Great auto shop! I used to go to Mavis to swap my tires and change oil but each time something would go wrong. They even forgot to fill oil after they drained the engine!! Needed tune up and service engine light on. Was told engine light was a temperature sensor and control. With tune up, sensor and board 3K. Tune up done first as sensor had to be ordered. Was given back car after tune up with only five of six cylinders firing. brought back in was told they installed a bad spark plug. Sensor came in, brought car back in completed job. Next day engine light back on and temperature read 108 when it was 65. Then would read -20 when it was 65. Brought back in several times before they realized it was the wire to sensor was bad. 3K, SIX visits to get job done, missed a day and a half of work. All for a $10.00 wire!!!! On 8/5/2020 I brought my SUV to Dolson for a oil change, state inspection, to change a light bulb above my license plate and to check my suspension and brakes. I have so many issues about my service. First, my bill came out to $1,521.06. That is outrageous!! Dolson charged me for "diagnostic work" just to "look" at my truck. It took 3 days for me to get my truck back and it's only because I called them at about 3:30 pm on Saturday (8/8/20) to find out what's going on with the truck. On top of all this, they did not change my light bulb but charged me for it. During the time, they had the truck, a homeless person broke into the truck and stole several items because the mechanic left the door unlock in the parking lot. My truck failed the state inspection because I had error codes that should have been pre-inspected before the state inspection. They charged me to check my tires for a slow leak yet there was no slow leak. So, I paid over $1,500 for a state inspection that failed, a oil change, and a light bulb change that never got replaced. They promised me a free car wash and a $50 discount if I paid over $250 for repairs. I didn't get the free car wash or $50 discount because Dolson claimed I didn't read the fine print. They never offered to give me a credit for the diagnostic fees they charged so I have to file a complaint with Visa to get a charge back credit to my account. I am very unhappy with the service from Dolson and will never use them again!!!! read more

Don't bring your car there for NY STATE INSPECTION. They will find very minor issues and threaten to fail you for it if you don't buy overpriced parts from them. I brought my car in for State inspection and they told me my windshield wiper has wears on them. I was like of course it gonna have wears, because they were used... they worked perfectly fine and windshield is clear during use. They told me as long as it has wears they can fail you for inspection... $40 for a pair of windshield wiper blades... where I can get a pair at Walmart for $10 or less. Rip off and scams. I never had that problem... ever... first time I heard of this BS. $40 for a lesson learned. read more

My vehicle is always a 3-year lease, so I'm not concerned about maintaining its longevity, as near the end of 2022, it will probably be turned into scrap by Honda -- even though it will have less than 15K mileage. Oil change prices seem to have skyrocketed recently. So although it is my predilection to comparison shop, this time I spent looking for a decent, fair price, and honesty from the vendor. Long story, shorter. A phone call to Dolson led me to Mike, the owner. He gave me a price and strongly suggested I look around online for coupons. Coupons? They're part of my healthy diet! I found a coup applicable to Honda & Toyota with a full synthetic oil change (up to 5 qts) for $34.99. What? I couldn't even find a non-synthetic change for that price. I emailed the shop and asked if I needed to print the coupon or just load it onto my phone. (Printing stuff irks me.) The response was to email it to them. I did and a few hours later, I got a reply that said coup is applicable, set up an appt and come by. I showed up around 12:20 PM on a Tuesday. The place didn't seem busy, left the car with the very professional manager named Titus and then moseyed on over to Sloprite [sic]. After about 40 mins, I got a call from Titus saying that my vehicle was ready. However, just before I made the turn to drive into Dolson Tire, I got a warning that tire pressure was low. I assumed it was the annoying left front tire, as I been adding air to it. Well, it wasn't. Titus said they found a nail in the right rear tire and wanted permission to fix it. Of course, I said yes. They could have lied and told me that several tires needed replacement; hey, that's what they do: sell tires. Three minutes later (really) he phoned back and the car was ready for pick-up. To find an automotive shop that offers a service at a fraction of other vendors' prices, gives honest diagnoses, and is not far away, is shocking in these dismal times. He gets to know his customers and is very honest. Pricing is always fair, and Ryan makes sure we get the best items (tires, etc...) for the best prices. I recently visited Dolson Tire and Car Wash on a brutally hot day. I noticed the young car wash staff drying and cleaning cars with 100% effort. I mentioned to the manager that they are the reason I will continue going there even after that big new car wash opens up down the block. Fast forward to this past weekend when I left there and somehow ended up dropping my wallet. I didn't realize it was gone until I got home later that evening with no idea of where it was. I spent the next 48 hours feverishly looking with no luck. Until yesterday afternoon when I got a call from MARTY asking if I'd lost anything recently. I shouted "YES! MY WALLET"! After asking me for particulars to make sure it was really mine, he said " well I have it, come and get it". He ran my name in their computer against the name and address on my license, and having been a customer there, my phone number was listed. I cannot even begin to stress how important it was for me to get that wallet back for some very important items in there aside from the credit cards and drivers license. I arrived within minutes and my new best friend Marty was waiting for me with my wallet, completely intact, in hand. I commend Dolson Tire for employing such an amazing, honest, honorable man! My inspection expired in August, my fault entirely, I went on 9/1 to have my car inspected. They told me I'd have to wait and I had no problem with that. Thankfully the wait wasn't too long, but unfortunately my car failed inspection due to ONE tire showing treads. My car is All Wheel Drive so it is advised to replace ALL 4 if even one needs to be replaced. Lucky me, they had 4 tires in stock and could replace them right then and I would pass my inspection. It would only cost $95 per tire plus installation and alignment. The brand of the tire wasn't even mentioned. I said no thank you, I get my tires at Sam's Club. Sam's offers great prices and free installation sometimes. Their response was "if you apply for this credit card to pay for the tires you can get 10% off". Again, I said no thank you. Their response was, we can order you some cheap tires but they won't be delivered until Tuesday and you can get reinspected then. I said, I'm not going to put cheap tires on my car just to pass inspection. So they took my sticker and I paid the inspection fee and left. A day later it dawned on me that I have a perfectly good FULL SIZE Spare tire mounted to the back of my car so I'll change the tire and get it reinspected, which I did and I passed. Now why wouldn't Dolson Auto Service have thought to do that? Just to get me to buy 4 new tires? Yup, I think so! read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. First I make an appointment over the phone to get tires changed. They said over the phone it would take less than an hour. On the day of the appointment it takes almost 2 hours and a half to get it done. They charged me to get my TPMS light reset and when I leave the place my cars tpms light is on (when it wasn't on before). They said it will go away after I drive it for a bit. I drove the car for a little while and it still hadn't gone away so I call to tell them the situation on a Friday and try to make an appointment. However, they said just come in any day whenever I'm free and fixing the issue would only take approximately 30 minutes. I come in on a Monday and one of the worker (Murray?) tells me I have to come back because the manager doesn't work on Mondays and he's the only one who can fix my issue. That would have been nice to know when I called before. While there, this Murray guy is rude, gives an attitude, and cuts me off every time I try to complete a sentence. At one point, he gives me the managers card and says to call him and walks away before I could finish asking him a question. Another worker does apologize to me for the other guys attitude. Hopefully, I can get better service and respect from the manger the next time I call to fix the issue. read more

