So disappointed after a reading recent great review! The Roast Beef Panini was served lukewarm with congealed cheese and very dry, missing the horseradish cream (stated in the menu). When I requested the cream the waitress returned 10 minutes later to inform me they didn't have any, they were out. Seriously?! It was dry, concealed and inedible. I ordered the Seafood Penne Vodka, they apparently don't use Vodka or red pepper, neither could be tasted in the "Vodka" Sauce. I have been wanting to come to this place ever since I moved to Newton when my neighbor told me this is the spot to visit if you want dine in pizza. Finally paid a visit after some family members stayed over for the weekend. Stopped by around 2pm on Saturday. Once we entered we were greeted and seated promptly. The place had a lot of natural light and did not have music playing in the background. Started off with complimentary breadsticks (free), fried calamari ($13.95) and jalapeño poppers ($8.95) which were both solid. For our main we got the Dominick's special ($19.95) which is a supreme pie and was good and filling. We also got the margherita pizza pie ($17.95) which seemed like a regular pie sprinkled with shredded basil leaves, solid but def not the margherita pizza I was expecting (check out pic and determine for yourself). Went here for dinner. Service was fast. Our server Morgan was very friendly and personable. Ordered Drunken seafood in vodka sauce with penne . Also Drunken stuffed eggplant with vodka sauce. Enjoyed dinner w/2 other couples. This is a BYO w/an inviting dining room. Waitress promptly opened our wine & brought us waters & bread to start. Two couples ordered a large Caesar to share - it was very good although the croutons were extremely large so we just pushed them away. One person's eggplant rollatini was supposed to come with a starter salad but that never showed up. Two couples ordered pizza - Grandma's pie & Brooklyn. We liked the Brooklyn better due to it being more thin crust. Grandma's was very good but more "bready" for our liking. The eggplant rollatini came out which was excellent & waitress had thought the salad for that meal had come out so she brought it with the dinner; hence the 1 star off the review. One other person got a large house salad & liked it. All in all we really liked our meals & the price! Parking was OK; a little tight but we managed to find spots. Sunday night dinner at Dominick's what treat! Excellent staff, although they were very busy. Our party of three was seated in a reasonable amount of time. Food was great, we tried the chicken marsalla. Scallops and shrimp with spinach and a personal size pizza. Plenty left over for dinner tomorrow night. Also, plenty of off the street parking. My wife and I had our child's birthday party catered by Dominick's. Being that it was our first time hosting such a big event, we weren't quite sure how much food to order. Both Pete and Sal couldn't have been more helpful in guiding us on what to order and how much of each item would suffice a party of our size. They were super friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. This is our favorite place for authentic Italian cuisine. My boyfriend and I come here a few times a month, and always have excellent service and get treated like we're family. We love everything we have tried here. Of course, their pizza is amazing, but our other favorites include: baked ziti, chicken Parmesan, and make your own pasta dishes. I have created my own pasta dish that they always make just right: angel hair pasta with fresh diced tomatoes and a garlic/butter sauce. For dessert, I always get the limoncello flute (which is not on the menu--so you have to ask for it), which is nice and light. Also, Dominick's is a BYOB, so don't forget to bring your favorite bottle. Kudos to the amazing service from Meagan tonight, she was a rockstar and was there any time we needed anything. I ordered a turkey sandwich, mostly bread and lettuce, little turkey. NO french fries or something to go with it. My friend ordered a wrap served with some potatoes chips, which were awful. The waitress had an attitude like she didn't want to be there. Didn't give any alternatives for bread, something different then the roll, No thank you or smile. Just grabbed the menus and left. Good spot for consistently solid meals. The pizza / calzones / garlic knots are always great, and my family loves the penne arrabiata. Their sandwiches are good too, and I've really enjoyed the chipotle chicken one they have. They recently changed the type of Cesar dressing they use, and I will be honest that I'm a bit disappointed! My wife and I and my teenage daughter were promptly seated and quickly given drinks. Warm delicious tomato garlic bread was put on the table while we considered our options. I'd been out of state for 2 weeks and wanted some NJ Italian. Veal Saltimbocca for me, eggplant rollatini with penne vodka for the missus and a cheese pizza for the girl ( she's easy to please). Perfectly cooked spinach under tender veal with a perfectly tasty gravy. The spouse gave the thumbs up to eggplant and the girl rated her pizza 5/5. Total bill was very reasonable especially as the main dishes came with a salad. The Caesar dressing was top notch. My family and I go to Dominicks a dozen or more times a summer as we have a summer lake house in the area. We are from NYC and are pretty picky about pizza let alone Italian food. We really love the Dominicks. We haven't really explored the menu but the pizza is a GREAT rustic crust pizza with nicely seasoned sauce and the topping have always been very fresh. We have their heroes frequently - chicken, veal, meatball and eggplant - and have found them to be consistently be top quality with plenty of cheese and meat (or eggplant). Also their stromboli is to die for. We have had a couple of the pasta dishes and found them to be better than normal NY pizza place quality. In reference to other reviews - In all the times there we have never experience any issue with the staff or owner (Sal). Several years ago when we had just discovered them, we spent a half hour talking with the crew about the Newton area and all the changes and felt very comfortable there and we have become regulars. We have just been there twice in the last week during the Corona crisis and found them hard working, gracious and accommodating (even after having called back to change the order 15 minutes after we called it in). This is especially notable considering they are doing curbside pickup with a parking lot full of people who usually would be eating in the restaurant. All in all I highly recommend Dominicks to anyone looking for a ready comfort food meal. PS THERE CANNOLIS ARE EXCELLENT. Always fresh filled crispy cookie with rich filling. read more

Was charged for 3 gourmet slices (only one was gourmet), a water and an iced tea which I didn't even order. Owner seemed puzzled at his mistake when I brought back the receipt, but to make it easy I just grabbed an iced tea and said not to worry about the over-charge on the two plain slices. My family wanted to pre test their food ahead of a family gathering so we ordered a takeout of some items. Fried calamari was over battered and salty. Chicken tenders were OK, fries that came with them were soft and tasted like the oil used was also used for other items. Eggplant Rolentine was more like Eggplant Parm. Eggplant was overwhelmed by sauce and mozzarella, salty. Penne, garlic broccoli w/oil overcooked (it was takeout...) salty and small for $14.70. Chicken Piccata was terrible, the liquid was almost white from the amount of flour they used to thicken, chicken was overcooked and over salted. Broccoli Rabe.. How do you screw this up? Too salty to eat! My wife and I eat out a often. I like salt, a lot. Worst meal(s) that we've had out in years! Won't be using them for catering or anything else. read more

She was courteous,informed of the menu and accommodated every request by my hungry and somewhat picky group! Thank you for your patience on such a busy holiday prime-time night.
