My go-to for Vietnamese food. Hands down. Their shaking beef dish is consistently flavorful. If you listen with your tastebuds, simply amazing. Always fresh. Their grilled pork banh mi sandwiches are very good with the flaky crust and warm inner bread. No, jalapeños but I have considerations (I love it with jalapeños!) outside of myself. Love their vermicelli noodles (bun) and their egg rolls. Their pho, absolutely flavorful! Before I learned the proper way to eat pho, I had no clue how good theirs was. The broth is absolutely delicious and again fresh. No need for hoisin, Sriracha or even more than a gentle squeeze of the fresh lime. I always leave there absolutely stuffed. Their pork chops are REALLY good too though it's been a while since I was able to tear myself from the shaking beef dish. (Confession: my absolute favorite dish with them is the shaking beef and it's extremely difficult for me to choose other dishes.). They don't have American tea (black pekoe) or southern (sweet) tea but their Thai tea is refreshing as is their cafe du lac (Vietnamese iced coffee). I've recommended this place to several friends by word of mouth and only lately realized I really should Yelp for them. I refuse to go to the Bellaire location mostly because I've gotten to know the awesome folks at this location (plus I don't want to go out of the area). Very highly recommended. read more

The "bánh mì" is nice but the customer skill of their people was so bad. This is the second time I learnt on their unprofessional and disrespectful. I placed an order at 11AM and was informed it would be ready around 20 minutes. I came to pick up my order at 11:25AM and did not see my stuff. I was asked to pay without any notice. I stood there waiting for more than 20 minutes without any escuse or explanation. During that time, I recognize the person came at the same time with me, placed an order at 11:25AM, have number 36, picked his order and the person with number 192 also did have the order (my order number was 184-order over phone) and the in-store order number was around 36) The guy left was number 36 placed an order after mine 25 minutes. I complained due to I did wait for 45 minutes and the guy at the cashier show me his hand with my money "do you want to take your money back?" With an impolite voice! This might be my last time coming to this store, we have different store with nice "Bánh mì" in this area, and I don't think I should come to a store when I went out and lost all of my appetite. read more

Roach in my soup!!! We've been eating here for a while this used to be a fav spot for lunch but no more, not after that.

The food is fantastic and the service is great. However, there's been two times where I've found something I shouldn't have in my food. The first time, there was a metal bristle from the metal brushes used to clean the grilling grates in my sandwich. The second time, there was a bug in my soup. Good food at good price. But you have to spend $10 to use credit or debit and did not find out till I got to the register after eating. The normal lunch combo price is about 7 to 8 bucks. The card swipe cost can be absorbed by the $1.50 20oz bottle soda I think... Who carries cash??? I went today with a couple of friends for lunch from our training at the school across the restaurant. The service was horrible. We ordered a shrimp fried rice and 2 vermicellis. The rice came pretty quick but it took about 35 minutes for the vermicelli to come, the noodles were sticky and cold. The fish sauce was brought 5 minutes later. The waiter never came back to our table to check on us, my water was never refilled. The food was ok; I have been to better Vietnamese places in downtown. I walked into the restaurant and stood at the counter for like 15 minutes and my friend was thinking about what she was going to order and the guy at the register told her to hurry... then we got our food pretty quick, but he forgot to put in my friends order so we had to wait another 15 minutes to get her food, so we took it to go and when we walked out of the restaurant there was a truck and in the tailgate there were bags of beef completely filling the truck and it was just sitting there in the sunso I didn't eat my sandwich but my friends did and she couldn't even finish it read more

I am shocked to see the portion sizes. I usually got two orders of pho and fried rice. It's just rice noodles and rice, how much can the ingredients cost ? Albeit the container was big, there was just a bit more than one handful of fried rice for ~ $7. Pho was also too oily, not in par with the Bellaire location. Worst, stop chastising your employees. The cook in the kitchen who seems to be the owner or manager has belittled his staff (comments like "Come on, use your brain") almost every time I'm in there to the point customers look at each other in disbelief. I'm not complaining because he's doing it in front of customers - just don't do it, period. read more

Been to this establishment several times but this time it was only mediocre at best. The sandwiches were dry and tasteless. The fried rice was dry and only filled up half of the to go container. Either they ran out of rice or the purposely limit their portions to maximize their profitability. Unfortunately they will lose customers and not have any customers or profitability so their business model is not very sound. The original location on Bellaire Blvd is much better. read more

When we got 5 sandwiches we were supposed to get one free, but we were told that they ran out of bread. They gave us a hard time when we asked for a voucher for the free sandwich. When we spoke to the manager, he argued with us before finally giving us the voucher. read more

I went there tonight at 8:30 (they close at 9) and see people inside sitting around. when I tried opening the door, it was locked but there was someone right on the other side of the door cleaning the mat. I tried to get his attention (even tho I know he saw me) and he ignored me. I then knocked on the window and he looked right at me and turned around and walked away. love the food but he could at least have the courtesy to acknowledge me. read more

There is an old Asian guy that's works here he might be the chef or owner but he came off as extremely rude as he tried to tell me not to order a side that comes with my lunch plate that I am paying for just because I don't finish it all! Their food is very good!! i have tried their grilled chicken with rice and their sandwiches. Great price, they deliver of its more than $15.00. The Banh mi here are always good and fresh but it usually take them a few minutes to make. The price is 25 cent more than Chinatown but it beats to drive that far to save a dollar. you can call ahead and it will be ready when you arrive. buy 5 get 1 free deal is always a good deal. read more

Please avoid this place. they have major hygiene issues with their employees. i went with my family to this place since it was the only place open for pho. the server brought us our waters and i noticed that some of the water cups had streak of red "sauce". i thought that it was siracha sauce. we asked to get new cups for the ones that were dirty and again we saw red specks on some of the cups as well on the straws. we also ordered iced coffee and again saw streaks of red sauce. to my horror as the waitress was taking our orders, her thumb was bleeding! ( she was standing right next to me so i had clear view of it). i immediately got up to look for the manager. as i was looking for him, i saw into the kitchen and that the girl was standing there sucking her bloody thumb. i finally found and told the manager. i don't know what she was thinking serving food with a bloody thumb. common sense would say put a band aid on it. i hope and pray no one got stds like hep A or something. just to top it off, as i was eating my pork with rice, i found a piece of hair in my rice. the manager did try to make it up to us my giving us free banana chips :T read more

I was very disappointed in them today. We went in during lunch, and were one of the first ones there and were able to place our order right away. We waited and waited and never got our food. Everyone that came in after us was already eating. No one ever came over to check on us. So I called over the waitress and she just checked the computer but didn't say anything to us. Some time later someone else came and said they had technical issues (at least that is what she called it). She asked what we had ordered and at that point put our order in. We had already been there so long and we were running out off time for our lunch hour. Our food finally came out. the manager came out and apologize and offered a discount. I told him that we had run out of time and if they could pack it to go and they should give it to us for free since they made us waist all our time and it was their error. He said NO! and gave us his back. So we walked out. They prefer to throw food out (as they shouldn't server to no one else) then make up for their mistake. VERY VERY disappointed.
