I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before! I've been coming here every two weeks for the last year. I love it! I switched from my previous barbershop primarily because of the long wait times experienced there. I have never, EVER, had to wait more than 30 seconds here to get my haircut started. That doesn't mean the quality suffers. The barbers here all take their time to ensure you get a high quality cut. Neck shave and head/shoulder massage are included. All that for only $22! My 3 year old daughter received an absolutely TERRIBLE haircut here. I asked for 2 inches cut, and the barber cut off at least 4-5 inches. The back was significantly (I mean several inches) longer than the front when he was "done." When I pointed that out, his solution was to keep cutting the front shorter and shorter! I kept telling him to stop! Finally a woman came over and took the scissors away from him. The result is absolutely horrific and they still had the audacity to charge me full price for the experience! DO NOT bring kids here! We will never be back!! read more

I have been coming here for years and every time they do a great job. The price for a regular men's haircut is around $30. They give you a massage during your cut for free and give you a water bottle on the way out. The barbers are very nice and have always done a great haircut on me. They used to come close to an authentic Vietnamese experience... the staff were mostly female stylists who did a great job cutting your hair, followed by a relaxing head & shoulder massage. Despite the American prices (same service in Saigon costs maybe 100000 dong), they earned my trust. During my last few visits, however, they haven't let me choose a female stylist and instead keep giving me male barbers who are less skilled, and the massages have been awkward. I've given it 5 stars before, and I really like them. But prices have been hiked twice in the 14 months. What used to be $22 is now $30. What used to be $40 is now $55. I get it, inflation. But it was already expensive relative to others. A smiling face (which they always give) is only worth so much. I guess if I had a full head of hair it would be worth it. But I can be in and out of there 2 minutes. Maybe they need a bald guys price. I mean to charge me for 2 minutes what a woman with long hair would pay for an hour in there seems ridiculous (OK, I've never seen a woman get their hair cut there, but let's pretend a surfer dude). When I first visited Dominion Barbershop it was 2018 and I saw Jenny regularly but when the pandemic hit and she didn't return I started seeing Son and I still couldn't be happier. Son is not only a great barber but a nice guy who's become more of a friend. The entire shop is amazing and I have never felt more comfortable in a barbershop before. For context, I live less than a mile away from the Neighborhood Barbershop in Falls Church and have had several recommendations to go there but I've honestly never considered due to the service I've received from day one at Dominion so I drive to McLean instead. They take the time to get it right, not like some of the chains that's seem like they want to get you out as fast as possible. The most relaxing barber shop in McLean for a man! The mostly Vietnamese barbers are always very pleasant, kind, and welcoming. They use old school technique combined with spa-like enhancements. The haircut usually begins with clippers, a quick spray, and the clean-up, style and sculpt with scissors. Warm shaving cream is applied and the edges are trimmed neat and tidy with a straight razor. This is followed by a hot towel to the face followed by a magical massage for your scalp, neck, and shoulders. Lastly, a final blow-dry and a bottle of water - and you get all this for $20 +tip. Trina is a great barber. She gives a good cut, is nice to talk to, and is an overall nice person. I've been getting haircuts from her for over a decade. Sure, I've been to many other barbers over the years, but except for one or two old timers in those classic shops in DC and Chicago, no one compares. I have been going to this barber shop ever since it opened. Over the course of the years they have always been very nice and when there is no customer service left in the US, this is one of the few places that still practice and excel at it. I always go in for a hair cut and a shave. Also one of the spots that you can get the hot towels and straight razor treatment. Great place to relax. You might have to go a couple of times until you find the barber that fits what you want your haircut to look like (all barbers are different). But when you find yours, you wont want another barber touching your hair. read more

This is the best barber shop experience I have ever had. It beats some fancy places that I have visited. My haircut came with a scalp / neck massage. As an option, you can get a longer massage, which is well worth it. Once in a while I also add on a shave which is pure relaxation. Afterwards they give everyone a cold bottle of water. The staff is friendly and polite at this Vietnamese-run barber shop in Mclean. What makes this place outstanding though is the level of service. Not only do they offer you a haircut, but they will also put a warm towel on your face, massage your head and shoulders for a minute, and provide you a free drink. All for the price of $17.00 plus tip. The quality of the haircut varies depending on who cuts your hair, but, once you find someone you like, you can make an appointment with him or her. The customers I see usually are men and mothers bringing in their kids for a haircut. From what I've heard, the nail salon next door is owned by the same person. read more

