It was closer to a cheese pizza with some tomato. No real flavor. The tiramisu was strange, heavy on texture and lacking coffee flavor. The mozzarella sticks were logs and way too big. French onion soup was extremely salty. Really not palatable. We got 8 dishes and the best one was "meh" Maybe it's because it was takeout? Service was wonderful in our brief interactions. So this time around, I was very disappointed. Not only in our food but our waiter and the hostess. Came in last night around 9 for dinner, she seemed bothered that we were dinning in and not ordering take out. Our waiter seemed distracted and unwelcoming. Took our order, kept forgetting basic things. Never came to check on us about food or if we needed refills on our beverages which we didn't get till the end of our meal. My family and I have been eating here for about 30 years. We have shared many family celebrations here and the pizza and salad is a staple that has drawn us back time and time again. It has that old, red booth, old world sort of charm. Nothing fancy or pretentious, more of a neighborhood go-to. The manager's son, Kyle, stopped by my table to say hello. He was very gracious and warm, and I appreciated that. Now the prices have definitely increased in the last few years, but I suppose prices everywhere have risen, so, par for the course. You laughed at my jokes and provided terrific, over-the-top service. Now the breakdown: Tasty bread basket with a delicious dipping sauce. I ate two. Hubbie was amazed. Eggplant Parm- one of my favorites when I go out for Italian food. Lovely, thin slices of tender eggplant over a generous bed of spaghetti. Enough to enjoy and enough for lunch tomorrow. Very good! Hubbie ordered the portobello stuffed ravioli in a creamy marinara sauce. I stabbed one quickly before he could jump in. He loves mushrooms. He loved it as did I. When you walk in your greeted by friendly and genuinely happy employees that escort you to your table and it feels like you're swept away in a Hollywood movie set. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, this is the type of place you want to take family close friends or that special someone you want to impress. The service was impeccable the general manager, our server in the hostess, were just the cherry on top. The food is delicious especially the table bread. We couldn't get enough of it. We went to Domenico's for a late lunch and the visit started a little rough. There was a busy pickup line, no hostess at the front, and it seemed like they were short staffed. Max, the manager, ended up stepping in and completely turned the experience around. He seated us, took our order, served the food, checked on us, and explained what they were known for. The ground pepperoni pizza was easily the highlight. We did half ground pepperoni and half chicken Alfredo, and the ground pepperoni was a 10/10. Max told us they're the only place in California that has the ground pepperoni pizza, which makes sense because it was definitely the standout. The calamari was also excellent. Big pieces, soft inside, crispy batter, and plenty of marinara. We also tried the creamy garlic salad and chicken marsala, which were both good. The tiramisu was also spectacular, and even though I normally don't like tiramisu, this one was so good. Overall, the food was great, but Max is the reason I wanted to leave a review. Mike was very welcoming from the moment we walked in and made it a point (like others) to make conversation with people dining. Alyssa was a great server as well and kept checking in on us. As someone who cooks Italian food at home too much, and as someone who never keeps less than four cans of san marzano tomatoes in my kitchen at any time, it's rare that an Italian restaurant blows me away anymore. I can think of two restaurants in the last three years that have actually made me moan. Domenico's is one of them. I've been here several times, and I haven't been disappointed yet. I don't expect to ever be disappointed to be honest. Everything here is spot on, from their pizzas and pastas, to the focaccia they give. I'd inject their balsamic sauce into my veins if I could. One tiny suggestion for their focaccia would be to make them just a tad bit less dense, and crispier. But I really don't care. Lasagna? Fire. Chicken marsala? FIRE. Everything is fire. The atmosphere is absolutely stunningly romantic. It's a perfect spot for dates, celebrations, or to just unwind. The staff are wonderful and attentive. Tip them well. The world doesn't crave the simpler things in life anymore. Come to Domenico's and they'll teach you a lesson in enjoying hearty, well-made food even if your life is in a state of flux. This italian restaurant has been around since 1957 for a reason, it's absolutely delicious. We went for Valentine's Day and luckily got offered to sit at the bar and avoid waiting any longer. The bar is very, very tiny. Our server Charlotte was really sweet and attentive. We got some drinks and then started with the bread, then our entrees. My husband got the chicken piccata and I got the gnocchi with Mariana cream as is. The gnocchi should be a delicacy, it's legit the best pasta I've ever had. It was so freaking good. I have been coming to Belmont Shore since before my son was born and he turns 18 this year and this was my first time experiencing Domenico's. Not sure why I never thought about eating here. All I have to say was that my dining experience was great. The food was delicious and the service was good. I tried their ground pepperoni pizza which is a pizza with a lot of ground pepperoni. The dough was nice and soft with just enough crunch. We also had their romaine special, a salad with Romaine lettuce, tomato wedges, black olives, and their famous house garlic dressing. I also had to try their delicious French Onion soup. It was the perfect temperature and had the right amount of cheese and bread. To complement our meal, we had their complementary bread and dipping sauce. Service was quick although they were busy for a Saturday night. We were sat down immediately and soon after taking our order, our food arrived. The server was attentive and I appreciated the manager checking in on us. The restaurant is pretty spacious with ample seating on both sides and the lighting was perfect. All that was needed was someone playing the accordion to make the night perfect. Parking on Belmont Shore can be tricky but not hard to find. I recommend Domenico's if you love Italian food. read more

Okay, I will have to say my favorite Italian restaurant is Eatalian in Gardena, as it is absolutely the most authentic Italian pizza and pasta that you can find in the Los Angeles area. The lasagna is very good, although it is made with ricotta cheese like most Italian restaurants do in the US. It is a large portion and you could probably share it with a friend. The apple - cranberry - walnut salad is large and excellent. Great combination of flavors, and quite satisfying. Overall, it is nice to go to an old school Italian restaurant for a change. The menu is concise and offers a good variety of appetizers, pizzas, and pastas and not screwing up by trying to offer way too many dishes as some places do.
