One aspect of this place I have not discussed in previous reviews is how great it is for groups or the family. I've mentioned the value one gets in every order. Quality, more than ample portion for the money, literally great. But I bring a group of 5 adults every (or many) Saturdays - all big eaters. It's become "our thing." 2 large pizzas for the table and a salad to start defeats us almost every time. As always, amazing service. Great food. Happy it's part of our weekend. read more

Dominic's & Vinnie's bakes an ok pie. The sausage is very peppery, so this pizza is packing heat. The sauce is nice, and the crust is the best part, just the right amount of salt, and there's a fair amount of cheese, but I prefer a lot more. Overall, the pizza is a soild 3 out of 5 stars on the Yelp scale. To reiterate, the pizza could use more cheese and a bit less pepper. That's a review. read more

We have ordered here for years, and very much like the pizza - it's not the top New Haven pizza but it's very solid. The problem is the ordering system is awful, and after this third time in the last 6 months where they "didn't write down the online order" so the pizzas weren't started when we arrived, we won't be coming back. I've been a long time Domenic & Vinnie's Pizza fan. This has been my go to Pizza place, but lately the disappointments have been growing. We ordered two large to go last night and when we opened them up at home, they looked different than the usual. The first thing we noticed were they were really light on the toppings, we had an all sausage pizza and there were quite a few pieces with no sausage on them. The other issues were that the pizza was under cooked and was sort of chewy dough. We had to put the oven on and bake the pizza for 10 minutes at 425 to finish it. The final issue was there really was no taste! I am not sure what has been going on lately, but things have been changing and not for the better. Lately each time we eat in or take out we have noticed things have been different, just not the amazing pizza it used to be. It may be time to find a new local pizza place. read more

Usually the best pizza around but lately they've been off. Last Friday for example, the dough was super thin and flat, now I love thin crust but this was different, the crust was not how I'm used to from them. Maybe they were having a bad day. I will keep going back but if this happens again I'll have to ask them if they changed their recipe( I'm pretty sure that's not the issue because it's been the same for decades) or technique because the way they made it last Friday was average at best in my humble opinion. We personally love any Domenic's and Vinnie's places. This time we were at the branch in Middlebury getting some pizza for our mother's birthday. This location is tinier and if you are expecting a group I'd suggest calling ahead for a spot to sit but luckily we had good timing and it was empty. Our girl and service in general was also nice (considering she had to deal with us and little ones haha) but overall the pizza is cheesy enough, flavorful, thin, cooked just right. I love the way they cut it so you can get a nice all center piece too. For some who don't know they don't do many other things! It is usually just pizza there. But we enjoy. read more

So.... We wanted to try a different pizza shop in Waterbury that came super highly recommended (Domenick & PIA). When we got there on 4/30 a sign on the door said "Closed for Spring Break 4/25 - 4/30". Just our luck as we drove 45 minutes. So we looked for another local pizza shop and this was only 5 minutes away with decent reviews. We were seated and ordered a plain cheese pizza to share. There was just one other couple eating. Our server was friendly and efficient but things went down hill quickly when they brought out our pizza! We are from NY and NJ and like NY style Italian pizza. Our pizza here was cut in squares (yikes!!) so middle pieces have no crust. Unheard of where we grew up. The pizza itself appeared to be Greek style cooked in a pan. Reminded us of frozen Elio's or something. Complete miss for what we were looking for and was a huge disappointment. read more

