I have been wanting to come to this place ever since I moved to Newton when my neighbor told me this is the spot to visit if you want dine in pizza. Finally paid a visit after some family members stayed over for the weekend. Stopped by around 2pm on Saturday. Once we entered we were greeted and seated promptly. The place had a lot of natural light and did not have music playing in the background. Started off with complimentary breadsticks (free), fried calamari ($13.95) and jalapeño poppers ($8.95) which were both solid. For our main we got the Dominick's special ($19.95) which is a supreme pie and was good and filling. We also got the margherita pizza pie ($17.95) which seemed like a regular pie sprinkled with shredded basil leaves, solid but def not the margherita pizza I was expecting (check out pic and determine for yourself). Overall it was a good experience. Solid food and reasonable pricing. * Parking lot on premise * Good service * Credit card fee: 3.25%

Went here for dinner. Service was fast. Our server Morgan was very friendly and personable. Ordered Drunken seafood in vodka sauce with penne . Also Drunken stuffed eggplant with vodka sauce. Portions are nice size and prices reasonable. Food was very good. Excellent service, prices and food. Will be back when in the area.

Enjoyed dinner w/2 other couples. This is a BYO w/an inviting dining room. Waitress promptly opened our wine & brought us waters & bread to start. Two couples ordered a large Caesar to share - it was very good although the croutons were extremely large so we just pushed them away. One person's eggplant rollatini was supposed to come with a starter salad but that never showed up. Two couples ordered pizza - Grandma's pie & Brooklyn. We liked the Brooklyn better due to it being more thin crust. Grandma's was very good but more "bready" for our liking. The eggplant rollatini came out which was excellent & waitress had thought the salad for that meal had come out so she brought it with the dinner; hence the 1 star off the review. One other person got a large house salad & liked it. All in all we really liked our meals & the price! Parking was OK; a little tight but we managed to find spots. Would go back again for sure!

Sunday night dinner at Dominick's what treat! Excellent staff, although they were very busy. Our party of three was seated in a reasonable amount of time. Food was great, we tried the chicken marsalla. Scallops and shrimp with spinach and a personal size pizza. Plenty left over for dinner tomorrow night. Also, plenty of off the street parking. Anxious to try other items on the menu, they also offer gluten free dishes.

My "create your own pasta dish"-- angel hair with freshly diced tomatoes, garlic and butter.

Right across the street from Thorlabs' world headquarters, occupying a space once held by the beloved Town and Country deli, Hugo DeLuca's has a built-in audience just south of Spring Street, close to the MVC. But service is so slow. They appear to pre-prepare almost no ingredients for the lunch rush, and on my most recent visit, the guy working the flattop blissfully ignored the two waiting orders in favor of chatting up his buddy. After all that wait, the food is just so basic. My grilled chicken wrap wasn't tightly packed, and had no greens or other textural contrast. My friend said the roasted veggie sandwich wasn't worth it, either. She spoke more favorably of the crispy eggplant sub on a different visit. Some locally owned places can be better than chain restaurants, but in my experience, this isn't one of them.

Cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful restaurant. This is the type of establishment that…read morereminds you of the good old days. The customer service is a time capsule of an era where a business strived to make your visit special and memorable with quality food and great service and not by some trend or gimmick. One thing that is not in the past is their skilled ability to provide a safe meal for those who are vegan, gluten free and or dairy free. I've never been to a restaurant that can turnout amazing authentic Italian food made with regular flour while also being able to provide a safe gluten free and or dairy free alternative of the same caliber. They have an efficient system that makes it clear there are people with dietary restrictions at the table and they take it very seriously. With all those great things to say, the food is what is worth writing home about. A gluten free chicken Parmesan that no one would ever guess was gf! A delicious gf df chocolate lava cake to end the meal was such a treat and was delicious. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable and attentive, they're a well oiled machine! And it was very nice for the grandson of the original founders to walk around and talk to us, not just a how is everything tonight kind of stop either, he really took the time to make pleasant conversation about the World Cup and ask how our son did at his soccer tournament. They have been around for 56 years and if our visit was anything to go off, they'll be around for another 100 years!

The way they show pictures of "today's specials" on an iPad type device is a nice touch. The meatball app had good flavor as well as the ricotta that came with it. The fiancé had the pear purse which is always a very good. Also the Eggplant Pisa salad that came with my lunch paring was very very good and I would eat it again!!! The bad. The meatball app, although tasty, was only two small meatballs (basically the size of a soup spoon!!) for 15 bucks. So I don't care for the cost compared to the value you get for it. Also I am a snob for chicken parm and this chicken was overcooked and dry. The bread crumbs were soggy and would have been forgiven if the chicken itself wasn't so overcooked and dry!!!! My over all is this. Been to mamas many times before this review and I think they are worth your time (even more so during dinner time!). They do more things right than they ever do it wrong. So I would still recommend going. I just wouldn't recommend it to the New Jersey Chicken parm Facebook page........
