I have also been in serious need to get a cut, especially the back which was a mess. They have a stylist that has been working here for quite some time and he knows how to cut my hair just right. There are a few other stylists in the shop as well, but I haven't really seen their results. I like to go to people I know and kind of trust at least when it comes to haircuts, dentists, and medical professionals. From what I have learned over the years, sticking with the professional who has done a great service for me in the past, is always the best policy. I walked into McLean Barber Shop in McLean, VA on Sunday, May 25th for a walk-in skin fade. Wait time was short, parking was easy, and the shop appeared clean. I paid $24 plus tip. The haircut looked fine initially, but within hours I developed multiple small red nicks all over the back of my head that turned into white crusty spots and a constant stinging sensation. Nearly a week later I'm still treating the area twice daily with 1% hydrocortisone cream and healing ointment. The discomfort and pain still persist. Would not recommend for a close fade. I came here for the first time to get my hair cut today. I'm often in this area but this was the first time I considered getting a haircut here since I desperately needed one. I went to Judy based on the previous reviews here on Yelp. She did not let me down. Even though it was close to closing time (7PM) she was very patient and meticulous and did not rush at all. She really took her time to give me an excellent haircut. I would have to say this is the best haircut I have had in Virginia. In the past in Northern Virginia I had my hair cut at two Moroccan owned barbershops, Kader's Barbershop in Fairfax and Mostafa's Clips in Bailey Crossroads, I got a better haircut at this barbershop (especially compared to Mostafa's Clips). I made an appointment on Friday afternoon. Ali answered the phone and I asked if I could get a cut with him, but he said he was booked all day. So I told him I'd be fine with getting a haircut from anyone else who was available. I got there at my appointment time, and was greeted, but they didn't ask my name, so the appointment but was kind of useless, but it didn't matter because I waited for a very small amount of time. Judy was the one who gave me my haircut, and it was EXACTLY what I wanted. EXACTLY. I had only gone to places like GreatClips before-- and the ladies at those kind of places are so busy yapping about nothing that your haircut is a secondary concern. Here it was different- even though I didn't get that much hair taken off, she took her time and put a lot of attention into trimming and the details. She even got my sideburns straight, and no one can ever do that. So highly recommend! $18 is a really great price for the haircut you will receive, and the people who work here are nice, welcoming, and they will take their time to make sure you get a great cut. Just went yesterday afternoon, and I have to echo all the other reviews here. Ali didn't cut my hair, but the woman that did did a great job. I made an appointment earlier in the day, but I walked in just before 6pm on a Thursday and wouldn't have needed one. Quick and nice cuts, plenty of parking, and the price is very right. I've been to several other places in the area that charge twice as much and do a much worse job. The hot-lather neck shave is something I've been missing as well. I was on the hunt for a new barber, and could not believe the reviews for this "Ali" guy. But, needed a new place and the last two in the Falls Church/McLean area had disappointed. Heeding Yelpers' advice, called and made an appointment for Ali. Now I can never go anywhere else. Ali takes his time to make it perfect (expect half an hour). He really knows what he's doing. Make sure to call ahead since he does fill up fast. There's two other ladies there who I have not been to, but those who do seem to leave happy as well.