After moving to the area I was looking desperately for a good place to get my hair cut on a regular basis. Doing some Yelping yielded this place, and I must say I was definitely not disappointed at all. They even start you off with a beverage as soon as you arrive, and there are always plenty of stylist so you never have to wait long. It was the best cut I have had in years, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is anywhere close to this area. As noted below they provide much more than just a haircut. After my hair was finished, I was treated to a nice neck and back massage via an electronic pounding (trust me, it feels good) followed by a long rub down by the stylist. Then she put hot shaving cream on my sideburns and neck and cleaned them both up, applying a nice warm towel to my face after to clean any leftover hair off. She even offered to trim my eyebrows once she was finished. They do not shampoo here, but most barbers don't, so don't be surprised if you come and don't receive one. The only complaint I had with this place was that they do not accept any form of credit or debit card. I have a feeling this is so they don't have to report actual amounts received or tips for tax purposes (since the dry cleaner they own next door does take CC), but that could be the cynic in me. As someone who isn't still living clumsily in the past carrying cash around is a real pain. If they want to cheat the system thats their business, but don't inconvenience your customers as a result. read more

I'm thrilled that i can find somewhere that will cut my hair for less than 20 bucks. My old place was overpriced and while the girl who cut my hair was nice to look at, my hair didn't measure up. But, I was content. then she went on maternity leave, and I found out about this place. Try and find someone who you're comfortable with... the person I liked, Tran, QUIT!!! What is it, does my hair drive people away from the profession?! Anyway, so now im investigating further into their 10-12 vietnamese women and seeing which I can make my "regular" again. My main issue is constantly telling people what to do, hwo to do it, and praying that they don't screw up. im getting married in 9 weeks, so hopefully i can find someone reliable before that... or i may be going bald to the wedding. and im pretty sure that wont be approved. anyway, the massage is mediocre, but a nice touch. the hot towel is nice, but when they put it on you after blow drying the hair off your face/shoulders.. its like coming in from a hot day and taking a steaming shower. not exactly fun. they do clean u up with a hot shave.. and thats a nice touch. read more

This place should be renamed the Vietnamese Haircut Factory. Can't decide if I liked this place or not, especially compared to Chau at my regular Hair Cuttery at Lee Centre. I'm sum up the pros and cons: Cons: * Crowded - like 12 chairs in this tiny place * No shampoo included with standard haircut * The neck and shoulder massage was kind of perfunctory and not all that soothing * $18 before tip is a couple bucks more than Hair Cuttery Pros: * Very fast service - even though the place was full, they worked quickly * Straight razor trim of neck and sideburns * Friendly staff - they loudly welcome each new customer through the door Conclusion: Though I like the straight razor and my haircut was ok, I'd rather have my hair washed at the end of the service so I don't get hair all over the place. I think I'll stick with Hair Cuttery. Side Note: I tipped $4 on an $18 service. Maybe I mis-read Dzung's reaction, but she didn't seem pleased. read more

I've been going to ODB for a very long time. Its a McLean land mark if you ask me. I'm an old school guy and still like to go to a barber shop unlike these pretty boys spending $50 at a salon from some girl they have a crush on and then tipping them another $50 hoping for a date. Now that I got that out of the way. ODB is a place that will welcome you in with open arms! Everyone is soooo nice!! You will be handed a cold bottle of water once you sit down. You will receive a very good hair cut and an amazing massage right afterwards. Then they will finish you off with a menthol hot towel that will make your face feel incredible! You pay $20 with a $5 tip and walk out feeling like a million bucks... Take that salon suckers! I'd tell you my barber's name but then I'd be mad if I went and they had a line waiting for just them which is already the case. That's why I call in now because their stock is has just sky rocketed through the roof. BOTTOM LINE: They do an amazing job cutting hair. Cold beverage, Massage, and Menthol Hot Towel are a just a bonus. I'd go there even if they didn't pamper me like that because I love them. ODB for LIFE!! read more

