Went to Little Mexico after the Monument 10k this weekend. The service was very friendly and they were even nice enough to let us in a bit early prior to them opening at 11. I have been a frequent customer of Little Mex since my VCU college days. Since then, the restaurant has gotten a make over with fresh pink paint covering the walls and lots of cute decals. The outdoor patio is now covered so no bugs can get in while you're eating. The food was typical texmex food - classic and satisfies the craving! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I truly enjoy homemade chips - I think if Little Mex added this it would take them to the next level! Regardless, I enjoyed my meal and will definitely be back. Thanks Little Mex for being a Richmond staple!

Little Mexico is a great restaurant all around! They have good food, great music, friendly staff, and an aesthetically pleasing, clean space. I got the Pollo Asado tacos and the guacamole. I've been here before and will come again. I highly recommend this restaurant. They have a pleasing cocktail menu that seems great for casual drinks with friends.

Such a cute spot, gives me Miami vibes. This would be such a good vibe to hang out during the summer especially with their new patio. I tried little Mexico and it's so tucked away that I've never noticed it before. Definitely a hidden gem. Service here was awesome and really nice. We tried the holy guacamole, the taquitos, Baja shrimp tacos, the Al pastor tacos, the birria ramen. Everything was so good. I do wish the shrimp tacos had a bit more flavor. It felt like something was missing and because of that, It was a little dry. The Al pastor tacos was good! The guacamole was some of the best guacamole I've ever had. The portions was so generous. The taquitos was the star of the show, they were so good. We tried a few of their cocktails and margaritas. All the drinks were fire. No complaints. I'll be happy to visit in the summer to see what the vibes are then.

One of my favorite happy hour spots in Richmond. Everything's super affordable and the margaritas never miss. Food is really good too. Always look forward to coming here on a weekday after work.

As a VCU student I can see how this could be a great spot, the food is good, it's local, and they have outdoor patio spaces where you can get seated and served pretty quickly. However, the Quesabirria was a little underwhelming from what I'm used to and not from a flavor standpoint but from a portion size point of view, I wish they packed the birria a little more. The consommé was really flavorful and made up for it, had just the right amount of spice to me. Overall if you're looking for a quick spot to stop by near campus this is for you.

Had the birria egg rolls and chorizo dip and both were amazing. The service was great. Only thing I didn't like they added a 18% gratuity on all checks. Over all the food and drinks were amazing!

Offering authentic Mexican cuisine in Richmond, Virginia, Little Mexico is the perfect local spot to dine. A staple during my VCU days, Little Mexico ave a variety of traditional Mexican dishes, including tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, and burritos. They also have a selection of appetizers, salads, and desserts. The inviting atmosphere makes this restaurant a good place to go for a casual meal with friends or family. I tried out their mezcal summer cocktail, salmon bowl and the Birria egg rolls. So so good! Brunch + lunch specials + Happy hour + daily drink deals = DELICIOUS EATS AND FUN ALLDAY EVERYDAY! I will be coming back on Thursday for the Don Julio and Patron drink specials. Also visit their sister restaurant Lolita's in Carytown.

This is the perfect quintessential Mexican restaurant. If you want traditional Mexican cuisine then I highly recommend give Little Mexico a try. They have everything you would expect, like tacos, burritos, quesadillas, fajitas, salads, and more. Their delicious protein choices include chicken, steak, ground beef, shrimp and vegetarian options like black beans. Everything is super affordable and it always comes to you piping hot, so you know it's fresh. They also provide complimentary chips & salsa with unlimited refills. I definitely suggest getting some queso or fresh guacamole to go along with the salsa. You won't regret it. This restaurant has plenty of tables, booths, and bar seating. I recommend carpooling with whoever you plan to go with, considering it's only option is street parking and this area can get especially busy on the weekends. I certainly think it's a must try!

