Had this place bookmarked after hearing about it on IG so decided to stop by to check it out. It's located in a sketchy plaza with Little Cesear's next door. Very vibrant inside, with a lot of colorful decor, and super clean. There were a few customers inside on a warm Sunday afternoon. Didn't see a menu, but I already knew that I wanted to try their paletas since it was my first time here. Picked mango chamoy and strawberries and cream. They were tasty but overpriced - 2 for $8. Apparently the owner makes all the paletas and ice creams in house, which I thought was really cool. They also have agua fresca and food items, such as tortas. I love love LOVE Don Gaspachos. I've been coming here for years and without a doubt, the best spot ever. Everyone is so sweet and helpful. It is so cute inside to sit w good music. The food is great and stop in whenever I'm around. No problems there. The issue's are their pricing. All the items are VERY much overpriced and seem to change everytime I'm there. The prices are not the same as listed on the menu. I understand different options of one item can vary in cost, but it is never consistent. When checking out, it's obvious that they just make up a price. It's not until you see the total of how much of an up-charge was done. I still remain a customer because the food is delicious and the staff is friendly and helpful. Not to mention supporting a small business. Bottom line is I recommend the business. I met Raul, who was so friendly and took the time to explain everything and let me sample a few flavors--vanilla, rose, strawberry, lime, and one more I can't remember, but every single one was a flavor I'd for sure order. The paletas were very light and fresh tasting, not heavy at all. I ended up getting the strawberry, and WOW--it was like eating a frozen strawberry sorbet in ice cream form. So refreshing and bomb Definitely adding this spot to my go-to list for ice cream. They also had tortas and those fresh fruit drinks with tajín and chamoy, which looked amazing. The owner seemed super nice and welcoming. The kids got Oreo ice cream, which they didn't like much and I got the horchata frappe, which was delicious, but became a little too sweet after a while. The Mangonada here is sooooo good I always ask for it to be extra spicy . Idk if that means extra chamoy or what but they made it PERFECT every time. The people working behind the counter also keep everything very clean and all of the fruit and ingredients look/taste super freshhh I always think I'll try something different but the mangonada is SO good... the strawberries and cream looks next time ... maybe lol. but I did end up getting some of the snacks ( special like limited edition stuff I think they only sell in Mexico or something?) like chili lime Fritos - and popcorn Takis- they were so good! Mainly a Spanish speaking staff and customers so most signage is in Spanish but everything looks delicious and not the usual baskin stuff. Flavors were sweet and creamy and helped to cool down on a hot day riding my bike around. The workers were so nice :) I ordered the #4 Gaspacho which was so tasty! It comes with pineapple, mango, jicama, and cucumber with orange and lemon juice and tajin (i think). It was the perfect afternoon snack on this sunny day, all the ingredients were super fresh. I think my favorite was the jicama because each bite was so crunchy. The employee - who I assumed might have been the owner - gave us samples of the banana and strawberry agua frescas. The banana flavor was heavenly. We ended up getting the banana milk and the soursop. Later on, while we were chomping down on generously-sized tortas, he also checked in on us to see how everything was. The location of the place is a bit sketch, but the interior is clean and festively decorated with papel picados hanging from the ceilings. By the end, we had just enough room for some paletas. They have so many fruits/flavors including flavors we'd never heard of (elote, mamey, gansito, zapote, chongo, nanche, etc.) and an amazing variety of desserts to choose from (paletas, fresadas, canastas, smoothies, milkshakes, ice cream, etc.). Mangonada ($7.25) A generous serving of mango and mango sorbet topped mixed in chamoy, tajin, lime and tamarind candy. Perfect blend of sweet and spicy. I really like how it was actual ripe mango . Hot Cheeto Elote ($4.50) The magic is the hot cheeto dust, which is mixed in and throughout the corn, not just sprinkled on top. YUM! The cherry on top of this visit was when the owner came over and talked to us. He shared the specialties on his menu and his preference for not using too much sugar. I came in and there was only 2 ppl in front of me. Stood a distance away as guided by tape (Covid restrictions). However no one even said hello or acknowledged me even as I was next. Then another couple came in after me. After waiting another 5 - the woman behind the counter spoke to the couple behind me, maybe there were regulars or had a big order, but still not acknowledging me - she told them to come forward - as if I was not there. They simply stared at me and complied. There are many maybes - but I stood for another few minutes, they weren't that busy and there were at least 3 ppl behind the counter. 2-3 women and a man. I usually am not easily offended. But I just couldn't believe how rude it was they couldn't even say a word to me. This is based on customer service only. I dont understand Spanish, but they were polite and I just ended up pointing (I guess my pronunciation of the Spanish when I tried was mangled lol and can't say I'm confident in the English I used either ahah...) but I was out the door with my drink right after getting to the register.
