The staff was fantastic, very attentive and nice. I really liked their salsa, which was sooooo flavorful and good, without being too spicy, so even the kids could eat it. The food itself tasted delicious, but it was so greasy. Which I know makes for tastier food, but if you have any kind of GO issues (like I do), it will wreak some havoc on your system. I enjoyed the food, I ate every single bite, and then I went running to the bathroom. I probably won't eat there again, but I am happy I ate there the first time. We have been going to Mi Rodeo since the opened many years ago. The staff is always so wonderful and professional. The restaurant and bathrooms are always so clean and well kept. You get chips and salsa and white sauce (best white sauce in the area) complimentary. Their queso is delicious, and so is their table side guac. Definitely order those! My favorites are the A.C.C.P - which is rice covered with chicken and shrimp smothered in queso. And I always get the Fajita Salad with Steak and I ask them to add fajita vegetables on it as well and a small side of queso to put on the top. I have been going to Mi Rodeo for years now. They are very consistent, giving 100% with whatever they are bringing out of the kitchen. I believe everyone that has visited Mi Rodeo knows how fast the kitchen is at getting folks meals out. The large portion sizes are pretty large, you should definitely be full after leaving here. Also, on top of all of these positives Mi Rodeo cares about how their customers experience was. The owners and staff are extremely friendly. The interior and exterior are decently clean, some little changes could be made. My favorite dishes are the Carnitas, Burrito Caifornia, Chicken Flautas and the Burrito California con Camarones but Mi Rodeo has a lot of good dish items. This was my first time visiting this place after having a hard time figuring out what we wanted with so many limited options in the Tri-cities. Found them on Yelp of course. Seated immediately. The chips and dip were amazinggg. That white sauce.. omg.. the white sauce, sooooo good!!!!! It's had this sweet taste when you take a bite then BAM!!! comes the heat! It was so addicting! I ordered fried chicken and fries. Basic, I know for visiting a Mexican restaurant. I couldn't stop eating the chips and dip so I actually didn't need to pay for nachos. The wings were good. Not from the area, I proceeded to Yelp and see what options were available and Mi Rodeo Mexican Grill had some pretty good reviews to say the least. This isn't a big restaurant, but the atmosphere and the friendless of the staff, as well as the food is why I am giving this 4 stars. The chips & salsa were delicious, chips nice and hot. I ordered a Mango Peach Margarita (the smallest one) which was nice and delicious. The menu is pretty standard so I ordered fajitas (less than 10 minutes) the food is piping hot and brought to the table. The flavors were on on point and well seasoned. I ordered my usual- chicken fajitas. They were plentiful but not flavorful. I was only given two tortillas and no guacamole or rice. We tried several Mexican places in the surrounding area and found Mi rodeo the best. It's so good that our group went here several times for dinner, and its where we ordered to Go when we were craving tasty Mexican food. The place looks small when you enter, but they have a whole lot of sitting area in the other room. We had a large group every time we went, and there were no issues with sitting us. The fresh chips and the salsa and the white dip was terrific. They don't have that white dip, which tastes like honey ranch on the west coast. It could be an east coast thing. (I don't know). They are busy and forgot my food one other time, and I didn't get it until the whole group was done eating their food. That didn't deter me from going back. Came for dinner and it is a small place upon entering. It was a little cold I the front area but the back area where they seated us was warmer. I think it could have been since it was by the front door and the windows. The people were all nice upon enter. They had a margarita special so we decided to try some. They were good and tasty and a decent size for the price. My husband had the chimichangas and they were good and filled Wii's a lot of meat. He just wishes they would deep fry them a little more. They were more like 2 over stuffed flautas that one big burrito deep fried...which is what we are used to. They were good and smothered with a cheese sauce on top. I had the carnitas and those had a lot of flavor and were really good...just wish they served a little more. My husband even tasted them and he said they reminded him of my dads. So, to be fair with some of the other reviews that were written here. No, this isn't a Mexican restaurant located in downtown anywhere Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Mexico, California... of course. And no, it's