This location of Don Chon is a little hood, next to a liquor store where older men hang out. So please be safe however inside it's a small, cute, safe, and has a ramp entrance. We went on a random Monday, there was parking on the street about 3-4 cars can park. Once inside there are about 8-10 tables from what I can remember, when we got there half of them were occupied. We were able to self seat and as our brunch went on the fuller the restaurant got. If I had to guess I would say plant to wait for a table on the weekend. There were a lot of families, the food was pretty amazing ! We got chilaquiles divorciados, the green ones were much yummier than the red ones, we did have a few chips that were a little too hard, the asada on them tasted amazing. We got the menudo of course(its in the restaurant name)we found it to be very tasty, not too fatty not too healthy, they served it with all the appropriate sides including tortillas hechas a mano. We got a child's meal as well which included one of the most delicious perfectly made waffle. We did get cafe de olla which was not extremely sweet not bitter. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the matchata, its supposed to be matcha & horchata. I am a matcha lover but found it too grainy, and bitter, & didn't taste like horchata at all,, it was topped with whip cream and sprinkles as well which I wasn't a fan of. They had other cool items on their menu that we didn't get to taste like a coffee with mazapán if anyone tastes it let me know. There were multiple women working and they would all help out there seemed to be one who did take out order and came to check on us a little more often but they were all attentive to our needs when we asked for help.
Went here with a party of 7. Came around 12-1pm on a Saturday. The place is welcoming with nice decor. Its not big but not small. I usually order menudo to go and it's some of the best around. This time was dine in. The hostess was nice. We got our order in. But this took some time to get our order fully. Now Im factoring in the wait took about 45min. That fine we were a large group. They weren't too packed after we sat so. It was a bit discouraging that 6 out of the 7 orders placed came out and had to remind them. I got what I normally get which was the menudo. I got it with pata this time. This time around it was ok. There was not the same amount they usually put in the to go orders. The broth felt a little watered than normal thus lacking that deep flavor. Still good but probably one of the not so good times. Also tried the guac n salsa n chips. All were really good. That salsa is perfect. Also had a bite of the chilaquiles and yeah they are how I like em. Tasty but not overly sauced.
Food is amazing, the service was very good I have no complaints it was worth the travel from Boyle Heights.
Service was Excellent! Arrived early around 9:10 am. Plenty of seating inside. They welcomed us and sat us down right away. The ladies were so happy to be there with a smile on their face. It was nice listening to some romantic music Esbe took our order, she was super attentive and friendly. My husband and I ordered the Menudo rojo/red that included pata and hominy. It was very delicious where you can adjust to your taste by adding onion, cilantro, oregano, chile de Arbol and salt if needed. They have 2 options a small or large. The large was so filing, I could barely finish it. The freshly made corn tortillas were so good, took the rest home! My cafe de olla was perfect in flavor, you can adjust to your taste, by adding half and half or any more sugar. I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu especially the chilaquiles and the rest of the drinks!
This restaraunt that's surrounded by residential homes in Pacas is an undiscovered treasure. A small spot with a heavy client base. Feels like a neigborhood staple Get there too late on the weekends for breakfast and you will have to wait outside. We tried the Cafe De Olla both hot and iced. A must try...The balance ! The balance between the sugar and cinnamon is excellence. The mulitas (not featured) are the best along with the Blanco Menudo. Very generous portions of everything. Tacos Dorados (not featured) are okay. The staff is effecient and professional. Service is quick for turning over table. This will remain on my breakfast spot list.
Leaving a review as I'm walking out 10/10... Cafe de olla 10/10 Los chilaquiles 10/10 French toast 10/10 Queso taco de birria 10/10 And everyone was so nice and attentive And they make their tortillas right there on the spot Definitely recommend to come here I will be back !!!
The was our first time trying this spot. We found them on IG and let me say it did not disappoint. Everyone is very welcoming and our server Fernanda was very friendly. I got the pozole and it was really good, my BF got the menudo and honestly this is by far the best I've ever had! We also tried the crispy birria tacos with cheese the meat was so tender. Note: don't let the long line scare you, it's worth the wait. Although it's a small spot they get a lot of people in there (not crammed). They also get your food out really quick to you. Definitely coming back again!!!
I visited two months ago and I am still thinking about the tasty chicharrón! Don Chon Menudo is no secret to anyone as this place is very busy and has a wait when I was there enjoying every last bite of the saucy chilaquiles. The space is very small, but I never felt rushed. The service is great and the food amazing! The parking sucks though.
The worst part about going somewhere new to eat, is being looked at like a science experiment lol Outside of that, the food was great. The service was still kind, and prompt. The environment is very nice very elegant. I had the Chilaquiles, I think the red sauce needs work, a little bit of meat in there would've been great, but overall it was delicious. Especially, after I asked for a little more cream, onions and cilantro. It was prepared fresh and came out quickly.

