I emailed them, called more than 3 times leaving a voicemail and messages with whomever answered the phone. I was told they would let the manager know, but I never received a response from anyone. At that point I figured it wasn't worth it. Then, fast forward to a few weeks, (now 2.5 years later), we find out we had a gas leak. The People's Gas repairmen came quickly and said they were shocked at how loosely the pipes for the water heater were put together! He showed me how he didn't even need a tool to take them apart! In two small twists the pipes were off! So apparently, for 2.5 years, we have had a gas leak and didn't know and are very lucky to be alive at this point. We have a child and have many family members and friends over! We are appalled! So, not only did this company permanently destroy our floor and act extremely unprofessional by totally ignoring us, but they almost killed us due to their negligence! Literally ANY company would be a better choice.

While there's lots of the typical products like nuts and bolts, there's also the power tool and equipment rentals. If needing something like that and you aren't planning on using it again after that then this is where to go. The store can be hard to find things but the staff is friendly and helpful. For a locally owned hardware store it has pretty good finds. It's located at the intersection in the name of course so that helps a lot. There's all the usual household items as well as power equipment and rentals.

Aha! A person! Oh wait, that's a cardboard cutout. (This actually happened to me recently at a big box.) Finally, you find someone, and they tell you where to find the item in question. Only, the entire endeavor took way too long, meanwhile, the house is a mess while you're gallivanting the aisles. Enter Clark Devon Hardware. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted and offered assistance. Even if you are just browsing, others will ask you along the way. If you do ask for help, you will either be taken to the item or shown to a person who can help (as in, 'ask this person right over here,' who sees and waves). The team at Clark Devon is knowledgeable, kind, and no nonsense. They know you have things to do and places to be. They will be happy to help you and send you on your merry way. Clark Devon may not be the prettiest hardware store, and perhaps the big boxes may even have slightly cheaper prices (this is unconfirmed). However, it is my go-to for all hardware and home improvement needs, not only out of a desire to support a locally owned business, but because customer service counts for something too. If I am to offer one smidgen of feedback, it's that I wish they were open until later in the evening. For sometimes you come back from work and discover the closet rod has snapped in two, and you need parts to replace and fix.

A few years ago, when ours unexpectedly went out, they were like a SWAT team. They arrived quickly, cleaned everything up, and had a new water heater installed in no time. They asked him to send a few pictures, immediately diagnosed the issue, and texted him a short video showing exactly how to reset it. A few minutes later, we had hot water again. I own 2 rental properties in downtown Chicago. I had some critical issues in one of the units. My building is old, and the plumbing in particular was outdated and deteriorating. Rescue plumbing (Pete Ishmael) was outstanding to work with. He and his team are very thorough in their work. He took time to explain the issue, my options, and the steps he was taking to completely resolve my leaking pipes. I was blown away that Rescue Plumbing was not only the most complete and detailed of all the repair quotes I requested but also the most reasonably priced. Oscar and his crew did an amazing job fixing up my broken pipes. We thought that we had only one…read moreremaining broken pipe (out of two known) that needed to be fixed. Well, after Oscar repaired the first pipe, we discovered there was another pipe that in the same area that broken as well. Furthermore, when we turned on the water for testing, there was ANOTHER broken pipe in my ceiling, even though that pipe should have been fixed by the previous plumbers last summer. He and his crew didn't hesitate - they immediately ripped out the drywall and found / fixed the last remaining broken pipe. He was hired to fix one pipe, ended up fixing three(!) AND replace my outdoor faucet! He recommended that I blow out the remaining water in my pipes with compressed air every winter, and offered to swing by that following Saturday to take care of it. Incredible service! It's incredibly hard to find honest, hard-working, and fair priced contractors, especially plumbers - Oscar is one of them. I highly recommend him.

I just had Nick come out to troubleshoot a water heater repair caused by a leak from a saddle valve…read moreabove my furnace heading to my furnace humidifier causing the pilot light to go out to to the pooling water and moisture at the base of the unit. The service team was able to fit me in same day by putting me on standby. Nick was able to diagnose, stop the leak, inspect that the leak had done no further damage, and ultimately get the water heater working within 5 minutes of his arrival. Better yet, he said it was a simple fix and did not charge me, but just asked that I keep them at the top of my list for my next job! Very friendly and presentable all the way. He also assessed my heater and said I probably had about another two years to go before needing to replace, and gave me a written quote for a new water heater and to replace the saddle valve with an angle stop. The angle stop cost was a bit high, but the water heater replacement was very reasonable (just being fair). I am definitely going to reach out to them for my next plumbing job.
