Started with phenomenal service, delicious bread, very hospitable server and delicious food. We had the lasagna plate and the chicken Marsala plate which were both quite delicious. I asked for a wine to pair with the chicken and got a great recommendation from the server. Topped it off with the pistachio ricotta cake that was great as well. Will definitely be back. Musician came in close to the end of our meal but great add on to the mood.

Tarantella on 4th is located on retro row snuggled in the middle of the block. Don't walk to fast because you might miss it, like I did. When I walked back I don't know how I missed it because there's a seating area in the street. When I walked in I saw a small area with tables and chairs. I walked to the bar area where someone was there to check me in, we were seated right away. Our table was out back where it is set up very cozy; one of the employees told us they have live music on certain nights so we planned to go back to enjoy it. When you sit down they offer you warm bread and grass fed butter. Our food was good, think it mostly would taste better the next day. I usually enjoy pasta much more on the second day as the flavors have set in. Parking is a challenge, as they do not have a parking lot; there's metered street parking but you may need to drive around to find an open spot. There's also a small paid parking lot on the corner.

Let me start by saying I'm Italian. I know good authentic Italian food... and this place is it! We happened to stumble across this on the RESY app. Parking on fourth street is an issue, yes! But don't let that stop you. It's totally worth checking this place out. I was impressed by the Parklet seating in addition to the inside front. We were walked to the back and seated in the outside garden area. Tables are on small rocks, plants are pretty to look at -- it was a delightful ambience. There was one waiter serving ALL the tables, and to my surprise, he did a great job with such attention to detail. Overall, he was a delightful, professional waiter. The additional servers were so efficient, polite and on top of their game. We started with the flat bread: Wonderful crust, incredible roasted garlic paste with a habanero cheese that was not overpowering. Such a nice balance of flavor. The two of us devoured it. Enjoyed my peach Prosecco which appeared to be a Prosecco with peach nectar, perhaps? Not sure exactly, but it was very refreshing and not too sweet. The cioppino was out of this world! It's so hard to find a good cioppino in Long Beach. It had so much depth of flavor with a little hint of spice and the seafood was fresh! My partner wiped his bowl clean. My dish was the parpadelle in a lobster sauce. The pasta tasted homemade, the bits of lobster (about 6oz) were carried throughout the dish where I experienced a wonderful creamy lobster flavor in every bite. I usually take home what I don't finish, but I couldn't stop eating it. Lastly, Chocolate Spumoni ice cream bomb is a must to try. Priced well at $10. Great quality in this dessert all around. The Parmesan cheese wheel dish looked incredible as it was prepared table side next to us. That's going to be my go to when I return. This restaurant is a treasure for Italian food in Long Beach.

Ok gang, I get it - - this is supposed to be a nice Italian spot. But the portions? Shockingly small. And the single complimentary bread basket didn't make a dent. SMALLEST RAVIOLI PORTION EVER ($28.50) $28 for nine small raviolis. Yes, nine. We ordered from the special menu--about a 6/10 on flavor, 2/10 on portion size. DECENT LASAGNA ($25) Really tasty and hearty, but still small for the price. 8/10 flavor, 7/10 portion. SIDE OF 2 MEATBALLS ($5) Pretty solid overall. 8/10 flavor, 7/10 portion. TOTAL BILL BREAKDOWN After tip, we paid $75 for a 3"x3" lasagna, 9 raviolis, 2 meatballs, and 6 small pieces of bread. Almost a week's worth of groceries. FINAL THOUGHT Only worth it if you sit on the back patio and enjoy the live music. Eating inside without any ambiance makes the prices feel insanely high for what you get. SERVICE Friendly, fast, and genuinely good - - only kudos in this section!

We visited Tarantella on 4th on a Saturday evening, and fair warning--parking was rough. All the paid spots were taken, and we ended up parking about three blocks away. I called ahead to let them know we'd be about 10 minutes late. I was told they hold reservations for up to 15 minutes, so I figured we were fine. Unfortunately, when we arrived, our table had already been given away, and we had to wait another 10 minutes or so. That said, once we got past the initial hiccup, things really turned around. The small waiting area had a cozy charm, and walking into the outdoor back patio--with a live saxophonist playing--felt genuinely magical. The food absolutely delivered. The spaghetti carbonara was spot on, and the lasagna was just as impressive. We finished with tiramisu and cannoli, and honestly, it felt like we were transported back to Italy. Despite the rocky start, the ambiance and food made it a memorable experience.