We have a new all wheel drive vehicle and one of the tires had a problem. We drove to Dolson Tire as the GPS showed it to be the closest tire place. They immediately brought the car in for a check up, determined that a bolt had entered the tire and sought to patch it so that we could avoid the expense of a new tire. The patch was successful and we were on our way in a few minutes. They were very honest, provided excellent, prompt service and were a pleasure to deal with. If I lived in the Middletown area this would be the place I would go for my tires and basic maintenance services. read more

I purchased tires and scheduled an appointment to have them mounted on my spare set of rims. When I showed up for the appointment, the guy at the desk absolutely refused to help me. There was a mechanic in the shop with no cars. As a customer, I have never felt to unimportant to any business, until now. When I got home I called Goodyear to let them know of this incident, and they called Dolson Auto only to get the same response from this man that I did. Hopefully they will straighten this man out. DISHONEST and GREEDY. Both management and front desk are very deceptive. CARE LESS FOR REAL PEOPLE--CUSTOMERS. Went for an inspection. they said that it need a light bulb for the tag. that's it. would not cost much. after a while MANAGER and front desk schemer are coming back saying that it is more than they thought, not a simple job and began to calculate how many HOURS it will take! I looked at the they exorbitant rate $108 per hour and suggested to change that little bulb at Toyota, which will be free for me because car is certified Toyota. they said OK. and slapped me with FAILED INSPECTION! NEVER TOLD ME THAT if I change the bulb at Toyota they will FAIL MY INSPECTION! Very dishonest and greedy. they would never do that to their OWN FAMILY MEMBER! I hope. but YOU--are not their family. My serpentine belt was clearly defected. There was a piece coming off, like it was shredding. I got my car towed here and the guy told me he would be able to look at it that day and do a diagnostics if NEEDED. I told him what was wrong because you can see it as soon as you open the hood. He said fine then we don't need the diagnostics. My car gets there and they don't look at it until maybe 30 mins before closing. I specifically called the guy and asked if he could take my car that morning and fix what was wrong, he said yes. He calls me to tell me he wants his specialist to look at it.. FOR WHAT. I told you what was wrong and you can clearly see the belt is shredding. But I let his specialist look at it for whatever reason. They call me the next day and tell me what I already told him, and wanted to charge me for a diagnostics. I was pissed and then "then discounted the work" to make me happy. they put on the belt and then it turns out to be the harmonic balancer that needs to be replaced as well. The diagnostics you performed, didn't tell you that before wasting more of my time?!? So you gave me a diagnostics, changed me for it and then didn't even find out the problem until way after the fact. Of course I'm pissed by now. Then the lady on the phone does her recalculations to " discount it some more after they heard my mouth about the price of labor and everything" Long story short they will try and get over on you and charge you an arm and a leg for their own mishaps. Do NOT take your car here if you are not experienced with cars and can back them down with hard facts about your own car. I will NEVER go here again because I feel like they took advantage because I was a female. I paid almost $500 for parts, labor and God knows what else. Utterly horrible experience. My car started having problems in a mall nearby, and AAA towed me to Dolson because I'm from NJ and I didn't know the area. The guy answering the phone was rude, unprofessional and impatient when I asked questions. Service was incredibly slow, and they charged me $500 for a job my local mechanic estimated should cost me $200. It's been a month and I already had to go to a mechanic AGAIN for the same problem because THEY DIDN'T FIX IT RIGHT! The worse part is, I changed the oil a week before, and when I was at the mall I checked the level and it was fine, but they tried to sell me a $30 oil change because apparently it was "dirty and low".
