Broth was not amazing -- I thought it was too sour, noodles were the same as the mustard green and pork noodle soup, but the beef was really good (strong flavor and perfect texture) - Popcorn chicken was solid. It was crispy and juicy, with good seasoning. - Oyster pancake was okay. Not a lot of oysters, but the pancake was gooey, as it should be, and the flavors were yummy. - Pork on rice had good flavor and is another solid dish. Saturday brunch mood, with Taiwanese street food! I've never had Taiwanese food before and it was so tasty. My roommates and it were excited to try this place after it had been recommended by some friends. Dolphin Bay met expectations. The spicy wantons were not spicy at all, which is perfect for me because I can't handle spicy food! The "spicy" sauce was SO good. It had a red vinegarish/ soy sauce taste that went well with the wantons. The popcorn chicken was well flavored and crunchy. The fried rice had a sweet ketchup after taste, and this reminded me of my childhood, when I added ketchup to plain white rice. The oyster pancakes was my least favorite dish. I think this is a matter of taste/ preference because my roommate loved it. I personally thought the oysters were too oystery and chewy if that makes sense. Aside from the oysters the pancake had a gooey/ chewy taste, and I did like it because it tasted good. They have a bunch of Taiwanese classics that are good whether you're dining in or taking out. It's not the best Taiwanese in the world, but it's fast, friendly, and affordable, so I can't complain. So when everyone's food came out, two of us did not have anything and we had to check back with her to find out she put it in as one order. I would expect she would've double checked when she was taking orders if she was confused, because I would be confused if 3 adults planned to share one noodle bowl while everyone else at the table ordered their own dish. The staff is friendly but it was also hard to get their attention for small things such as more water, napkins, or to pay the bill. I ordered a ton of stuff from their menu and found most of them to be pretty good. However, I did have some comments. - Oyster omelet: don't order this. It was way too gooey and starchy. - Dan bing (egg pancake): very simple. It was just an egg wrapped in a scallion pancake but I wish the scallion pancake had been crispier and flakier. - Bean curd / appetizer combo: I wish the bean curd had been cold instead of warmed up. The braised egg is tasty but not worth buying on its own. - Small pork rice: uneven ratio of minced pork to rice. There was too much rice and it would have been fine if the minced pork was saucier to coat the rice but it wasn't. - Popcorn chicken: delicious! Super crispy. The noodle dishes have lots of noodles in them. It's good since it will definitely fill you up, if the appetizers hadn't already. However, I do wish there were more ingredients/toppings. The braised beef noodle soup only had a few pieces of beef shank and tendon. As they were bringing it over, it was also spilling everywhere which the staff just laughed at and didn't apologize for. Ahhhh the food of my people. THIS is my kind of comfort food. My brother and I rolled up on a rainy day and ordered braised chicken leg over rice and fried pork cutlet over rice with a side of Taiwanese sausage. And it had huge portions! We were so full and it was so tasty. Wish there was a bit more sauce on the rice but its no biggie. Food was still so good and tastes just like home. Having spent a lot of my childhood eating food in Taiwan, I am often skeptical of Taiwanese restaurants in the states. I was pleasantly surprised by this place! Cute decorations but there is usually only one waiter/waitress so the service is a little slow. Shaved ice: great for a hot day and it is HUGE. You can choose up to four toppings and they have many fruit options. The toppings are placed on a giant bed of ice which is sweetened with brown sugar syrup. Definitely shareable between 3-4 people since it's such a large portion. Beef noodle soup: the broth tastes very authentic! They give you the option between having all meat or a mix of meat and tendon. The meat is very tender and practically melts on your tongue. Taiwanese food is not spicy in general but you can ask for the noodle soup to be spicy, and they will add more chili peppers to the soup. The portion of noodles is pretty large, so this is good for sharing or if you're hungry. San bei ji three cup chicken: chicken sauteed with basil, ginger, and garlic. I couldn't figure out if it was a mix of white and dark meat or if the dish also includes pieces of pork. Nicely seasoned and a great option if you want chicken but don't want anything deep fried. Chicken cutlet with rice: chicken is very crispy and has similar seasoning to popcorn chicken. The outside is crispy while the inside stays moist and tender. Minced pork rice: tastes authentic and reminds me of what you can get at street stalls or night market stalls in Taiwan. The menu in general is very shareable even if it's not "family style" so definitely a great place to check out if you want to try a diverse menu. read more

Came here with a party of 7 right at 11am on a Sunday for my partner's birthday lunch with his family. I highly recommend getting the pop corn chicken as a appetizer to share! When we first walked into the restaurant, we had to wait to be seated as there was dirty plates on many empty tables. Once we were seated, it took a couple minutes for us to be given minutes and then more time passed for us to be given hot tea. It took over 30 minutes for 3 of our meals to be served. This is the best Taiwanese restaurant I've been to on the East Coast. Their food fills my heart and belly with indescribable joy. Popcorn chicken is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. The appetizers were alright - the popcorn style chicken was very good, however the scallion beef roll was not as crispy and good as many of the other times I tried this similar dish. For the main entree, I ordered the spicy wonton noodles which were really good - loved the flavor. My wife had the fried pork chop with rice since she was craving it and she really liked how it was prepared and the flavor.