A great barbershop. Have been going here for a haircut close to 10 years now. Both Trina and Jenny have been my barbers and they have always given me excellent harcuts, and all the barbers here are good. The barbers here finish with a scalp and shoulder massage, which is very relaxing. The prices are good and the place is clean and friendly. Took my visiting teenage grandson there, so would recommend it to anyone. read more

The reason why it's 3 stars and not 4 is because I asked for a low fade, and blend in the top. I got a high and tight. Otherwise, this is a nice place to get a hair cut. Prices are comparable to Barber's in McLean, Virginia, $18 cut. That includes a cut, razor, and a brief head, and neck and shoulder massage. Not to mention the cold bottle of water afterward. The reason I give it a final score of 3.5 stars is because although I did not get the cut I wanted, I walked out looking like I represent our nations finest. Hoo-rah. read more

Love this place. Very good to great cuts-really depends on who you get. This shop includes the classic barber shop treatment: hot towel, neck / shoulder / scalp massage, and the straight razor detailing with the hot shaving cream. Everyone understands customer service, and they do a great job at ensuring yo feel at home. They greet you when you enter and exit and even offer free water bottles or soft drinks. The four stars is simply because sometimes (depending on the barber) they don't listen too well to the haircut instructions---so try your best to not fall asleep (good luck), and make sure you get what you want---otherwise, there's always three weeks from today! :) About $18/haircut/neck massage/hot towel---pretty good overall deal. read more

However, regular business rules do apply, so for instance if you show up on Saturday morning at 10am, expect to wait in line, because that's a convenient time for everyone else as well. One of the best old school barbers in the area. I go here to get my hair cut once every three weeks and have been doing so for over 4 years. They also do shaves with hot lather and a straight razor. You'll get a massage as part of the haircut as well as a soda on the way out. These folks are super friendly and I have never had a bad experience. There are only 7 or 8 chairs in the salon, so you may end up waiting 20 minutes sometimes...but it's well worth it. The background music they play in the place is kind of cheesy and your barber may not have the best command over the English....but that makes the experience all the more fun! Come in with a picture of what you want to look like....in my case bald isn't too hard to explain. I have been getting my hair cut from Dominion Barbershop of the past 20 years on and off. (Off due to moving in and out of the area) Each time I have come right back after settling back in the area. My barber Son is very pleasant, understands my "vision" and leaves me in better shape than I walked in. A quick phone ahead has in me in there with in 30 minutes and done with my cut in the next 20. The salon is clean and follows all pandemic protocols. The staff is friendly and they seem to work very well with one another. I highly recommend this Barber Shop if you are in the area. The owner is a sweet, warm and lovely lady who greets every customer upon entering the shop whether she is working on a customer or tidying the shop up and then thanks you for your business as you leave. read more

My husband came here a week or two ago for a haircut, beard trim, and shave for a big interview and he was not disappointed. Son took his time while providing his services, which was appreciated. He was able to shape the beard and hair very nicely and made it look very professional. The brief shoulder massage at the end was a nice touch too. This shop is very old-school, and for a small salon, they have about 8 or so chairs. It was very impressive that they can fit all of those people in there. When we were there, there appeared to be many returning customers coming in for trims, which is always good to see. The price was very reasonable for the services offered. read more

I feel almost guilty giving such a low rating, but they've earned it lately. I've been going to Dominion for about 2 or 2 1/2 years. When I first started going I thought it was excellent, but I think it's been getting worse over time. They used to give you a soda and a shoulder rub after your haircut, but now they give you water and the shoulder rubs seem rather perfunctory. That, in itself, isn't so bad. After all, you're going for a haircut, not a massage and soda pop. One of the selling points of the place was always the straight razor shave on the neck and sideburns. However, 4 of the last 5 or 6 times I've been there, they've given me horrible razor burn. Like "sweat a little bit and your neck catches on fire" kind of razor burn. Maybe my skin is sensitive, but this has happened several times. Don't think it's just the women, either. You'd think some of the men there has never shaved. Why don't they understand that a dry shave with a straight razor is painful? I think there are probably a few good eggs there (Ryan, Mary, a few others I can't remember) but I've had a few stinkers there too. Bottom line: your hair will look fine, you get a 90 second shoulder massage, and - if your skin is at all sensitive - a scorching case of razor burn. Oh, and cash only. read more
