location very relaxing. It's a wonderful coffee shop and their baristas are always friendly and respectful. This coffee shop is definitely one of my favorite places in my neighborhood and it's not just because of the great coffee. When I reported all of this to the company, the CEO got back to me promptly, apologized for the employee's response, and said he was going over there immediately and would get back to me. What makes Dollop good is it has a true local cafe vibe. It also has plentiful space for using laptops or to catchup with friends. My suggestion would be to ensure staff know the differences between a latte and a macchiato. Macchiato is espresso, with a stain of textured milk. Also when a customer asks for extra extractions/espresso shots it shouldn't become a situation where baristas are in disbelief that anyone could actually want more than a double extraction/two shots and project a slight attitude. read more