The tables are clean, the space is well-organized, and the kitchen area looks highly respected by the cooks. It's a true new jewel for Pacoima! Now for the food. I started with the breakfast burrito-- el mañanero, and honestly, it's unbelievable. It's a great combination of meats, eggs, and sauces. You can really see how the restaurant's detail-oriented aesthetic carries right onto the plate--the burrito is perfectly folded, cleanly cut, and beautifully presented next to a nice side of house-seasoned potatoes. Their menudo is also done incredibly well. It doesn't taste like a rushed, mass-produced big-pot batch; it tastes clean, incredibly fresh, and like they just made it. A lot of times menudo can have a super greasy film on top--which has its own charm--but this broth is clearer while still packing tons of deep flavor. The tripe is cooked to absolute perfection, and the *pata* pieces are no joke. Eating this one is a full-contact sport, so expect to roll up your sleeves and dig in with your hands. They serve it with thick, homemade corn tortillas that are the perfect companion, and they aren't stingy with them at all--you get a great amount to work your way through the bowl. I'd actually recommend ordering a small bowl because the portions are so generous. This was my first time here, and I'm really looking forward to exploring the rest of the menu since it's definitely about more than just menudo. They have Mexican and US traditional plates with fusion mix that gives them a unique identity all their own. On top of that, the staff could not be nicer, more attentive, or more fun to talk to. Okayyyyyy we decided to try this hole-in-the-wall because typically hole- n-the-walls are extremely fire but this one definitely miss, was VERY MID!!! We visited this restaurant on a Friday morning, which was relatively quiet. However, the waiters were quite forgetful. I had to ask for water more than twice, and they seemed disorganized and not very attentive to our needs. Now the food looks great in pictures , however that's ALSO MISSED! we ordered several things and besides the burrito , everything was MID, not much flavor , syrup was Almost frozen , didn't even know syrup can freeze , coffee was very unflavored and boring , but looks great !!! Pricing is the same everywhere but rather spend my money elsewhere! Would not recommend, save your money and go elsewhere .
Stopped by for breakfast with my family and we LOVED it. I stopped by years ago and picked up some menudo and it was good, but now that they have remodeled and expanded their menu, it will be a usual place for us. Service was friendly and fast for the most part. The place is small so expect a wait and accommodating a big party may be difficult. Perfect for small groups or be ok with sitting separately. Now for the food, it was delicious. We got the chilaquiles with a ribeye (spicy and so good), breakfast burrito, a waffle and menudo. Everyone was happy with their food!
Have you ever gone to a cafe with pancakes and menudo served all day? I mean, that is just dope!!! Menudo is one of my favorite Mexican dishes, and learning about this place where you can eat it for breakfast or brunch is excellent! I recommend this place because the servers are knowledgeable about the food, service is quick, and the bathroom is clean. My husband and I will definitely come back!