Was driving looking for a new place to eat stopped and tried this place. They ONLY have pizza. We just got lucky and they had sale tonight. We got a small cheese and mushroom pizza and the salad. I've been coming here for my entire life, since it was just Vinnie's! There's a reason for it, by far the best pizza I've ever had. One of those places you don't want other people to know about, but feels wrong not to share if you know what I mean! I've since moved out of CT but we get pizza here multiple times every time we visit. I've tried veggie pizzas, meats, specialty (the buffalo chicken is so good!) and always love it. Great rustic pizza! Crispy bottom, chewy top and crust! We popped in to the Middlebury location this afternoon and it was really good. It was my first time eating here and I was not disappointed. We got the large veggie pizza. The veggies were cooked perfectly, the cheese delicious and the pizza was hot and tasty! It also arrived at the table very quickly in my opinion. Wow....it sucked! Not sure has happened but this was not the same. Sauce was not good. One pie the crust was under cooked and super thin, the other pie the crust was way to think and the 3rd was normal. Sauce was not the same at all. A group of us who no longer live in the area made this our gathering spot last night having enjoyed Vinny's pizza years ago. Some of the Yelp reviews concerned me. However I am prompted to write this because of those reviews. The pizza is as good as ever. I live in eastern CT and have to travel 45 minutes to get good pizza (Frank Pepe). My friends live in SC and sorely miss Waterbury pizza. The service was outstanding, the four varieties of pizza were all excellent, and contrary to prior info posted here, credit cards are accepted. I haven't been here in years and stopped by a couple months back. I was excited when I saw how many ovens they have to make the pizza. About a dozen doors or more but I ended up being let down. Tried a sausage and pepperoni but it was lacking flavor. It wasn't bad. Just run of the mill pizza. Many others instead. Sorry to say. It did have a nice crisp though. We have been eating Vinny's Pizza for 30+ years, what happened to the sauce?? For two straight weeks we have gotten terrible pies. The crust is not crispy, the sauce has no flavor, and there is way too much cheese on these pies. The toppings are sparse. I sincerely hope they revert back to their original recipe. Sadly- this spot will not be in the rotation. Trying to pass off smaller pizzas in larger boxes is NOT a good business practice. These are difficult times- raise your prices and be forthright- but do NOT try to hoodwink customers- it is just not good business. And customers are taking notice. Decent cheese pizza, but I really love their mashed potato pizza. Was a little disappointed when I ordered 4 pizzas to go and received them in brown paper bags instead of boxes, making it impossible to stack and difficult to bring home. The grease also came through and didn't retain the heat well. I prefer eating there to getting take out. read more

By far my favorite pizza in the area. I have been coming here my entire life. Most Saturdays we come here and get a bacon pepperoni pizza.

Great pizza. It is my favorite. Can't say enough about it. So it pains me to say for the last year or so their consistency has been off a little. The sauce is different sometimes. This is not the best pizza in the Waterbury area as some seem to say! I just had a Margherita pizza which cost $18.75 and it was dry and the crust is hard not crunchy. I was brought up on DiPrimio's, Bacco's and homemade. I know my standards are high but spending a $20 bill for Domenic & Vinnie's is a waste of my money and taste buds. Also, spent some time in Northern Italy and the crust there is delicious. The crust I just ate was dismal. Dominick & Pia have the best pizza in Waterbury. Cash or personal checks only. Pizza, only. So, given that, what's it like? Friggin' good, that's what. The crust is crispy, an absolute, and the cuts they make are kinda kid-friendly in that you won't get eight triangles (or arcs) but rectangles/ squares and more slices. It doesn't really matter, you go to work on the pizza regardless. The sauce was impressively tangy. The cheese was good but didn't stand out per se; having said that the plain cheese pie was good, the pepperoni was decent, the meatball nondescript. The hot peppers and sausage was very good, however, and the fennel aroma was just there. Limited beer selection but not overpriced: Sam Adams Seasonal by the pint is available and recommended. Standard soda, water, a one-pager wine list if you are so inclined. In conclusion, a real nice find tucked in a strip mall. Definitely worth a visit, after a trip to the ATM. --# read more

I love Domenic's and Vinnie's, been eating their pizza since it was served out of a garage door on Wolcott St. However... In this day and age to not accept credit and debit cards is really dubious. I don't know what they are up to here, but I suspect that there is some sort of fee-avoidance scheme that (I guess) takes precedence over their customer service. I was told that if all I had to pay with was an ATM card then I could go to the nearest ATM. The ATM is right in the plaza, but the fee is $3, and my bank charges me $2.95. So, let's say they get to avoid paying taxes or fees (hypothetically) on all that cash that they are raking in, and my pizza gets an un-hypothetical $6 surcharge. I know what you are saying, they have signs all over the restaurant warning that they don't take "cards", but at that point I am already there to pick up my pie. If they had told me the payment policy when I ordered the pizza I could have 1.) stopped at my bank to pick up $$$ (no fees for me) or B.) told them to suck it. Anyways, I guess I am going to find a competitor who takes cards until these guys realize that 97% of something is more than 100% of nothing. By the way, the pizza is 5-stars. It is easily the most delicious pizza I have ever eaten. read more

The thing that really annoys me about this place is that they serve the take out pizzas in brown paper bags. Are you f'ing kidding me?!