Amazing food. Great service! Joe (I believe that was his name, guy from Bucaramanga, Colombia) took very good care of us. Very attentive and nice. We got the asada and birria fries. Omg! Never had such amazing asada fries, and my husband loved the birria ones as well. They brought the food super quick. They gave us some appetizers to start. 100% recommend. Will definitely come back. Fries were perfect. Crispy outside and soft inside! Mouth watering. And the portion was very abundant. We had to take it to go because we couldn't finish. So come ready to eat if you're hungry! Ambience very nice as well. Cool spot and casual, which was great!

Had a family member at VCU hospital, we needed to grab lunch and wanted to get out of the hospital cafeteria. Came to Little Mexico and could not have been happier. the restaurant was medium size but very quaint and welcoming. We were welcomed with some chips and salsa, which were really yummy. I got the burrito grande which came with steak, rice, beans, sautéed vegetables, and covered in a chipotle cream sauce. It was very good. My daughter got the birra tacos, and she loved them as well. My wife got the fried ground beef chimichangas. No one was disappointed. All the food was very well-made, very fresh and very delicious. The waitstaff were very friendly. I would eat here again and would recommend to anyone looking for some yummy Mexican food.

I noticed the ice cream/yogurt spot nearby was hopping. There was a person asking for change outside the front door. We were greeted by an enthusiastic host and seated immediately at a booth up front. The server came by within seconds and brought us water and place settings. We decided to get the chips and salsa for an appetizer and a pair of melting chimichangas for entrees. I can't resist some chorizo and steak. My partner got the chimichanga without chorizo and with chicken. The ambiance was colorful with beautifully painted murals on each wall, and the atmosphere was undeniably loud. There were lots of patrons. The place was packed, even at the bar, so your mileage may vary. We received our orders within minutes of each other, so there wasn't much of a wait time. The chips and salsa were homemade, fresh, warm, and delicious (muy rico). Same for the entrees; exactly what I want in a Mexican food restaurant. The chorizo and steak were well-cooked, seasoned, and chopped finely, but not ground. I was in heaven with that chimichanga. We had to take home leftovers. The next night, heated in the oven at 325 for 30 minutes, they were similarly excellent. The night ended without dessert, sadly (too full). However, the server was quick and efficient, and he was always around to fill water and bring anything we needed throughout the meal. Great experience overall. We will definitely return here whenever we have a hankering for some good Mexican food at reasonable prices. I can recommend this place to anyone who appreciates hearty and filling Mexican food.

We arrived on a Thursday night around 8 o'clock at the ever daunting and strange Brown Box Plaza…read moreparking lot. There are usually spaces available, but it is a confusing parking situation. We were seated in moments of arriving after a brief walk to the door from the parking lot. The atmosphere is authentically Mexican with no shortage of bottle-related wall furnishings or decor. The stairway in the front entrance, the chandelier, and the rafter hangings are among my favorites. Our server was Don (that may be wrong, I didn't get the printed reciept before leaving), who reminded me of a professional linebacker, was soft spoken and attentive. He was there when we needed him, and out of sight when we didn't. I ordered the Empanadas and Sweet Plantains for my entree and my partner opted for the Baja Crunch Burrito. We had been here before, so knew about what to expect from the kitchen. My empanadas were light and fluffy with some delightful flavors and added peppers, compared to other Sysco-style empanadas I have had. With only two small pouches for 10 bucks, I was disappointed. The sweet plantains were cooked to perfection, a little crisp and a little smooth and creamy. Suggestion: the empanadas and plantains would make a great entree for $12-14. The crispy chicken burrito was passable. My partner said, "The rice was slightly crunchy and the burrito was not as hot and tasty as last time." We decidedly went with the churros for dessert. I cannot tell you what they put in them, but I can tell you that every bite was as exquisite as the last. Absolute legend. Our server Ben, Don, whatever your name was, you were excellent. Thank you for providing fantastic service, my fellow sour beer enthusiast. May your tips ever increase. Casa Del Barco has a curated menu, plenty of drink options, and a half-full bar on a Thursday around 9 o'clock. It seems like a great place to go to meet a few people. I know the kitchen probably just had a rough night, and the restaurant will continue to strive for the highest quality food possible; therefore, I continue to recommend Case Del Barco if you enjoy Mexican food.
