Burnt crust, underside was also charred in multiple areas... if this wasn't burnt I think it would be very good.
    Vincent H.

So much promise, hopefully I just had a bad visit. My wife liked the gluten free pizza a lot, said it was top 10 places for gluten free "it's the worst of the best" BUT rhe pizza my daughter and I shared was burnt to the point of half if it just tasting like char unfortunately. Typically my daughter will eat 2-3 slices but she only had half of one and asked if it was ok to not finish. Staff was friendly and a bit scattered since it was so busy but I found this to add a charming flare to the location. I think we'll give this location another try before writing it off.

2.26.24 Why are you charged a service fee for pick up?

3.29.24 I've been here a bunch of times while in the area. The food is decent. The service is also good most of the time. This is when you get the older woman when the service is good. When you get one of the younger kids well, you know the sub par service they give. So obviously it's always better when you're dealing with the woman. They do sell slices and they're ginormous. So huge. I used to try their boneless wings which were good but lately they're always overcooked, well done, over crispy and hard. The parking lot situation is almost non existent. There's a tiny lot on the side of the building that fits a few cars. Most of the time you have to park along the road which works for a quick pick up for your food. There's no dining in. It's strictly take out and they also have delivery. But Lately they started charging a "SERVICE FEE" for pick up, to go, take out orders. I really don't know what this charge is for when you pick up your own orders and don't utilize their delivery. I was there a month ago most recent. Attached is my receipt. I called after I left within 15 minutes of driving away when I noticed this "SERVICE FEE" charge on my receipt. The woman answered and I asked what this charge was for. There was dead silence for a few seconds and I thought she hung up which she didn't. She responded saying they're in the middle of lunch and it's very busy, can she call me back and she'll explain it to me. I said of course. SHE NEVER CALLED ME BACK. At all. It's one month after this occurred and I've finally decided to post this review about my experience which has put a damper on my view of this business.

The staff is always super friendly, the vibes are cozy and local, and it truly feels like one of those family-owned neighborhood gems (I'll confirm next time). The pizza? Consistently great. I love the perfect char they get, flavorful without ever being burnt. I usually order the Buffalo Bentley with a blue cheese drizzle, which is a solid 7.9/10 for me. But honestly, the Blazin' Hot Pepper slightly edges it out. It is on the spicier side (beware), but wow--it's so good. I never thought I'd be into long hots, but consider me converted. Easy 8/10. I've never had a bad experience here, so these are genuinely honest thoughts. They have a solid variety of pies to choose from, and if you're in the area, it's definitely worth checking out.

One must sample the local pizza while in town. I think it's an unwritten traveler's rule in some Connecticut guidebook. Dimitri's popped up in the number one local spot according to Yelp. Drove over and walked through the take-out door. Saw a pizza get pulled out of the oven and set on the counter. Cheese was bubbling and the smell confirmed I was in the right space. Placed my order for a mixed topping pizza and an eggplant parm grinder. chatted with the folks behind the counter while I waited. Nice people. Pizza got taken back to my temporary home and it was everything I expected and more. Saved my eggplant parm grinder for lunch on Sunday. Restaurant eggplant usually disappoints but this was actually some of the best I've ever had and I've had lots. It's one of my absolute favorite dishes and I make it at least every other week. There are a lot of pizza spots dotting the landscape. This is one dot on the map that I would revisit. Sadly, I'm back home in California where we have nothing that even comes close to Dimitri's. Enjoy! I sure as heck did.

The atmosphere is from my childhood. Welcoming wood paneling, unapologetically antiquated glassware - the small bar where the bartender definitely knew every customer and instantly identified me as new. If you closed your eyes you could smell the smell of historical cigarettes and Chianti (this is a good thing). For the above they receive their only stars. The food was hugely disappointing. Chicken wings were clearly frozen Pierce Wing Dings - salty, bland, thrown on a plate with a plastic cup of bottled blue cheese and carrots from the Reagan administration. But the pizza - CLEARLY - not the "Apizza" as noted on their charmingly old sign - was a cross between frozen airport pizza - and sauceless/tasteless, too thick to be thin crust and too thin to be Greek style - hot bread with greasy cheese. I appreciated the photos of the original owner over the bar. I suspect this was actually a really great place in the 60's, 70's, and 80's under his regime. If in the area, there are 3 other better options with a 5 min drive in any direction.

