Always a great selection of craft beer here
    Tom C.

If you're anywhere near Covina and craving barbecue that doesn't require you to balance a tray on a splintery picnic table, Domestic is your move. This isn't a roll of paper towels and a squeeze bottle of sauce on the table kind of BBQ joint. It's a real deal restaurant experience-- casual and fun, but polished enough to feel like an actual night out. They've absolutely earned their reputation as one of the best spots in the area, and the consistency alone deserves a slow clap. the barbecue and sandwiches are always on point, but what I really appreciate is the little creative flexes on the menu like brisket flautas and deviled eggs. There's enough great appetizers to make you consider building a whole meal out of them. Or you can get a ribeye steak. The bar is no afterthought either. The craft beer selection is top tier, and they've got a full bar with genuinely good mixed drinks -- call your shot or pick from their specials. There's a solid patio out front if you want to soak in Old Town Covina, or you can stay inside and enjoy the AC like a civilized person. Service is consistently on point, and I truly can't remember leaving disappointed. It's reliable, it's tasty, and it's the kind of place you confidently drop in the group chat without fear of being blamed later.

Fantastic BBQ and bar! If you are into baseball and smoked meat dishes, this is the place to get it. I was immediately greeted and instructed to self-seat. There's high and low tables, inside and outdoor seating. Service was fantastic end to end. I tried the combo for $27, which comes with 2 meats and one side - I got the brisket, tri tip, and bacon mac and cheese. The combo comes with bread, pickles, bbq sauce, and consume. It's shareable with maybe two people max and was delicious. I also got the half chicken for $12, which was also a 10 out of 10 in presentation and flavor. They have a wide selection of drinks, including beers from local brewery brands. Overall, I'd 100% come back the next time I want BBQ.

This review is really for the drinks only. Came here on a Friday around 2:30 pm for a quick lunch and the restaurant was pretty empty. We sat in their patio since they welcomed dogs as we had our little pup with us. Server kindly gave her a bowl of water, which is always appreciated. We ordered the 2 meat combo with bacon mac & cheese - which came with pickled veggies and a brioche roll - as well as brisket fries. Not sure if they were having an off day, but overall, food was a 2.3/5. Everything was pretty cold and dry, nothing really stood out. The fries were really mid, seemed like frozen fries and chopped up meat pieces... they even forgot our brioche roll. However, the drinks really made it for us! $13 for an old fashion and margarita with forteleza?! and I believe $11 or $13 shots??? You really cannot beat that. Also, our server was great -- he checked up on us a lot.

Domestic (Covina) offers charming, bright service & a comfortable, sleek atmosphere. I ordered the Surf N Turf ($32). It's salad, fries, shrimp scampi, and a USDA prime hand cut steak. Although they overcooked the steak, I still had a pleasant experience. (Quick Note: A 3% Service Charge is automatically added to the bill as "Kitchen Gratuity." Guests can have this charge removed by informing staff.) I arrived at Domestic (Covina) on Sunday (around 11:45AM). There's limited street parking, but Downtown Covina has plentiful public parking at walking distance. I was immediately sat down. There's no wait. Staff (receipt said Juan) is very professional, courteous, and hardworking. Juan commonly used phrases like "Thank you, sir." Juan quickly fetched clean water, and Juan regularly shared a bright smile. Juan regularly checked in on me. When Juan discovered the cook overcooked the steak, Juan quickly offered an "I'm sorry." As mentioned, I ordered the Surf N Turf ($32). The food was served in courses. The Salad w/ Caesar Dressing arrived at four minutes and 30 seconds. The Crispy Fries with ketchup arrived at 13 minutes and 10 seconds. And the USDA prime hand cut steak and shrimp scampi arrived in 19 minutes and 28 seconds. It's a good pace. I enjoyed the salad. It's a surprisingly messy salad since the small plate was overflowing with fresh leafy greens. I had selected Caesar salad dressing, and I like how it complimented the salad's sprinkled cheese. Then, its thick croutons tasted fresh with a slight, welcomed crispness. The fries were also pleasant. It's a mountain of fries! They were thin & crisp. Dipping these golden, dry sticks into the ketchup added a much needed wetness. When the main entree arrived, I felt stuffed. The main dish came with eight tiny shrimp, but they were well-buttered and plump. The steak was also well-seasoned. Unfortunately, as mentioned, although I ordered the "medium rare," this steak came "medium well-done" and very chewy. It had unpleasant, rubbery bites. It was somewhat disappointing how the meat at Domestic (Covina) was the worst part of the meal. Concerning ambiance, Domestic (Covina) is gorgeous, clean, and very comfortable. This is an ideal location to take a date or family gathering. There's many tables inside and outside. Also, the many flat screen TVs (i.e. six inside & two outside) make it ideal for watching sports. I also appreciated the energetic, upbeat music in the background. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at Domestic (Covina). Although its steak was somewhat unpleasant and poorly prepared, I truly enjoyed every other aspect of this establishment. I left full. 4.5 out of 5

