An impromptu rest stop in Solvang on a Wednesday at 9pm meant little to no options foodwise, outside of the fancypants Hitching Post which we were not about to cough up the coin for--plus, only one of us was of wine-enjoying age. Post-motel check in wandering down the 246 proved both the surreal weirdness of Solvang and that we probably weren't going to eat a hot meal. But wait! Domino's Pizza!? Sure, okay. We went inside and looked at a menu. I felt pretty stupid for looking at a menu at Domino's. We ordered a large pie with pepperoni and sausage--$20 with a light tip. Why is pizza so expensive? I thought. Whatever, food, right? We buckled down in the tiny storefront and gazed at the massive soft-focus pizza portrait on the opposite wall, and waited for our own portrait-worthy pie. Fifteen minutes later, we were walking back to our motel, pizza in hand, realizing at the threshhold of the door the sad fact: "We just delivered a pizza to ourselves." You know what, though? This was probably the best pizza I have ever had from a Domino's establishment. Holy shit, it was crispy and crunchy, and hot and full of awesome. The pepperoni was crisp and flavorful, the sausage was juicy, and the cheese was deliciously gooey but solid. What the hell, Domino's? When did you scientifically perfect the take-out pizza? I'm a bit dejected to write a review of a mega-chain pizza place. However the sad fact is that this is the best pizza in Solvang. This review might keep me up at night with nightmares, but I do recommend eating here (I would like to give it 3 1/2 stars if possible, but I would rather over-rate this place in hopes of steering people away from other terrible pizza choices). I live 5-minutes from this Domino's but was busy working at home with my son so requested an X-large pizza for delivery. Was informed it would take 30- minutes at $29 price: pepperoni, sausage, and jalapenos. My son agreed that it seemed more expensive than we expected. The pizza arrived 1 hour later, was lukewarm and didn't look like an extra large. In fact I opened the box before the driver could rush off because it felt so light. The pizza was worse than a frozen pizza we could have purchased at the market. what a rip off!! what we ordered: large deluxe pizza, 3 chicken alfredo, coke We arrived at Solvang at 8:30 pm on a Monday night (night before Veteran's Day) and to our dismay all of the stores are closed with the exceptioin of Domino's and the liquor store next to it. I was never a fan of their pizza but we liked what we had and the pizza was good as well. The staff was very helpful and even informed us that they're the only one open after 9pm and they are open till 11pm. They charge $1.25 for little Parmesan and pepper containers. There was also a big container on the counter that was open for use and my friend sprinkled some on his plate and an employee immediately yanked it out of his hands and said these were not for use. For of all, why the fuck do u have an open container sitting out??? i don't know if this Domino's recently sold, is under new management or just hired an entirely new staff, but the quality has gone waaaaaaaaaaay down hill. I placed an order for a pizza and wings earlier in the month and it took just over an hour for it to be delivered, and delivered barely warm and the pizza toppings were sparse. "A flook," I thought. Typically delivery is speedy and items arrive hot with a generous amount of cheese and toppings. Days later I did receive and email with promo codes for some good deals for the inconvenience, yet none of the deals were similar to what I usually order, so they did me no good in the long run, but nice effort. A free identical order would have been better! :) Today I ordered again -- 2 2-topping pizzas using their special $5.99 each coupon. I did pick up and the order was ready when it said it would be. BUT, once again, the quality was lacking. Very little cheese on either pie. One was mushroom & onion and literally had 2-3 shavings of mushroom per slice. The 2nd was jalepeño & pineapple where, I kid you not, there was 1 jalepeño per slice and 2-3 chunks of pineapple. These were once robust pizzas coming from this location, with all the locals saying it's the best Domino's they've ever tasted. I would have to agree for the exception of the last month or two where they seem to be getting super stingy with toppings. What I had thought was just a bad day seems to now be the trend. We went to the casino and stayed longer than expected...Dominos is the only restaurant in Solvang that you can eat at after 10...so we went for it. My husband considers himself a pizza connoisseur and he thoroughly enjoyed his pizza. The girl who delivered it was named Jaclyn and she was so sweet, we had checked in at 1130 right after my husband had placed the online order and we saw her delivering to someone else at the hotel we were at, she had to go back to the restaurant and come right back and she was super friendly even at midnight!! So, fun story y'all. They apparently don't deliver to Los Olivos. We had to call five different times and beg to have them bring us food. This took some serious negotiations in the long run, by the way. Finally, they took our order. Have you ever eaten a saltine cracker before? Yea? That's the thin crust. I'm lactose intolerant, so unfortunately I can't drown my sorrows in queso. We ordered a thin crust pizza as a red pie, and TWO OTHER CHEESE SLATHERED pizzas. You'd think they'd understand. My pizza was so crispy and stiff that I could literally hold a glass of wine on top of it. The others, I'm sure were fine, but the fact that we had to guarantee a tip they always receive from us was slightly unsettling. After it was finally delivered, which they told us we could meet them in Ballard to get it, which seems silly as it's literally 4 miles away, they offered us a cheaper price, which appreciated wasn't more than a 10% discount on a good day. This place is the only late night food in the area. We placed our order. When we arrived for pick up the poor girl, Marisa, was working her butt off alone. She had several orders waiting. She was running around trying to do everything by herself. We helped her fold boxes because we felt very bad for her. We hope that this situation never happens again. My husband and his friend gave her a $20 tip and wished they could give her more because they couldn't believe how hard she was working. We would have given her 5 stars for her effort, but we give this Domino's 3 stars because it's a shame they don't value their employees the way they should. read more

This is probably the best Domino's I've ever eaten at. I've been eating at this location since I moved here about ten years ago, and the quality of their pizzas has never let me down. Only once or twice has there been a delay in delivery, and the employees are always very polite. I have ordered from this location twice a week since I moved here in August. I would say they get the order accurate 40 percent of the time and meet the delivery time they advertise at the same rate. I'm not quite sure how they are still in business other than there is no one else that can deliver to my area or after hours. The management always seems under staffed. They don't hire enough drivers, they lack communication, and they are constantly having to provide me with free items because of their mistakes. The product is also quite variable from good to sub par. I feel bad for the drivers who seem to have to take the brunt of the discontent. I never post on Yelp but I hope that it gets better mostly because I feel bad fir the short term employees who work there. read more
