    Fresh cow tongue and tripe
    Robert M.

Bought a cow tongue and tripe! They had it! Really good meat market with all the meats!

1.2 lbs dry-aged, bone-in rib steak. Home roasted.

This is the only butcher stand in Pike Place Market, and I have been going out of my way just to get their dry-aged steaks for home roasting. Their quality is bar none as far as I'm aware of and easily beats anything you can get at Wholefoods in that category. Their dry-aged meat is a delight - it has that characteristic, nutty taste, is tender and juicy. They do not label their beef as 'prime', although it almost could be - the marbling is usually very excellent! Hands down my first choice for recently demised cow - highly recommended.

Mah mah mah meat! Great snacks on the go amongst all the fish tossing and other sweets in Pikes market. I tried the Landjaeger, spicy pepperoni, and jalapeño cheddar.. no, not all on one visit.. my dad had the sausage and cheese "trail mix," which was a blend of their sausages with cubes of cheddar for $5.00. What a deal for all the flavors! Great spot. I didn't get any raw meats (though if the hotel had a grill I may have) , but it did look good and reasonably priced.

I've always seen this shop and never thought I would stop here on a vacation trip. YES! I was looking for dinner and since my hotel had a full kitchenette , I know where I was heading at PIkes Market. I was greeted with a smile and choices that was offered. Oh I went for the Filet Mignon ! I was given a choice thick cut or thin ? seasoned yes they do :) I will tell you everything in that meat case was fresh and hard to choose. Staff EXCELLENT! they will help if you have any questions. My Filet was very delicious melted like butter and seasoning was perfect ! Thank You make it a surf and turf while you are at Pikes Market

Rabbit stew, with baguette and butter. Rabbit courtesy of Don & Joe's. All other ingredients, also bought at Pike Place Market!

When I first moved to Seattle, Don and Joe's was one of my first stops. I was living out of a hotel with limited kitchen resources, and they sold me the most amazing soy-free beef jerky, and impressed me with their great variety of meats, both typical and more exotic. This past weekend, finally moved in to my new place, and with a (probably) working kitchen, I returned to buy one of those more exotic meats. I wanted to make rabbit stew. Rabbit is one of my very favorite meats, and throughout my life, I've mostly lived in places where it was unattainable, unless you had a fenced in back yard and were quick on your feet. My rabbit was just $10/lbs, which is, in my opinion, a bargain price. Unfortunately, the smallest rabbit they had was nearly four pounds, which means I'm eating rabbit stew all of this week, and the other half of the rabbit is safely in the freezer for the next time I'm craving it. They kindly cut up the rabbit into stew-sized pieces for me. After having had three dinners of rabbit stew, so far, I can safely and confidently say that this was an outstanding bunny, and if I ever run out of this one, I wouldn't consider going anywhere else to get another. When I arrived at the counter, first thing on Monday morning, they were weighing out fresh chorizo, and it smelled amazing. I'm looking forward to trying that, along with their chicken, pork, beef, lamb, goat, and anything else they can put into a bag for me to carry home.

Want fresh, local meats with friendly service? If so, this is the place to go in Pike Place Market. As a local in the neighborhood, this is the place I come to every week for fresh quality meats. The chicken is fresh along with daily ground beef. The staff are friendly and happy to help with your order. They even accommodate request. However, they are not opened on Sundays so make sure to get your shopping done beforehand. In addition, compared to other meat prices in the area, you can taste the quality in their meats. If you are a local in the neighborhood or visiting and looking to cook, this is a stop on the list at Pike Place Market!

Even though I'm a local, I'm a fan of Pike Place Market (more so during off seasons); as such, I've seen Don and Joe during the many visits but usually not open because I always go on Sundays when parking is free in Seattle. Hehe. I happened to be here on a Tuesday, and basically made a beeline here to see what I can buy that will last till I get home, not having planned ahead with a cooler bag for raw meats. My verdict was beef jerky! I have a strong affection for jerky. There's something about really, really good jerky that has incredible flavors, the meat's absorbency, that umami flavor. But really, really good jerky is hard to find, and I always get mine from freshly made places if possible. D&J had them! I tried two flavors - original and pepper. They are both fantastic! Neither is overly salty, a big no-no for most packaged brands. The original simply has a fantastic umami flavor. The pepper is lightly peppered, not too much. I probably would like it up a notch or two, but it's good as is too. I also like their bundle packs of meats called "freezer package". See one of my photos. If I was stocking up for a season, I can see myself doing such a bulk buy. Their meats are picture perfect. Check out that "Tomahawk Beef Rib Chop" in one of my photos. If you're a big meat eater, you know where to go!