not a beacon of sophistication when you walk in the door. Neither of which matter to me, I'm here to eat, and given the location I thought this was a prime example of good Mexican food away from the "source". I actually made two trips here while I was in the area, the first time I went with straight up Carnitas with rice and beans. Usually, you can tell if a place is 'Mexican' by its more traditional dishes or if it's 'tex-mex' by its more American dishes. I feel that Mi Rodeo comes out very well, because the carnitas were quite delicious! Each bite was flavorful and very tender. Not to greasy either, this can sometimes be the case, but not here. I just kept tearing pieces of my flour tortilla apart and scooping up delightful bites/morsels of the tender pork! It was heavenly. The rice was very good, great in fact, especially with a few shavings of the carnitas mixed in. :) The beans, while not bad, were the standard re-fried style beans of most American Mexican restaurants I've been too. Nothing horrible there, but I wouldn't rave about them. On a SECOND trip while I was in the area, I tried out their Taquitos Mexicanos (2 beef and 2 chicken taquitos). These were also tasty. The meat inside was still nice and juicy, while the outside was fried spot on - and not overdone to ruin the taste. Although between the two dishes, I would certainly go back for the carnitas dinner... I would also be more than willing to try any/everything else on the menu thanks to how tasty the first two trips were. Whether you're visiting the area like me, or there on a permanent basis, I'd recommend Mi Rodeo to satisfy any Mexican food cravings you find yourself having... because it's delicious! read more

I love, we all love this place. We moved to Tucson Arizona and by far this place still beats most of the ones I have been to. To me the food is great, as close to real as you can get for me. My friend who never wants me to eat at Mexican restaurants but instead have her cook for us. Well, she is in Texas but I know she would approve. Portions for lunch are good for me. I eat six meals a day but for some it maybe order the dinner which is still reasonably priced. Its just enough to fill me up and not leave me sleepy. Wow! Ordered delivery tonight after wanting to try them for quite awhile. Everything was packaged well and the hot was hot and the cold was cold. The pico was super fresh with actual jalapeños in it. The white sauce is way better here than most places in town. The chips were a little on the done side, but all the dips made it a non issue. California burrito was huge!! My hunt for the best mexican food around the Petersburg/Colonial Heights/Richmond area led me to Mi Rodeo last week. I've been 3 times since. This place has absolutely unbelievable food. From the burritos, to tacos, to queso, to chips and salsa. Better than Don Jose (my former favorite in the area). Better than Los Bandidos (another former favorite that cannot compare to Mi Rodeo or Don Jose). Better than Plaza Mexico. Not that I want to bash the other area mexican joints, but rather to let anyone reading this review know that I've been there, tried that, and I'm 100% on the Mi Rodeo train. Anyone reading this...let me know if you have another mexican restaurant recommendation in the area. There is typically much to be said about a hole in the wall mexican restaurant in that they almost always have the best food. Mi Rodeo is very unassuming from the exterior, and in some ways on the interior as well. I never really care about appearances unless the restaurant is dirty or falling apart. Inside the atmosphere is lively. With music playing, patrons rotating in/out, waiters and waitresses moving around, the place stays busy. The service staff seem to be pretty good. We actually have had the same waiter every time we've been, interestingly enough. He's always keeps our drinks filled and chip basket full, even if he is a little withdrawn and quiet. I'll continue to frequent Mi Rodeo until I find a better mexican restaurant - however doubtful I am that I will find another place nearby! read more

This has been our new favorite weekly eat out Mexican Restaurant, for the last six months. Everybody knows us, our family and our drink order. We have a favorite table and they normally sit us there, without asking. The service is superb. As you're sitting down, chips and two types of salsa are hitting your table, along with your menu. Prices are easy on the pocketbook. You'll never leave there on a less than full stomach. The food is hot, plentiful and delicious. Save room for dessert or at least get a doggy box so you can have dessert. Order you a drink at least once. I personally recommend the Frozen Lime Margarita's with salt, on the rim. Don't just eat your favorite dish. Try something new each visit. It's fine to still eat your favorite but try to rotate. They have plenty of doggy boxes for you to take some home.
