Regular tacos - carne asada, carnitas, and al pastor (top to bottom)
    Cin-Yee S.

I had no idea until this week that the spot had such amazing tacos! I thought it was just a Mexican dessert place and ice cream shop, but then a friend told me there was also a taqueria inside. This is the best al pastor I have had in years and there is a trompo in the back, so you know it's done right The carnitas and carne asada were also flavorful, crispy, and juicy, and I will be back to try out the other meats and guisados. There were also half a dozen agua fresca flavors (I always get pineapple and mix it with cucumber mint or guava/watermelon when I see this many flavors), and the staff was busy slicing fresh fruit and scooping ice cream for the desserts. Incredible quality for the price - this is going to be my new taco spot from now on!

Best tacos I've had in a long time Sweet Mex is hands down one of the best spots around. I tried the carnitas, pollo, asada, and chorizo tacos every single one was amazing. Super flavorful, fresh, and cooked just right. It's a family owned place, and they're seriously some of the nicest people. You can tell they care about what they're doing, and it shows. Just an all around great spot definitely a neighborhood gem more people need to check out.

Sweet Mex offers a variety of snacks, desserts, and food, I ordered an Horchata Frappe and Vanilla Ice Cream. It was delicious and fairly priced. It is located next to a barbershop, yet there is still a good amount of parking. The employees were nice and friendly. The wait was not long at all. They also have a bathroom for customers. I can't wait to come back and try more items off their menu.

    Raspafruta

Stopped in here for the first time. The person at the counter was super helpful explaining the menu selections. I tried a Raspafruta with coconut shaved ice, fresh mango, Chamoy & tahin. It was super yummy. I can't wait to come back and try other 'drinks'. I didn't have any food this time, but want to come back and try that too. This may be my 'go to' place this summer!

So happy this spot is on my way home. I've tried their ice cream, horchata float, arroz con leche, champuradro, and esquite. All are 5/5. I've seen plenty of people in here eating from their taqueria menu so I'm sure that's just as good. Reasonably priced too. Lots of menu options. And there's usually always a table or 2 free. The parking lot is shared with the other shops and small but I've always found parking. They always have typical Latino music playing and something on tv like news or sports. It's definitely worth a visit.

I probably ordered the wrong thing, because this seems to be mostly a dessert and drinks place. The carnitas taco I got was meh. Carnitas was Ok, but not juicy or crunchy. Tortilla was not any better than a normal taco tortilla. Ambiance was a little run down. Service was OK.

    Esquite con todo

The service is top tier the front end lady I think her name was Katia , was super nice and patient with me telling me descriptions about the items I was interested it, the music and restaurant was clean and the food looked and were soo so yummy.

Delicious food, tasty street snacks, lots of ice cream, whats not to love?! All the mexican goodies are here and the al pastor is top tier. Easy to miss this place but you wont want to! Next time you are having a craving for some mexican snack foods or a tasty taco, this spot is worth the love. They have lots of options so there is something for everyone. Its a small place with only about 4 tables, front door is usually propped open and the location makes for a never ending wind tunnel/draft so wear a jacket or just be prepared.

    Chicharrón preparado
    Ariana H.

I went here bc a friend mentioned they had hand made tortillas. As soon as you come in you see the Mexican snack menu and on the side a small food menu. The snacks look great so I ordered their chicharrón preparado con todo. I also ordered their huarache and hand made tortilla taco. Service was ok nothing special but I did notice the snacks are made separate from the food so I got my taco and huarache first but still had to wait for the other side to make my chicharrón preparado. There was nothing really special about any of it. The flavor was bland and nothing really popped to make me want to come back. Taco: the tortilla was flavorless and the meat dry Huarache: was big but nothing special no seasoning Chicharrón: missing salt or something to help bring the flavors. I don't see myself coming back to try any of it to be honest. If I ever want an over priced esquite I may come back but I really doubt it.

They offer plenty on their menu and have special deals too. You order at the counter and seat yourself. Service was okay. Not many people dining in but a lot of pick up orders. The sopes: Got 2 carnitas sopes and the meat was perfect. Soft but with a slight crisp and the flavor was all there. Plenty of cheese that caused a nice cheese pull. The steak nachos: They use shredded mozzarella but I don't think it was enough. A lot of the chips were bare and the ones that had it were dried out. The guac and sour cream balanced it out. The tacos: We got asada, chicken, and buche. Your average yellow tortilla perfectly oiled and heated up. I do feel like they skimped on the amount of meat they put on the asada tacos and the quality of the meat wasn't the best as there was a lot of fatty pieces. The winning meat was definitely the buche. It was fried just right and had a lot of flavor. The chicken was also very well seasoned and juicy. The green salsa was superior to the red salsa. It had a good heat level that wasn't overpowering like the red one. I appreciated that they added the pickled veggies on the side. Overall, a solid taco and sope spot. I will definitely return to try other items on the menu.

These tacos absolutely hit. However.... the wait. Taco Tuesday apparently activates some sort of time vortex. To-go orders routinely take 45 minutes to an hour, and dine-in isn't much better. You'll place your order, age emotionally, maybe grow a beard, and then BOOM tacos. Worth it? Usually. Efficient? Absolutely not. Outside of Taco Tuesday, prices jump fast. Case in point: $9 for 8 oz of guacamole. It's good guac, but at that price I half expect it to come with a tiny mariachi band or at least whisper affirmations while I eat it.

The Gonzalez regular burrito is the tastiest I've ever eaten in Fremont. It is likely the best burrito in Fremont. The tortilla prep is unique and is tasty, browned, and (buttery). The carne asada was fresh, perfectly spiced, tender, a generously portioned. The pinto beans were whole, not overly cooked, and added a nice layer of flavor and texture. Spanish rice was perfectly cooked, not mushy, not bland, not too much or too salty. The spice blend, fresh leafy bits, and crunchy onion bits, set this typical burrito apart from the rest I've tasted, ever. In totality, this burrito is a multilayered flavor and texture experience. I recommend. Well done Grill Los Gonzales! Caution, the roasted chilly are experienced high level chilly eaters only.

They're finally back so we did the long trek over to try them twice. I might come back if I happened to be in the area and saw zero people in line, but otherwise, the wait time is too long. They are not lunch time friendly as orders take a while to come out. First visit, there were two people in front of us and we ordered four tacos. It was a 28 minute wait. Second visit, two people ordered in front of us plus one person who picked up their order right as we got there. We ordered six tacos and waited 37 minutes. That is very long for a food truck. The people in front of us were getting impatient and repeatedly asking for status updates. There are no prices listed anywhere so you have to ask about each item or order off of blind trust. The trompo seems to be gone and it appears they use bulk bagged "al pastor" now, or at least it looked and tasted like what you see when taquerias order large plastic bags of pre-sliced, red-dyed meat to grill up as needed. The paper wrapper around each taco is a must because the fresh made tortillas fall apart after one bite, even if you are eating within minutes of being handed your tacos. Other options nearby are Amelia's Kitchen Taco Truck on Decoto with plenty of parking before Regan Nursery, Tacos Sin Fronteras (another food truck) a block down on the same side of Thornton and Mi Lindo Sinaloa (sit down restaurant) on the opposite side of Thornton.