This is a great, little meat shop in Pike Place Market. Unfortunately, it's right next to the fish monger who's made flying fish famous. That makes it a little harder to get to. But once you get here, they have some great meat at fair prices. They also carry a variety of meats that are harder to find. I went there for duck. The staff is friendly and helpful. Also knowledgeable. Overall, a great place to buy meats in Seattle.

    1 of 3 is a t-bone. Others are bone-in NY strips at the price of a t-bone
    Jon C.

I bought three t-bones and received the three shown in the picture. One was great. The others were bone-in NY strips. I showed the butcher the picture and he defended his position that t-bone doesn't have to have filet meat on it. Seriously??? I've spent probably $1000 at this shop in 2021. given the unpredictable quality of the cuts, I'm done.

    Exotic meats section!

Do they have grass fed meat?

We feature a variety of local, Washington beef. You can ask the butcher to talk to you about grass-fed/corn finished and the fully grass fed options. We also have a selection of aged beef, we're proud of and famous for.

My boyfriend's little brother briefly leaned back against the meat shop's display case, and the owner immediately snapped: "Do me a favor and get your butt off my case." His brother got off the case right away, but the owner continued to mutter "fucking rude". He stared us down and started shooing us away with his hands, literally saying "Get." like we were animals. We stepped aside, but he kept staring us down. I asked him, "What are you looking at? What do you want us to do?" He escalated things further and said: "Do you want me to come find your house?" Absolutely inexcusable to say to anyone, let alone a young woman. When my boyfriend said, "You could have been nice about it." He said, "I don't have to." This wasn't just a reminder about his equipment, it was the tone, the hostility, and the lack of basic respect. No one came into the building after us, so we were not obstructing anyone from going to his business. We were simply waiting for our food and were met with aggression from this man. He does not deserve any business after such a lack of basic decency.

We recently started going to one of their locations outside of Seattle whenever we were in the area. The service remains flawless. It's one of the few butcher shops that consistently deserves a tip but they are always a bit extra! This week, we did a perfect surf & turf : wagyu steak and Chilean sea bass - complete with accompaniments. The fish was flaky and the steak was perfectly seasoned, seared and medium rare. As I was setting up drinks, I was the last one at the table. The steaks were sitting there and everyone had stopped eating. When I asked how it was, I was told "Try it, tell us what you think". I sliced into the steak. It looked amazing. I bit in. BUT afte a chew, I stopped eating it. The beef was definitely 'off' andd spoiled - which explained why no one was eating it. Fortunately, it was surf & turf night so we still had enough to eat. But after paying wagyu prices and lovingly cooking the steak, the disappointment was beyond words. Obviously I will call the store as I want to make sure they pull the remaining inventory from theirr display. At this point, my husband is worried as he had three bites as he presumed the aftertaste was from the truffle sauce I had drizzled. Now, he's worried that he will get sick. I guess time will tell. So FYI --- make sure you check the original dates of the meat before they cut/vaccum seal. Long story short - I hope they read this and review their QA processs to ensure all meats are dated/rotated/stored.

The only drawback was the price--at around $20 per sandwich, it felt a bit expensive for what you get, especially considering it was just a 6-inch sub, even though the quality was good. We visited during a FIFA World Cup match, so the line was quite long, but it moved steadily and efficiently. No complaints there. The atmosphere is casual and straightforward, with indoor seating only. Its downtown location near the stadiums makes it a convenient spot for a quick meal before or after an event. Overall, a good sandwich shop with quality food, though the pricing keeps it from being a must-visit. I'd still come back to finally try that Cubano.