This was our first time and we're very excited to try. We arrived and put our name down around 10:40 and didn't mind the wait. Unfortunately a group of 3 arrived after my group of 4 and for some reason the waitress sat them with such urgency and priority that I was concerned we were somehow erased or forgot on the list. After notifying the hostess in English she rudely ignored me and only addressed my party in only spanish even though I was the one addressing her and she was very fluent in English. But no worries we did not let that sour our amazing breakfast as well as experience once seated by a separate waitress (who was surprised we were skipped and showed concern for why we were skipped to which she received no answer) the cafe de olla was great as well as food and service from every staff was amazing definitely coming back!!! 5 stars if not for first waitress. Edit: before being seating no other guests exited the restaurant once brought inside there were two large enough tables to accommodate my party I understand an accommodation for a smaller party but there was more than enough room for my party and as far as the "language barrier" that waitress spoke fluent English no excuse but thank you for your time and response your business is beautiful I wish it a long life in the community. read more

Came here for some breakfast and how Hispanics say "no se si era por el hambre o esta rica la comida" which for my non Spanish speakers it translates to "don't know if it was cause of the hunger or this food is actually good". Will definitely be coming back not only for the food but also for the good service that we were given. . As we are on a quest to find the best menudo we had to try this place. We got there at 9:40 and waited about 10 min. The place is tiny and it gets packed so be prepared to wait. The menudo was meh. The only reason why I gave it a three stars was because the red salsa was super spicy and the birria tacos were delicious. Perhaps they should change the name to Don Chons Birria. read more

I came in this morning to pick up a Menudo since it's a rainy and cold day. It's my first time ever coming to this restaurant but it was highly recommended so I gave it a try. Let me tell you that the Menudo was amazingly tasty. The broth was flavorful and they served a good portion of meat. I was happy to show up to work and have everything that was required for the menudo. Nothing missing. Provided cilantro, onions, chile de arbol, limes and oregano. Also handmade tortillas! They have made a new customer out of me and I cannot wait to try more items on the menu. read more

We were really excited to try out the Matchata, but overall it was a 3.5/5 for me I was hoping for a stronger creamy consistency to really stand out. We paired our drinks with both a savory and a sweet plate. Everything was okay, though I was expecting a bit more flair from the huevos con chorizo. The pancakes, on the other hand, were light and easy to cut into. The Berry Berry combo was a nice highlight with its balance of sweetness and creaminess. read more

This place was AMAZING!!! Food was soooo good!! Super delicious and gourmet. The lattes were yummy and in the cutest mason jars. The wait was a bit of a wait but this is only there SECOND weekend being open . It's totally understandable and totally worth it. The staff was friendly and a bit off. Again same reason...they just opened. We had to ask for silverware and one latte was missing but they are new and learning. Everything else was great and we really enjoyed ourselves. Nick and Johanna are great and you can tell they are really trying to make everyone's experience a wonderful one. They put a lot of love and effort into their food. Highly recommended 10/10 read more

We ordered the red chilaquiles w/ birria & the green chilaquiles w/ carne asada which were both good. I would say both sauces are spicy so if you don't like spicy food I would not recommend it. The only downfall is that the restaurant is hot so it makes eating spicy food a bit uncomfortable. read more

I'm so happy we have this food spot in Pacoima. I had the Chilaquiles divorciados, with egg and added carne asada. The red and green sauce are good and spicy! The meat was well seasoned, my mom had the menudo, she enjoyed it and she's a picky Mexican food critic LOL, she loved the homemade tortillas. Our waitress was sweet and made sure we were okay with our orders, the inside is super clean and cute. I will definitely be going back!! read more

Nick and his family have added a new menu concept which I have to say was amazing! The presentation, quality, and taste all are 10/10. They have exceeded my expectations and I had to bring my whole family to get an authentic great experience and they also loved the menudo, hand made tortillas, and other breakfast options they ordered. The inside is cozy and patience is important as any breakfast spot is very common to have some wait times, but the wait is definitely worth it. The service is amazing and they make you feel like family! Recommend whoever wants to try this GEM to go and enjoy! read more

best menudo in the valley! it's our go-to weekend spot if you want some nice rich caldo. we haven't tried much beyond the menudo because it's so crave-worthy, but we have tried the birria, which was super delicious! really nice portion of meat. the service is really good, everyone is super sweet and helpful! there aren't many tables inside so expect a wait on weekends. it's also rare for there to be menudo blanco late on weekends as it usually sells out, so get there early if you're hoping to try it, but if they sell out, the menudo rojo is just as delicious! read more

