After an unfortunate traffic accident involving my Tesla Model Y (for which the other party admirably took full responsibility), I felt truly fortunate to have landed at the doorsteps of Don Joe's auto body and collision repair shop. As other Tesla owners are likely to relate, setting out to fix body damage on your Tesla vehicle can initially appear exasperating given such few "Tesla approved" autobody repair shops overall. In my case, I selected Don Joe's after evaluation of various online reviews and due in part to its "preferred" status by Geico Insurance (the other party's insurance company) as a Tesla approved autobody shop. My primary interaction and communication regarding the repair of my vehicle from the beginning to the end of the entire process was with Victor, a gentleman whose experience and knowledge of Tesla vehicles becomes almost immediately apparent. During the initial walkaround of my model Y to inspect the superficial damage, he assured me that he would thoroughly inspect the underlying body and mechanical components. Based on our conversation, I can tell you that Victor has a passion for Tesla vehicles and appreciates the technological nuances of the vehicle. Throughout our dealings, he was straightforward, respectful, courteous, and kept me apprised of every important step in the process. He worked directly with the Geico insurance adjuster to arrive at an estimate and proceed with the repair of my Model Y. In my situation, the repair took approximately one week given the need to order parts directly from Tesla; however, my Model Y was better than brand-new at the end of the process. Graciously, Victor and his crew even installed my Tesla Roof Rack cross bars which were sitting in the back-cargo area of my model Y after recently arriving in the mail! Efficient and honest body shop that made my car look brand new after an unfortunate accident. As others have mentioned, the whole process is seamless. Scheduling an appointment was easy. Drop-off of the car and rental of another vehicle took around 15 minutes. They had the car fixed in the amount of time they said they would, and it looked great when I got it back. As if the damage had never happened! Picking up the car also took approx 15 minutes. I also really appreciate how they open early than many/most body shops around here and are also open on Saturdays (I don't think they work on the cars over the weekend, though). My car was damaged by a shopping cart leaving a deep dent in the front passenger door that was to deep for paintless dent removal. I had to go through the process of filing a claim with my insurance and I am happy I chose Don Joe's body shop to get my repairs done. Greg helped me out when I arrived he looked at the damage and got me into my rental car within a few minutes. Throughout the process he was in contact with me and kept me updated on what was going. My Tesla Model 3 came back *better* than new. When I first got the car, I had paint correction and a ceramic coat installed right away, and it looked great, as a new car should. However, after a hit and run driver ruined my quarter panel, I took it to Don Joe, and they not only fixed the damaged area to new condition, they fixed some panel misalignments the car had when it was delivered to me new. Amazing! While any Tesla Authorized repair center should do a great job fixing a Tesla, Victor and his team went the extra mile in more ways than I can count. To highlight a few: *Dealt with low ball estimate from my insurance company (I did not have to pay extra from my pocket) *Was able to schedule car repair for minimal downtime (car was drivable, so repair happened when it was least inconvenient to be without my car). *Repaired panel gap and other minor fit and finish issues from Tesla factory. *Kept me well informed on repair a status and completed it EARLY! *Changed out my winter tires//wheels free of charge, and even washes and allowed my winter tries to dry before carefully putting them in my tire totes for safe storage. *Took care to return a serviceable damaged parts for me to keep. Now I have an extra (cosmetically flawed) wheel for a spare tire (nice!) A car drove into my passenger side door on my way to work one morning. Geico recommended this place so I went for the sheer reason I work very close. Over the course of 3 weeks they gave me 4 deadlines as to when I could pick up my Murano...I was originally told 10 days. My car was in perfect looking and running condition BEFORE I dropped it off. There are not that many Tesla certified body shops around, and some of them simply just want to make money and ask for absurd amount for simple repairs. Don Joe completes the maintenance part of buying a Tesla that I feel like Tesla is lacking from expanding too quickly. I was rear ended in my brand new Tesla. Even though the damage was not severe, I was still really really upset. Victor (who specializes in Teslas) made the whole repair process so smooth for me. This car is my baby and I researched a very long time before I decided to drive all the way from Bronx to Long Island. When I pulled into the parking lot and saw a lot full of Teslas, I felt re-assured that my car will be in good, professional hands. I have never been in a car accident before and didn't really know how to navigate the insurance game. Victor had gone out of his way to make the process as easy for me as possible. Even though I am not supposed to drop off my car at the shop before the adjustor inspected it, Victor made an exception and took my car in after I explained to him that, due to my hectic schedule, it's very difficult for me to make it to his shop. I was updated in a timely manner when my parts were ordered/received/repair was done. And I was able to pick my car up in a week after the adjustor inspected my vehicle. Now when I picked up my car, I was hot headed and didn't bother to double check Don Joe's hours, so when I showed up, the shop was closed! Victor had to make another exception and let my drive my car away and mail me the car key later. I feel really bad for being a difficult costumer, and Victor accommodated me every step along the process with no complaints. Not to mention that, when I picked up my car, it's BRAND NEW, washed, cleaned, and in perfect condition. This shop is professional, friendly and has a personal approach. I really wanted to like this place as Jorge seemed very friendly and professional. I'm pretty darn close to calling consumer affairs as I had to take my C250 twice because of missing blatant spots during detailing only to find out taking it the third