My wife and I came in to dine at Domestic on a Friday night. Domestic is still of my favorite BBQ spots to eat at. The moment you walk in you are greeted and seated very quickly. The staff here has always been kind and welcoming each visit. The service is top notch and they treat you like family. The menu items options are abundant and there's plenty to choose from wherever you are sharing or getting you own plates. This recent visit we shared the 2 meat + 1 side combo which is $27. We also ordered the brisket flautas and the crispy brussels. The meats we choose were the 2 ribs and and brisket with the bacon mac and cheese. The flautas are A MUST in our book. It's crispiness and the tenderness of the brisket is a solid combination. The brussels sprouts were tremendous as well. We never ordered it before but we will from now on. The flavor on them was heavenly. Overall, Domestic is one of best BBQ spots here in the SGV and they continue to prove to us why they are. Thanks, Domestic!

Needed a fix for our BBQ craving and this place definitely delivered. We were impressed with both the food and the service. The $10 kids value meal with two ribs and mac and cheese was an absolute hit with both kids -- great value and surprisingly generous portions. Looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes!

Stopped in for lunch and tried the Pastrami burger with a side of coleslaw. My order was take right away along with my beer choice, a cold ale. The burger was juicy with a pile of tasty pastrami and a crisp slice of pickle. The soft bun is encrusted with sesame seeds . Coleslaw is sweet and tart with a nice crunch. The side of house made BBQ sauce is Smokey and tart! Great art on the walls with country music playlist that day. Perfect lunch spot in Covina!

I came here on a whim alone on a Sunday afternoon after seeing the overall positive reviews on yelp. I was expecting good food and top notch service based on those reviews, but unfortunately I did not receive either. For service, I did have 2 servers in total. The first server was fairly attentive and was happy to give me some recommendations when I asked, but overall the service quality wasn't what I would describe as top notch. After getting my food, my server left for a lunch break and introduced me to a 2nd server who will be attending me on their behalf. For context, I was sitting in the outside patio area. The new server did check on me once, but for 20-25 minutes, the server did not come over to my table or any of the other customers. Once I saw him come outside, I had to call him over to get my check and a to-go box. I can forgive bad service if the food made up for it. I ordered the 2 meat combo and the brisket sammy. Altogether, I tried their pulled pork, brisket, St Louis ribs, coleslaw, and bacon Mac and cheese. The combo also came with a butter brioche roll and some pickles. BBQ Sauce, 1.5/5: It honestly tasted like something you could buy at a supermarket. The flavor had little smokiness or much nuance from spices. Best way to describe it is "spicy" ketchup. Coleslaw, 2.5/5: Tasted refreshing and better than fast food coleslaw (e.g. Raising Cane's) but otherwise nothing remarkable. Pickled veggies, 2/5: Forgettable. The pickled jalapenos had no heat. They had mild tang, which wasn't enough to balance the fatty meats. Bacon Mac n cheese, 2.25/5: The sauce was creamy but quickly tasted one note. Most likely the sauce only used cheddar. The noodles had good texture, and the sauce clinged to them well. There was so little bacon I almost forgot it was supposed to be included. If it was just regular Mac and cheese, I would give it a 2.5 or 3 out of 5. Buttered brioche roll, 0/5: Wasn't buttered at all. Dry. Tasted like something you would expect from a wholesale bakery. Brisket sandwich, 1/5: Like the roll, the brioche bun tasted was dry. No buttery rich taste from the bread. The brisket was covered in BBQ sauce, which I already described my disappointment with. The pickle and onions added texture, but their flavors were too mild to notice. There was a generous amount of meat, and some fell off while eating, but that also made eating messy. The meat itself was honestly bland. If there was any flavor, it was covered in the BBQ sauce. The texture and taste is comparable to brisket from a grocery store freezer aisle. This sandwich is effectively a grown up version of a McRib, and I don't mean that as a compliment. St. Louis ribs, 2.75/5: The best thing I had here at Domestic, which isn't saying much. It wasn't literally "fall off the bone," but the meat came off the bone fairly easily with my mouth. The ribs had flavor and were moderately savory and smokey. There were different textures thanks to the bark. There were, however, some unpleasant, overly salty bites, and the fatty portions were grease bombs. Pulled pork, 2/5: Greasy and came with BBQ sauce on top. The BBQ sauce did not do enough to balance the grease. The bites were inconsistent. Some were decently moist and savory while others were dry and bland. Proportion wise, the combo didn't feel like a lot of food. If it weren't for the flavor fatigue, despite the variety of options I had, I could've finished everything. To add insult to injury, when I did get my bill, I found they charged an "Optional Kitchen Gratuity." It was a small amount, and after I left the restaurant, I found out this gratuity is technically mentioned in the menu's fine print and could be asked to be removed. But I was not aware of the find print when I paid, and neither of my servers mentioned this gratuity fee earlier to me. As a result, I felt "tricked" into paying the fee. Shortly after I left, I felt my mood dropped and felt exhausted. I attributed this mood swing due to how greasy the pulled ribs were and the highly processed carbs. Tl;dr: This meal has convinced me to go vegetarian for the next few days.

