Don Chon has become my husband's and my go-to restaurant in the Valley for breakfast. We've tried several dishes, including the chilaquiles, menudo, eggs Benedict, sandwiches, and waffles, and everything has been delicious. Their coffee is excellent, and the matcha is just as good. The service is always friendly and fast. Even though it's a small restaurant, the wait is usually very reasonable. One thing I have to recommend is the waffles. They're simple, but so incredibly good. If you have the option, order them with the cream cheese whipped cream it takes them to the next level! We will definitely keep coming back. read more

I was nervous due to the size of the restaurant that it was going to be hot inside. Surprisingly it was not! Got there when it opened at 8am. Got seated right away. Service was Excellent! Arrived early around 9:10 am. Plenty of seating inside. They welcomed us and sat us down right away. The ladies were so happy to be there with a smile on their face. It was nice listening to some romantic music Esbe took our order, she was super attentive and friendly. My husband and I ordered the Menudo rojo/red that included pata and hominy. It was very delicious where you can adjust to your taste by adding onion, cilantro, oregano, chile de Arbol and salt if needed. They have 2 options a small or large. The large was so filing, I could barely finish it. The freshly made corn tortillas were so good, took the rest home! My cafe de olla was perfect in flavor, you can adjust to your taste, by adding half and half or any more sugar. Went here with a party of 7. Came around 12-1pm on a Saturday. The place is welcoming with nice decor. Its not big but not small. I usually order menudo to go and it's some of the best around. This time was dine in. The hostess was nice. We got our order in. But this took some time to get our order fully. Now Im factoring in the wait took about 45min. That fine we were a large group. They weren't too packed after we sat so. It was a bit discouraging that 6 out of the 7 orders placed came out and had to remind them. I got what I normally get which was the menudo. I got it with pata this time. This time around it was ok. There was not the same amount they usually put in the to go orders. The broth felt a little watered than normal thus lacking that deep flavor. Still good but probably one of the not so good times. Also tried the guac n salsa n chips. All were really good. Feels like a neigborhood staple Get there too late on the weekends for breakfast and you will have to wait outside. We tried the Cafe De Olla both hot and iced. A must try...The balance ! The balance between the sugar and cinnamon is excellence. The mulitas (not featured) are the best along with the Blanco Menudo. Very generous portions of everything. The was our first time trying this spot. We found them on IG and let me say it did not disappoint. Everyone is very welcoming and our server Fernanda was very friendly. I got the pozole and it was really good, my BF got the menudo and honestly this is by far the best I've ever had! We also tried the crispy birria tacos with cheese the meat was so tender. A lot of times menudo can have a super greasy film on top--which has its own charm--but this broth is clearer while still packing tons of deep flavor. The tripe is cooked to absolute perfection, and the *pata* pieces are no joke. Eating this one is a full-contact sport, so expect to roll up your sleeves and dig in with your hands. They serve it with thick, homemade corn tortillas that are the perfect companion, and they aren't stingy with them at all--you get a great amount to work your way through the bowl. The worst part about going somewhere new to eat, is being looked at like a science experiment lol Outside of that, the food was great. The service was still kind, and prompt. Okayyyyyy we decided to try this hole-in-the-wall because typically hole- n-the-walls are extremely fire but this one definitely miss, was VERY MID!!! We visited this restaurant on a Friday morning, which was relatively quiet. However, the waiters were quite forgetful. I stopped by years ago and picked up some menudo and it was good, but now that they have remodeled and expanded their menu, it will be a usual place for us. Service was friendly and fast for the most part. The place is small so expect a wait and accommodating a big party may be difficult. Perfect for small groups or be ok with sitting separately. This was our first time and we're very excited to try. We arrived and put our name down around 10:40 and didn't mind the wait. Unfortunately a group of 3 arrived after my group of 4 and for some reason the waitress sat them with such urgency and priority that I was concerned we were somehow erased or forgot on the list. After notifying the hostess in English she rudely ignored me and only addressed my party in only spanish even though I was the one addressing her and she was very fluent in English. But no worries we did not let that sour our amazing breakfast as well as experience once seated by a separate waitress (who was surprised we were skipped and showed concern for why we were skipped to which she received no answer) the cafe de olla was great as well as food and service from every staff was amazing definitely coming back!!! 5 stars if not for first waitress.