time would be pointless at this point. I gave this place a chance because of all the 5 star reviews and I'm really not that hard of a person, thus even taking the car back for the second time I kept my cool. My first car, Mitsubishi Eclipse, was detailed really well about 3 months ago, but this C250 was a total disaster. First time I took my Eclipse, I received the car back that very same day and I was very pleased with the result. Price was competitive and Jorge was very professional about the whole thing. Now comes the C250. Jorge asked me to give him a couple of days to detail the car so he doesn't have to rush and do a poor job on it so I told him I wasn't in a hurry so I gave him about 5-6 days to work it. I can't complain about the price of detailing, but I was charged $300 to put a new shark antenna on the car which I was told would look "factory" once I received it, he said the radio would work but the xm satellite radio would be the only thing that won't work. Price of the Antenna was $50 and labor was $250. I came back to see my car with a dummy antenna that wasn't painted and they missed bunch of dog hairs on the driver seat and center console compartment. Mind you, my navigation doesn't seem to pick up my location because I have a dummy antenna, but whatever, goodbye $300 I guess I'll do it myself. I called Jorge and told him they missed these two spots and the car still stinks with cigarette smell. I didn't complain or acted like a d*ck about it, I just told him how it was so he asked me to bring it back in. I went to go pick up my C250 for the second time and Jorge explained to me that the person that was working on it was fired because he was skimping through other people's car as well. Fine. He also explained to me that the smoke smell would eventually go away and he took care of the missing spots. Cool. Finally, Jorge said he removed all the seats and cleaned the interior thoroughly. After bringing this back home and I had it parked for 3 days, I went back in the car and the cigarette smell is still there. Whatever, I thought it'd go away. Soon as I turned on the a/c and look around the car there were some dog hairs here and there. It was bothering me so I decided to check the car. I wanted to know where more dog hairs were coming from and the source of the cigarette smell so I checked the back seat of my car. The inside of center compartment in the back wasn't cleaned at all, I mean just like the first time when they didn't clean the front center compartment, it wasn't cleaned AT ALL. This looked fishy so I Youtube'd how to remove the back seat and basically it left me speechless. I'm just going to add pictures instead of explaining. I basically Amazon Primed all the tools needed to remove the dog hairs and the smoke smell in my car. 303 leather cleaner, Furz-off Pet Hair Remover, Rubber Pet Hair remover brush, Meguiars whole car air refresher, etc. etc. you name it. I took two days to sweat my arse off redoing the car and getting rid of all the nasty stuff in the car which I blew $550 in total for this car. Obviously my wife is pissed, but still, I don't want to be an a**hole and leave a 1 star review. I'm giving them 3 because my first experience was good and Jorge seems like a cool dude. Next time I'll just make sure to buy a cleaner car or take it somewhere else. read more

A few weeks ago I was rear ended when I was driving home from work on the LIE. Needless to say I was upset. After all my wife and I just purchased our brand new black Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor AWD last May so the car was only a couple of months old. The guy who rear ended me had the same insurance as I do and when I called the insurance company, I put him on the phone and he admitted to rear ending me. Being that it was a brand new Tesla I wanted to bring it directly to Tesla. However, the Tesla body shop in LIC did not call me back. To make matters worse someone must have scraped their car along the front driver side bumper of my car. A few days after the accident, after work, I found someone else white paint by my front bumper.... My insurance company recommended Don Joe because they are a Tesla authorized body shop. I have to admit I was a little hesitant at first. After all, that was my baby. I spoke to Victor and he put me at ease. Victor was very professional, courteous, and easy going. He attentively listened to my concerns. I immediately made an appoint to bring my car in for the following week. We planned a family vacation to Niagara falls and thought that while they are working on my model 3 we would be in Niagara Falls. I dropped it off on a Saturday morning and Victor arranged to drive my kids and I to the nearby Hertz, since we already had a reservation with Hertz for a mini-van. Talk about great customer service.... We returned, from Canada, that Friday and by Monday the car was ready. Victor was there to greet me, and I have to say the car looked like when I first purchased it. It was washed, polished and waxed and it was shining bright like a diamond. Victor fixed the rear bumper as well as the front bumper. He really did take care of me and especially my baby. What a pleasant experience from start to finish. Brought in my car here after a tree branch had landed on the back of my car, shattering the rear windshield and leaving a few dents in the roof and the hatch. I'm not going to complain about the length of the repairs or the cost which albeit astronomical in comparison to the scope of work was mostly covered by Geico. I really wanted to like this shop for sentimental reasons since somebody I used to know had worked here before. However, I also can't get over the fact that little attention to detail seems to have been paid when working on my car. The good: to their credit, they did a pretty good job addressing the main issues -- replacing the rear windshield and removing the dents. The bad: they did not clean out all the little pieces of glass that had gotten inside the hatch, I had to do that myself. The also had installed the wrong badge on my car and put on the rear windshield wiper backwards before I pointed it out and they took care of that on a follow-up visit. The top of my rear bumper which had been free of scratches prior to my visit here now has several deep scratches. At that point I couldn't go any longer without my car so I let that one slide. Possibly coincidental but suspicious: I've also noticed that the A-pillar trim appears to have been removed and hastily reinstalled which is odd given that it's in a completely different area of the car.
