Would do business with them again. ---- On the morning of December 30, we awoke to a cold home. We called Air-Right to look at our furnace and they took care of it in the same day. The igniter broke, so they replaced it. So far so good. However, the furnace made a loud noise whenever it fired up. We thought it was likely just a generic part and that's a minor annoyance, but at least it works. Eight days later, it stopped working again. After calling five times and leaving three messages from just before noon until 5pm, we received no response. It is January. Tonight's low is 21 degrees. This is unacceptable.

They did not have to do this, but went way out of their way to spend this extra time with me and lend a hand. Scheduling was easy and efficient, and they use Square app to confirm, track, and enable notifications for the appointment. During the inspection/cleaning, they were very friendly, transparent, communicative, and efficient. They prepped the work area which was then spotless upon completion as if they were never even there. Extremely professional, knowledgeable, and personable. I had great conversations with the two sons during the appointment, and they took extra time to answer my questions and to walk through safety and operational concerns I had. Overall, this was an excellent experience and I'll be recommending Family Chimney Sweeps to everyone going forward. Great job!

They came out and let me know that because a wood stove was installed to a manufactured fireplace that they couldn't touch it for liability reasons, which I completely understood. He was here for 2-3 minutes and then told me I still needed to pay $120 for a service call (even though no services were completed.) I said I understand that we need to pay something since they made the trip here, but asked if the full priced service fee could be discounted considering we live nearby and no services were completed - and he very rudely declined/said no. We ended up paying the fee - and I do not recommend working with this business as you could very well get ripped off.

Our furnace stopped working. Called Smitty's in Stevensville, MI for an evaluation. The technician…read moreshowed up on time and after a 90 minute long evaluation gave a diagnosis and said he would return with the part the next day. He left the furnace cover and burner cover off. The technician said that he noticed that the furnace would run with the burner cover off and left it that way prior to departing. He also verbalized that it was safe to do so. He returned the next day with a replacement blower motor and after two minutes said the replacement part didn't work and was rushing out the door before being stopped by my wife who asked for an explanation. He verbalized that the heat exchanger is likely bad and would need replacement. He said his company didn't fix this because "Trane parts are too expensive and they don't have access to the parts." He said there was no charge and then rushed out of the door. 1. Here's what bothered me. If the heat exchanger was bad, it was covered under warranty (I checked). Trane would replace the part free of charge. 2. The technician TOOK the cover for the burners and the screws (replacement cost is $302). I have never had a service company steal parts from me. After seven phone call attempts over a 3 week period, my wife finally reached the owner who stated he would address the issue. We had another company come by and evaluate the furnace in the interim. They shared that the furnace was not safe and that it shouldn't be running until the heat exchanger was replaced. They verbalized that Smitty's was putting my family in danger by blowing unsafe gases in my home. ALSO, Smitty's has not returned the burner cover and screws that they took from my home (replacement cost is $302)!! This all happened in November 2019. Smitty's still hasn't responded despite reassurances of resolution by the owner. My recommendation is to AVOID THIS COMPANY at all cost. SAFETY DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A PRIORITY FOR THIS COMPANY. If you do use them, make sure that none of the functional components of your appliance has been taken prior to payment or departure by the technician.

Poor quality work was done on the deck he was hired to build ( everything is crooked, huge gaps etc) never finished building the steps and only screwed down 1/3rd of the deck boards. Was told some of my money would be refunded and I have yet to see a dime and this was beginning at the end of June. He also pocketed the money that was given as a materials deposit for a bathroom remodel that was never even started. Which I was also assured would be refunded but have yet to see. A one star review is honestly too generous.