Feels like a 3.5 but pretty solid nonetheless. In downtown Covina and really loved how convenient it was to find parking around and right in front. Always feels like a good combo when you have bbq and beers and sports. Between the two of us, we got the 2 meat 1 side combo and the sausage platter. It was just the right amount but we could've got a bit more. The brisket was solid and I would recommend that. The ribs were ok. Felt like it didn't actually have a lot of meat. The sausages were also ok and liked the snap of all of them but didn't feel too unique and the flavors didn't pack as much of a punch as I would've expected. We got the mac and cheese and it felt a bit one textured and could've been creamier but also decent. Service was very attentive and the servers came by often but what makes this place is the cool chill neighborhood vibe with the beers and sports. The food and the vibe make it a place for a great place to hang out and catch a game or chill with some buddies.

Obsessed with the barbecue here! I usually order the 2 meats + 1 side combo for $27 and get the ribs and brisket. Ribs are fall off the bone and the brisket just melts in your mouth! Every time I come here, I have to get one of the locally brewed beers on tap. I opted for El Segundo Brewing, the IPA was crisp and delicious! Paired perfectly with the barbecue. Be sure to ask your server for the spicy barbecue sauce if you enjoy a tangy twist. It's delicious! Service is prompt and incredibly friendly.

First time visit after reading recommendations. Sadly, my order didn't live up to the hype. Meat was dry and lukewarm. Tri tip didn't have much flavor without the accompanying jus Service was attentive but restaurant was surprisingly empty on a Saturday lunch period. There were only two other customers at one table in the entire restaurant. Maybe that should have been a sign of how the food might turn out? Went the following week to a frequently mentioned competitor not too far away. Moister, and more tender and flavorful meats at the other place

The meat is GOOD!! I came during lunch on a weekday and it was not busy. There were a lot of seats opened! Service was also good! The only thing is that the lighting can be harsh during lunch time when the sun is shining. The miso steak was absolutely delicious. The potatoes were crunchy which added a great texture. Ribs were tender and came with a side of bbq sauce. I personally like the miso steak more! Cornbread was decent (it was a good first try) and the cole slaw was just like any other cole slaw I've had at any other place.