We got a large half bacon & half pepperoni, as well as some garlic knots. The garlic knots were pretty decent, some crispier than others but that was fine, & brought a side of marinara. In my opinion some real garlic could ve gone a long way into making them more than decent, as the dough itself was good. The pie itself half some flop to it but not to the point where everything fell apart. I personally liked the flavor of the sauce but felt the cheese could've been a bit cheesier & the pizza dough was good. Again, these are my personal opinions, everyone has their own. There's not much parking available at all, I parked on the side of the street; just for reference. The total price was also pretty decent for both items. The ambiance was pretty good & the timing they stated for pick-up was accurate. The service was also nice.

They're a couple of great guys with tremendous hospitality among them but I personally don't care for their food. Pizza was underwhelming and the meatball parm was bland and fell flat. Tiny place with very limited parking along the street. They do a ton of deliveries within this area. The first time I was there they forgot the pepperoni on my pizza. I brought it back for a refund. They immediately said without skipping a beat that they'll remake it for me. I didn't have time on my side that day. They them said that they'd deliver it to me but I wasn't going to be close by and was leaving town. They even mentioned to do some pepperoni and put it in top. I refused that one and said that's jimmy rigging it which is a no no in my book. They ended up refunding me then to remedy this situation. I was happy with that to end up giving them another try at a later time. In not saying the food is bad. I'm only saying that it's not likeable in my opinion. Their service was pretty quick to have the pizza made. No lengthy wait. The decor inside is plain. They were in the middle of a remodel when i was there. They recently took the place over from the original owners who were there for umpteen amounts of years before this. I wish them the best of luck in their future success with this place.

Friendly, attentive, genuinely welcoming staff. The atmosphere was great too. Casual neighborhood pizza spot vibes done right, and bonus points for a private parking lot in Watertown, which is apparently rarer than a perfectly cooked New Haven-style pie north of Route 84. Now, let's discuss the family salad. Fantastic. Fresh, generous, great dressing options, and honestly one of the better salads I've had from a local pizza place in a long time. I would absolutely come back just for that. Unfortunately, the star of the show, the pizza, kind of collapsed under pressure. Literally. We ordered a medium cheese and a medium sausage, both "thin and crispy." What arrived was more "soft and floppy." The sausage itself was excellent. Clearly high quality, nicely seasoned, and probably the best part of the pizza. But the sauce just didn't bring much to the table. Very little flavor, too much cheese, and the whole pie felt heavy instead of balanced. That said, this was one visit, and I'm willing to give any local spot another shot. Next round, I'll order it well done and see if that changes the equation. I really wanted to love it because the people were great and locally owned places deserve support. But on this first visit, in an area absolutely loaded with excellent pizza options, Anthony's doesn't crack my personal top 15. Yet. I'm rooting for the comeback story.

I have done pick up and eaten in and the service is always pleasant and upbeat. They're always nice and it has never seemed like an inconvenience like other places i frequent. They are kind and happy to take care of you. Always accommodating. The decor inside is a little dated but with an old school vibe and nice ambiance nonetheless. They do have something different with their pizzas that i haven't seen at any other place. Their pizzas come with the option of thin, medium or thick and golden, crispy or well done. It is kind of cool. It sets them apart from the dozens of other pizza places around. It depends on the mood you're in for what you decide to pick for your pizza dough option. Again, cool imo. One of my favorites is their sausage and cheese pizza. The quality of their ingredients are spot on too. Some of the pizza places i order a sausage pizza from use lower quality sausage. Their sausage and their mozzarella cheese are spot on. Delicious and returning visits are in the works. There is street parking and a small lot on the side of their building. Either way there's no charge.
