not very happy with my last visit to Mavis in Monroe NY , I went in there for a warranty issue with my shocks and they fixed the shocks at no cost no problem but ask them about another issue with my ABS and when I left the business the brake light stayed on and it was not on before, they gave me a high price to fix my ABS and said the reason why the brake light was on was because of the ABS. Again my brake light was not on and Mavis was the last company to install my brakes. very disappointed with this company and for years have been a dedicated customer. Service and quality was overall excellent. Peter had the tires I ordered ready when I arrived, and they took my car right in and got to work. Peter also suggested I replace the battery and brake pads, which I already knew I needed, so they weren't trying to upsell me unnecessary work and I felt no pressure. Although I made the appointment with Mavis at 11:00am for four tires and an alignment I received my vehicle at 1:48pm. The gentleman at the front desk by the name of Parker was very helpful and kept me updated throughout the process. I had a flat tire and was driving on a doughnut, so I called yesterday to see if they could fit me in. They told me to come in the next day and when I asked what time they said I didn't need an appointment, to just come in between 8 and 3. I arrived at 9:30, bought two tires ($424, which seemed high, but I was not in a position to dicker), was told it would be two hours as I was seventh in line. I sat for three hours while they took care of everyone else, including people who arrived after me. When I questioned them, their response was, "those people made appointments so they take precedence over you.") I pointed out that I had requested an appointment and was told it was not necessary, and was basically told that was a me problem not a them problem, but I was up next. PLEASE PLEASE do not do business with this company. The low ratings that they have are well deserved. Im not talking about the people at the store but corporate and customer service. I got pricing on the phone from corporate who then sends the invoice to the store. I ordered tires for 2 vehicles and both estimates I received on the phone were almost $200 more when I got to the store. They tell you on the phone that mounting and balancing are included and the price I Was given is "out the door". Then at the store they try to charge me $80 for balancing and $14 for tire disposal. I asked several times to speak with a manager and was told that a manager would call me by 1PM and of course no phone call. I called back in and was then told that managers dont talk to customers and the customer service rep told me the manager reviewed my case and couldnt do anything. Starting with the positive: Ordered 2 front tires to be mounted, had wheels aligned and since I was there and it was on the rack I had the oil changed. A shorter wait than I expected for all services. Was greeted in a courteous and professional manner. Asked and received discounts for coupons I did not have. Was satisfied with final price for all services. Drive home less than a mile. Next day drive about 20 miles then waiting for a light I got a "low oil pressure" error message. Never saw that on my car ever, not once. Pulled over immediately and checked the oil, it was full. Drive over to the Mafia where service was performed, about a mile. Message continued to appear when stopped at a light and in drive. Presented problem to man at desk after parking and turning car off. Again I checked oil and it was fine,checked under car, no leaks. After I had brought the car in and they started I was given a list of things they recommended to be repaired. Struts, brakes etc. things I was not interested in them doing, there was no mention of anything to do with oil pump or anything that would cause an oil pressure drop. When I came back they just wanted me gone everything they suggested could be the problem was because it was an old car (2005) "these things happen sometimes when the oil is changed". Nothing they thought could be the problem was something they offered there, so they said. They wanted me to be gone, not much interest in anything I said, so I left and will go to a real mechanic. read more

Had an appointment today to change a tire, was quoted a price and as soon as I pulled into the parking lot I received a call from Chris stating that he was cancelling my appointment as he was to busy. He offered no other rescheduling option. There was literally a spare tire on my car and had already come 30 minutes to this appointment. I called Dolson Tire & Auto immediately after and told them the story .. they were not surprised. Thankfully Dolson Tire & Auto were were able to help, no problem. This place obviously has 2 1/2 stars for a reason.. unfortunately was stuck on a Sunday. Typically I would go to Tire Discount Center (76 Dolson Ave) but they were closed. I waited to post this review for a good amount of time. This place caused the largest migraine I think I've ever had. They put the wrong tires on my boyfriend's car. How does that even happen? The word tire is literally in the name of your establishment. They fixed their mistake but only after giving us a hard time. We reverted to a one car (my car) household for a week when we both worked full time jobs with different hours outside the home during a pandemic. It would have been easier if he never had a tire replacement and we never came into contact with Mavis whatsoever. Two thumbs down. Do not go here. read more

The Good: I have 4 new tires that I wanted. They are quiet and ride well. The Challenges: I had to order the tires I wanted. They came a day later than I was told they would. I called ahead to confirm they were there, arrived with the car at 12:45 pm and said I would wait. They pulled the car in around 3:30 pm and finished installing the tires around 4:30 pm. The final price seemed high. I determined that they hadn't given me paperwork for a $70 rebate that was factored into the quote. I was informed that I 'should have told [them] I wanted the rebate.' I questioned that and got an aggressive 'yup' response. That is when the manager (I assume) asked that person to leave and finished the paperwork for him. They didn't torque the lug nuts with a torque wrench. They used the impact gun until it stopped. I chose to fix this myself as I was very tired of waiting and found them to be 10% tighter than the specs call for. Not terrible or a risk, just avoidable. I also had to put my spare tire away myself. It was just thrown into the trunk. Had they looked in the trunk they would have found the tools to remove the lug nut caps and saved themselves time on the install. and they did a terrible job with the stick on wheel weights. They removed the old ones with something metal, gouged the rim, and left the foam glue. They stuck new weights to the side of the old glue. What kills me is that they could have turned around twice as many vehicles in the same time, had happy customers across the board and had more free time if they had shown 10% more motivation. Instead, we all ended the day angry. read more