Was recommended this place by a friend and decided to try it out today! I was so impressed by all that we tried! We had the Chilaquiles Divorciados with Chorizo and they were amazing! The red ones were super delicious and had an amazing flavor. The green ones were just a little spicy if you like that. We also tried a chicken mulita and it had an amazing flavor. We also had the French Toast with strawberries banana and Nutella. It was superrrrr delicious. Usually French toast can taste bland and too eggy but this French toast was the opposite of that. They bread itself had a cinnamon flavor and it wasn't too sweet and it was perfect. We also tried the Café Con Chata. It was yummy and not too like some horchata drinks tend to be. The service was excellent and we never had to wait for anything. Everyone was super sweet and attentive. The restaurant itself is small but this didn't matter. We still had space in there without feeling like it was super crammed! I will be returning and recommending to others! read more

The reviews for this establishment was totally wrong!!! I took my wife and daughter for brunch at 11am and needed up leaving at 12:30pm, WOW!! Is right. For being a fast food restaurant they got it totally wrong. To owners: Number one priority is, should be is customer Service. "You don't tell your customers to wait outside without taking their names down, or a number", that's an argument ready to happen between customers"!! We waited half, an hour outside and one hour when we were done. WOW! We ate One Menudo, One order of Chilaquiles in a bowl!!"what"?, with egg, an order of pancakes and Three drinks. This is fast food "right" This is totally a One and Done place. Good Luck if you go. Maybe just Maybe they were like Four employees short staffed??? Final - your establishment needs a Fly fan, windows need blinds or curtains and same rule should apply to every customer to wait outside. READ THIS BEFORE COMING HERE They are disorganized and logic doesn't make any sense. I'll take you though my breakfast experience . We arrive with a party of 4. We clearly see tables open, they are dirty but a wipe down takes only a few seconds. So we wait a couple minutes while she "wipes the table" or so we thought. Another party who just arrive got seated immediately? Anyways, we came to the table that I have originally eyed out before getting sat downs, to only realize that it was the same exact table that was NOT WIPED DOWN. The picture provided is after some hand wiping of my own. Much dirtier before. The wait time is atrociously long, they are so disorganized. There was people before us that just ordered drink and it took them 10 minutes to just receive them. We notice how a lot of people who needed service ( getting the check, needed menus, drink) where not prioritize and instead, staff focus on menial activities like a single napkin that was on the floor, sitting costumers (while not attending the current ones) and other stuff that made no sense. It was ONLY, when we were discussing about leaving and taking our business else where did we 'suddenly' get menus. Keep in mind, most staff workers are working at a very slow, calm pace, while there is clearly costumers who need support As for the menus, everything seem kind of over priced for what you get. I think they sort of try to justify their prices by naming their items in a quirky way like a rustic burger spot that names their fries 'sharables'. The drinks are served in small mason jars which makes it hard to justify 7-8 drinks with no refills. Also, I KID YOU NOT, while waiting for our drinks for nearly 10 minutes , there was a old costumer who raised her hand for help, a server made eye contact for a second or two, and instead took an order to a table all the way in the back, and took a longer path to avoid the older costumer. FURTHERMORE, even after taking the other costumers order, she keeps on ignoring the older lady, while serving new costumers?? While consistently ignoring this older costumer. At this point I am wondering why this place has such high reviews? Were they incentivized? Family bais? Maybe I just came at a bad time? Regardless, this does not excuse everything that has happened (better said, lack of things that happened). Unfortunately for us, we ended up leaving becuase there is no way it should take 25 minutes to get just coffees. And after being ignored and constantly being place last for costumers that are incoming while ACTIVLEY, ignoring their already seated costumers. We just had to walk out. This place is unacceptable. I belive the reviews are incentivized or are not the real full picture of this place service and experience. I would honestly avoid this over price, waste of time restaurant even with all the influencer hype and bias reviews. read more

Been coming here for a few months now and my experience keeps getting better and better the food is spot on always delicious never got my order wrong the DON RIBEYE sandwich is a must have the Chilaquiles and amazing and my daughter cant stop talking about the waffles and pancakes now she makes us come down here every Sunday now and I could never get board of the food here they have it all from breakfast dishes to tacos and burritos and the menudo is to die for I highly recommend this place read more
