I haven't had Pizza House in over 5 years and it still never disappoints. A friend mentioned they had it recently and I was wow I totally forgot about this place. Stopped one evening ordered a small pepperoni to go. Order was ready about 20 mins later. I picked it up and drove home. I think I drove faster going home because my pizza smelt so good. The pizza was FANTASTIC!!! I know most peeps would prefer to go down to Wooster st and get that type of pizza but do yourself the favor and stop in at Pizza House and get their pizza instead. My daughter had a track competition in New Haven and since I was in New Haven, why not get a pizza!!! I didn't want to go to none of the well known pizza places like Sally's or Modern, so I researched pizza places in New Haven on Yelp. There are a ton of pizza places in New Haven that are just as good as the ones on Wooster Street but not recognized. I found Pizza House and decided to go here. The restaurant is small and you can tell that they have a regular customer base that comes in. I ordered a small pizza which was nine dollars and fifty cents which was a great price. I waited about twenty five minutes and I think they forgot about my order as it was busy. I went to counter to ask if my pizza was ready and he said another ten minutes, but it came out within a few minutes. I noticed the way the pizza was prepared and it wasn't the traditional way of making pizza. The dough was already prepared in a pan with the sauce on top. I noticed it was Greek style pizza!!! I've never had Greek pizza before!! At least that I know of. I read the Yelp reviews and customers stated that it was Greek style pizza. The pizza was very delicious. The sauce was very flavorful and the crust was the best part!! That's my favorite part of the pizza. It wasn't the traditional style pizza crust but rather a thicker crust. The customer service was okay as I didn't see any staff come to anyone's table, or come to my table. It seemed to be a self service restaurant and you clean off your own table off. The customer service didn't bother me as I was in my glory eating pizza. read more

Personally, I'm not a big fan of charred crust, so this was perfect. I'm from NYC so I was prepared for a pizza throw-down as I know Connecticutters (?) cuttians (?) think they have some great pizza. Well you know what; they really do. This pizza place is not even in the top three or of the "apizza" style but they serve a mean pie. I ordered what was equivalent to a supreme. It was loaded with delicious, well seasoned toppings (bc not everyone thinks to season the vegetables), the proportions were great (veg to meat to cheese to sauce ratio), and the crust was sturdy enough to hold all said toppings while remaining thin and crispy. Now, it's no 99 cent pizza like we got in NYC (bc I gotta be loyal) but it is really one of the better pizzas I've had in a long while. read more

Pizza House has been around forever and serves good old school Greek style Pizza. I love it for the nostalgia factor alone, but it's also a nice change up from the Italian/Neopolitan/New Haven style Pizzas that are prevalent throughout CT. In terms of taste and quality, its really good but it won't blow you away. And like many of Greek places from back in the day, the interior hasn't been updated so don't come here expected a comfortable dining room. Definitely check it out! read more

What is happening to the PIZZA in New Haven? This place has gone downhill since the absence of Gus. I ordered a bacon sausage pizza and it is overcooked, it's dry. I also ordered wings, which they appear to still be moving. I called PIZZA HOUSE directly to inform them of the quality of their food. The person who answered speaks very little to no English. When I asked to speak to someone as we have a language barrier, he declined. I told him I was going to write a review it's not gonna be good and to check with his cooks before sending food out as moving forward it should be better quality. I contacted Uber eats. If you are following my reviews, and you know that I stop by places and check them out. I have had an opportunity to go by Pizza House to sample their work. Once you make the call, they'll give you her number so you can easily identify your order when arriving. When you get there, you can see they have pans of pizza dough are we prepped and a person steady preparing more life pizza dough to keep up with production. What I liked about this pizza it was covered completely with meat and mushrooms, which I ordered. It was chewy, it had a little flavor, and it was very enjoyable. I did the try it again tomorrow test to see if it will be even better. It stood the test of time! I'm happy to hear it because it was very tasty. Although I'd like it a little bit more seasoned, it was good enough for the average person to sit and enjoy every drop. It was one of those pizzas that you just couldn't put down because it was like a Lays potato chips, you can't eat just one! I highly recommend the this establishment. The people at the counter were friendly and ready to work. You could tell they were prepping for a very busy day. My boyfriend has eaten here several times and always raved about it so he took me for my first time several months ago; then we went again tonight. I don't know why we don't eat here every single night. My bf had the eggplant parmigiana grinder and loved it- yet again! He basically says he feels guilty as he is not worthy to eat something that is so delicious. He loves that it actually tastes like eggplant and claims it's his favorite eggplant parm of all time. My meatball grinder last time was delicious (although I can't remember the specifics.) This time I ordered the ham and salami grinder. It was amazing! I have visited this place many times throughout the years. The pizza has gone downhill considerably. The new sauce that is used is terrible and the scarcity of cheese used is noticeable.