This is a very cozy and intimate spot for dinner or a date. The interior is alright, but it's the backyard patio that steals the spotlight. They have quite a cute setup back there with string lights, plants, and live music nightly. While the live music was just 1 guy playing the saxophone, it was still a vibe. The food was pretty good and tasted very authentic. We ordered 3 dishes: fried risotto, lobster pasta, and the sirloin steak. The fried risotto did not taste very risotto-y, but was delicious nonetheless. The lobster pasta was also pretty savory, but I feel like the pasta quality itself could have been better. The sirloin steak was an interesting dish, steak itself was decent. The veggies that came on the side was quite refreshing with the slight tartness. The complementary bread that came in the beginning was also amazingly soft and fluffy. With some warm butter it was exquisite. Service was also pretty quick and welcoming. I would come back to try the other dishes if I were in the area.

We booked this place on resy to utilize my amex credit. In the front it looks just like any other small italian resturant but the real charm is in the back. They even had a live performer playing the saxophone with cute decorations. I got the sirloin steak, fried risotto and lobster pasta. I think the fried risotto was definitely worth it and the pasta actually had a good amount of lobster chunks. The steak was very interesting with the sauce they used. However I think the sirloin cut or they might have slightly over cooked it. The meat was slightly rough but that's alright everything else made up for it. The service was very quick and food came out in under 15-20mins. Great vibes for dates or double dates but the rocks that they use is slightly annoying since the chairs and tables sometimes are uneven. I kicked more rocks underneath to make it a smooth surface so the table was stabilized. Parking is also limited to mainly street where you have to pay. I'd check it out!

The food was delicious, got the lobster pasta ( Pappardelle all' Aragosta ), Papa Tony, and chicken parm ( Pollo alla Parmigiana ). They seated us right away even with no reservation on a Friday at 7pm. We sat in the covered back patio which was a lovely atmosphere with a live sax player. They gave us complimentary bread and butter right away and served us quickly throughout the nice. I would definitely recommend this place.

    Martin Q.

Truly everything here was so tasty. The outside patio is so cute but the reason it got four stars is the fly issue outside. Even thought they try to give you small motor fans, we were always fighting off the flies. The bread at first is so soft and toasted. With butter it makes the best appetizer. I tried the moscato de azi and omg it was the best tasting moscato I had in a while. If you're looking for something that basically tastes like great juice get the whole bottle. I got the entree with lobster in it and it was really good. I like things a bit salted so if I had a sprinkle more it would be divine. It was very flavorful and not too tomatoey, the flavors balanced well. One more critique is that I usually see larger servings at most Italian places in comparison to what were served, especially at the price point. But without that truly I would still come back and keep trying the rest of the menu, I would just recommend placing a reservation inside if you don't want to deal with the flies. Service was fine. Since it was small they seemed busy, but we got served when we could, it just take a while to get your entire to you, which was worth the wait in terms of taste.

As soon as I stepped in this seemingly regular Italian spot, I realized it was anything but. The pasta and bruschetta is absolutely amazing, like they delivered it from Italy themselves. The service was outstanding, the owner gave us a glass of wine to try, and I even received an incorrect meal once that was comped and they allowed me to take it AND gave me my ordered meal! Sitting outside with live music is a great experience. Definitely recommend for a date night.

Love 4th street and tried a lot on the street, Tarantella was one I had not so I made a resy and tried it for the first time fresh bread was served first with some butter and a couple drinks pretty good beer and wine selection. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and the specials they offered and explained them very well. We sat in the lil patio area which is neat lil pebble rock floor with tables and chairs and makes it feel more personable. Food was good I tried the Ragu and the chicken lemon dish with capers. I will be back to try some other dishes on the menu

There was also a corner that hosted a live band. When we arrived, no one was playing yet. The crowd seemed to be more of the younger hipster vibe. A completely different crowd from the LA scenes. Getting a drink wasn't that bad even though it was busy. I happened to get lucky when someone moved from the bar stool for me to approach. And let me tell you, that everything was so good. The Smoked & Glazed Pork Chop came with a whole show, where staff would bring out the dish in a smoke-infused glass dome and open the dome when presented on the table so we can smell and see all the smoke. Not only was it beautiful to look at, but it tasted just as beautifully. Seriously some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. And the food is phenomenal. Amazing food and even better people. Huge shoutout to Chris and the entire team!