Mavis is like the Dollar Store for your tire needs. They are cheap and you expect them to a POS based on their price. I bought four tires for our Odyssey in January of 2018. We put about 35K miles on them and when I took the car in to get them rotated (which took 5 hours to do..no joke) I get a call from them telling me that they will not rotate the tires because the tires are so worn that they could pop at any moment. Needless to say I did not but another set from this shady business. I now have to get them looked at by a real tire place and most likely have to buy 4 new tires. I knew the tires were not the best on the market when I bought them..but they should last at least 50K miles. I highly suggest that you stay away from dealing with this business unless you are looking for a great price on a horrible product and sub par customer service. read more

I went into the Dolson store to speak with the manager and the disrespectful tone in which one of the two individuals behind the counter was very unprofessional. It was my intent to let them know the issues but instead was berated and attacked and it took a lot for me to keep my composure. As a member of the Armed Forces for over 39 years I see why they lose so many of their customers. Besides being slow, I have never personally had a problem here. I have been going here for the past 5 years. My wife went in without me for a simple tire rotation and they scared her to death when they told her she was endangering her and our children's lives if she didn't get her brakes and rotors all done. She asked for a quote and it was unbelievable. They talked her down to just brake pads and she agreed. She was unaware but her brakes were just done 6 months earlier at Monro Muffler with lifetime pads. She paid for the brakes and the rotation and will never return. Neither will I. read more

I made a reservation for 2pm to install two tires and they made me wait almost three hours and still my car was not in the shop. I tried to communicate to them about how long the wait time was and if they could help us out more and what I received was attitude and sarcasm from the front desk man (Shane) . The place has 2 out of 5 stars and that is being generous. They don't even deserve 1 star , but yelp makes me put it . The workers didn't even care about the work that us customers pay for , they were sitting on their phones and giggling while so many people were waiting. I have been here numerous times and the result is always the same . I'm never ever coming here again and I recommend no one else to come either. There are several issues with this place. We've gone a total of 2 times, mainly for emergency needs regarding an alignment and tires. The first venture to this wonderful cluster of insanity, we had called in advance for pricing for tires and wheel balancing. End result was 3 additional visits due to bad alignment and bad balance. And the price substantially changed in an upwards direction after the pricing quote. Now, when we presented the fact that we had called in advance for the pricing, there was no record of it in the system (this particular site uses a call center if the 2 employees working the front can't handle the phones). After discussing this major inconvenience, we asked if the representative could be spoken to about the poor information we received over the phone. We were told yes, as all call center employees have a tag to identify who wrote it. Our second venture, which was just as horrific. Again, we called in advance, for the call center again. Got the pricing for another alignment and another balancing of the wheels. When we got there, price doubled the quote. Now my wife had gone in prior to me, when I walked in, the tune changed and the price was honored that we were quoted. This is the old gender bias that is in play, which is horrific. Also, we asked the front employee to check who we spoke to over the phone. "Oh, we can't look that up." So whose lying, you or the last guy from last time? Anyway, we go to pick up the car, and 2 things of interest, one of the headlight bulbs is out, and the tire pressure light is on. We ask which headlight is out, and we are told "I don't know". But for an additional fee they'll replace it... The parts were less and literally took 5 minutes to replace all 4. (Hi and Lo beams) In regards to the tire pressure light, we're aware that it takes time for the sensor to react after refilling the tires, but to put her mind at ease, I went in just to ask if the tires were checked for pressure. "I don't know" was the response I got. So we wheel the car to the tire fill station, and lo and behold, 3 of them were under pressurized, and 1 was over pressurized. When I asked how this happened to where a technician forgets to check something as such, when the work order involves tires, "oh, he's new. Must have slipped his mind." So here's what I take away from this Mavis Location... 1) The quote is worthless, regardless of the simplicity of the work being done. 2) Never expect the first visit to be your only visit. 3) Expect an inexperienced tech with no supervision to work on your vehicle. 4) Don't expect anyone to know what was actually done. 5) Pray to the Rosary before going, you'll have a better chance of that working than you would for fair practices. read more

I gave one star because zero wasn't an option. I set up an appointment for my daughter to have four tires put on. She left the car all day and when she called after work she was told the tires were in the truck still and they could do it tomorrow. After the employee bumbled with the keys, she took the car home. I called and was told that they couldn't get the tires. One guy says they're on the truck still, and another says that they couldn't get them. I don't think anyone knew anything. I set up an appointment with Firestone next door where I've been going for the last 16 plus years and will continue to do so. Awful place to go to! Unknowingly to me, my mechanic brought my Jeep to this store for a wheel alignment (one thing he can't do cause he doesn't have the equipment) after approximately 2 months of me driving around... The bolts that tighten the tire rods in place were never tightened back by Mavis (Intentionally) I could have lost control and died or killed someone else... I stopped going to them cause of there negligence, I had filed a complaint to the DMV's Safety Consumer Service Section (Through the better business bureau)... DONT GO TO THEM AT ALL!!! read more

They left my car unattended for nearly thirty minutes and then when the service was done and my car was driven out they told me a bunch of things I needed totaling $780 even though they barely looked at my car.