If on a tight budget, the Good Company (Covina) is a prime location for casual drinking or hangout. It's food is not bad, but you can taste its affordability. I arrived on Saturday (around 5:40PM). Customers walk to the counter and order. Staff (Omar) is friendly and hardworking. He's seen constantly moving and interacting with guests. My orders arrived quickly. The Cheeseburger Bun was ready in 5 minutes and 36 seconds. The Matcha Berry Affogato arrived at my table in 9 minutes and 20 seconds. The food's presentation is memorable. The Cheeseburger Bun ($6) includes wagyu ground beef, melted American cheese, thinly sliced pickle, and fried thin onion slivers. Eating it with the white bun reminded me of sloppy joe in a soft taco. This very wet, mushy meal is cheesy and oily. Still, it's filling and cheesy with a very affordable price-point. The Matcha Berry Affogato ($6) is a scoop of ice cream swimming in a lake of liquid matcha. The flavors are decent but not memorable. The ice cream was chill and not overly sweet. Unfortunately, the liquid matcha arrived almost lukewarm. It would have been much more refreshing if the entire dish came cold. The presentation is eye-catching, but it lacked any real taste. Still, it's a very affordable experience. Concerning ambiance, The Good Company (Covina) performs extremely well. The location is very clean and comfortable with upbeat & fun music. There's also one flatscreen tv in the corner with closed captioning english subtitles. The location is well-ventilated, and the furniture all look very new and well-maintained. Even though the location is small, the colors and decor make it feel spacious and comfortable. Overall, The Good Company (Covina) is a good, budget hangout location. The food has an attractive appearance but its taste is unfortunately comparable to premium fast food. If heading there, bring good company and you'll definitely have a good time. 4 out of 5

Our waitress this morning--her name was "B"--was the sweetest. Super kind, always checking in on us and making sure we were good. If you're like me and super indecisive, I usually stalk the menu the night before. But this menu was HUGE--pages and pages. I flipped straight to the brunch section in the back (three full pages!) and landed on the Supreme Skillet: potatoes, over-easy eggs, bell peppers, ham, and sausage. It came with three tortillas of your choice--I picked corn. Taste-wise, it was good, but I wish there were bigger and more pieces of meat. Compared to other skillets I've had, this one was a little light on the protein. It was $17.99. I'd rate it a 6.5/10, but with the refried beans on the side, it bumped up to a 6.9/10. My bestie ordered the Combo Benedict with French toast sticks, and honestly...the French toast sticks were the star. Super crispy, fluffy inside, and perfect with syrup. We also got the mimosa flight--mango, strawberry, and peach. All were tasty, super cute, and very Instagram-worthy. I can totally see this place popping at night with music and drinks. That said, even in the morning with only one other couple next to us, the music was pretty loud--it was kinda hard to talk during our brunch, literally had to look at besties lips to know what she's saying. I can't even imagine nighttime volume, lol. Overall: Ambience: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Food: 3.5/5 Definitely a fun spot to try, especially if it's your first time! But def plenty better brunch food out there! Happy eats!

Great dive bar! Everyone is friendly. Bartenders are great. Engaging. Friendly. Happy you're there…read more Not like you're a bother. They have live entertainment on certain nights as well as karaoke. Pool table. Parking is a little difficult but as long as it's not really busy it's not bad. **** CASH ONLY **** so make sure you got bills on you. Drink prices are not any higher than anywhere else, cocktails may even be a little cheaper here, depending on what you order. It's conveniently located right on Grand Ave. I drove up & down Grand Ave for a long time never realizing this was a bar just because it kind of inconspicuous. It's in the middle of industrial buildings on one side & a liquor store & gas station on the other. I personally have never seen any kind of disrespect or "bad" behavior from customers. Everyone & everything is always just chill, having some adult beverages ( or not) , having conversations, socializing. I would suggest this to anyone looking for a nice little cozy place to hang out at.

The place is smallish, has one pool table, a couple TVs, but no draught beer, food, or Happy Hour. They do offer karaoke on Wednesdays and either Fridays or Sundays (can't recall) and the crowd was thrilled to be belting out their favorite tunes. Parking is available in front, in back, and on street. NOTE: They do allow smoking inside. There's a good selection of bottle beers, but nothing on tap. Of course, you can get shots and simple cocktails, but they didn't have the ingredients to make an Old Fashioned or Manhattan. Drink prices were very reasonable ($13 for a Malibu & Coke and a Mudslide). We asked about food and were told that on occasion one of the women working there will bring something in or fire up a grill, but it's not a regular thing. Overall, it's a fun neighborhood bar with friendly service, and an intimate place to gather, hang out, and meet/make new friends. We'll be back.
