Great food! There were 6 of us and we were all happy with our meals. The sign says they are family owned.

I walked in on a Saturday around 4pm and the place was pretty empty, one table of 8 ppl and one table of 2. There was one guy working in the front, he was pretty nice and attentive. I ordered churrasco, rice and beans, and sweet plantains. The steak was very well seasoned, this place is pretty consistent with the hood flavor that they provide. The rice and beans were good but nothing to write home about. The margarita was only ok, but I understand this is not a drinking spot so I'm ok with that.

Nice little place where attention is completely to the guest. Well priced meals, didn't see any lunch specials, but they do have happy hour. One menu is Cuban food and the of the menu is Mexican food. My suggestion would be street taco should have two corn tortilla. I asked for extra tortillas because my food was falling out of a single tortilla. More variety of hot sauce would be wonderful.

In this humble plaza off the freeway in Ft Lauderdale is this fantastic place where the quality of the food will surprise and amaze you. The croquettes are dense, moist and flavorful and the chicken was amazing! My burrito was the kind of burrito you crave when you haven't had one in a while. Talked to the owner for a good while about sports and why we were visiting area. Problem with a place you fall in love with is not being able to give regular business to them on account of you be2500 miles away! I'd recommend to anyone living in the area! I think they thrive on "regulars" so if you're local, support this great small business with a cozy touch, like visiting someone's home. Or if you're visiting or to the folks flying out of FLL like us, I'd encourage you to stop by! You won't be disappointed!!

To be clear, the one-star rating I am giving Don Lolo's is for the aesthetic...it's ok on the inside. However, we are to rate food and service, and on both counts, Don Lolo's fails. First, I ordered a lentil soup that unapologetically never arrived - the waitress was upset that I asked after my missing soup....smh! Now, this spot is listed as a "Mexican/Cuban restaurant. Well, nope, that's not what it is at all. It's more a Mexican restaurant with some mexicanized Cuban sides. Like what Cuban restaurant does not serve arroz moro, and replaces it with Mexican yellow rice. Next, I ordered ropa vieja, or shredded beef...the beef was there but not the shred, at all. I got huge chunks of meet drowned in sauce, begging to be shredded. There is nothing worse than a sloppy restaurant, and Don Lolo's is exactly that, SLOPPY!!! PS: Though the prices are reasonable, I recommend spending your money elsewhere. Stay away from Don Nono's!!!!!

It was shortly after 8 pm and we were on our way to try Señor Cafe, arrived at 8:30 but they close the kitchen 30 minutes before their 9 PM closing time. Back to the drawing board.... Don Lolo's was open until 10 pm, and only 7 minutes away. What a treat! There was one other table seated, seems to be a trend at late hours. The lighting was dimmer but comfortable, and overall very clean. Their food was so fresh!! I ordered the Palomilla steak, it was marinated and cooked to perfection. The Salsa did not taste like it came from a jar. The black beans and plantains were amazing. The rice was perfectly cooked and fluffy. I could easily become a regular if I lived locally. I still can't wait to try Señor cafe...stay tuned.

OMG!!!! This by far has been the best Cuban food I've ever had. I ordered the palomilla steak which was served with white rice, black beans, and sweet plantains while my brother opted for the breaded chicken breast which was also served with white rice, black beans, and sweet plantains. The steak was juicy and delicious but the breaded chicken breast was my favorite. It was seasoned and fried to perfection. I told myself I'll try to make the same meal and if it doesn't work out, I'll stop by Don Lolo's where I know it'll be done right. Our bill came out to be $43 and some change, very reasonable. The customer service was on point! Please stop in and support this business, you won't be disappointed.

This is a friendly, welcoming place with seating options indoors, outdoors and at the bar. Our waitress Jennifer was excellent, as she juggled multiple tables inside and out. Our water and Margarita glasses were kept full. My shredded pork roast dish was so good, and with the sides, I took it home and had it for lunch the next day. My wife enjoyed her Shrimp Criola, and we took some of that home, too. We got a carry-out of the Pechuga de Pollo for my mother-in-law at home. She loved the marinated chicken breast and sides. In fact we got two extra leftover meals out of it! Good, quality food, with a nice staff and vibe. The prices are very fair! YES, we will be back!!!! read more

I returned to Don Lolo with my father and we got what we always get: grilled grouper. This time it was exceptionally good, even better than usual. I did throw in one innovation, and got a side of guacamole - that really picked the meal up a notch. I was delighted! We enjoyed the chips and salsa that come with the meal, paired with a couple of beers. I used to flinch at $60 for lunch (for two people), but that's how it is these days. So long as the food is good, I am ok with it. The ambience is simple but welcoming, one I feel comfortable returning to again and again. read more

Laid back, no frills Mexi-Cuban eatery in Hallandale. Food was fresh and tasty albeit unremarkable. I appreciate the accommodation to add fajitas to my shrimp quesadilla. Service was efficient with one gentleman running front of house early Saturday evening. Saw many locals come in for takeout. Has been around for a while and moved locations up the street recently. No full bar but they offer sangria, margarita and a small variety of cervezas. Affordable and a good value for the portion size. Plates do not come with pico or guacamole sadly. Chips are fresh, salsa is meh. read more

We were actually headed to a different Cuban Restaurant when we rode past Don Lolo's. Since we both love Mexican and Cuban food we thought we'd check them out on yelp for another time. After reading several reviews and nearing our destination, it sounded so good we decided to make a u-turn and go all the way back. We must say, the reviews were right. The food was excellent. Hubby had the Palmilla Steak (which I will definitely have next time). I had the Ropa Vieja which was tender and saucy. So great. It came with perfect white rice and amazing black beans. Hubby had perfectly crunch Tostones while I had super wonderful sweet plantains. We ended everything with a fantastic flan. Oh and it all started with one of our favorites... fresh salsa and chips. We will definitely be back!!!!!! read more

Small but cute place. Very homey and welcoming. We came in the off season, so it was not busy. Chips and salsa tasted very fresh. I had street tacos and yellow rice. Flavor of all was perfect. Hubby had a beef burrito with ranchera sauce, with rice and beans. We both ate everything in front of us . Service was very attentive. We will definitely be back. read more

It's easy to fly by when you are battling traffic, but it is absolutely well worth the stop Not sure where to start, the food is always incredible, the service is always stellar, the prices are really affordable We stop here at least 4 times a month, the decor is really incredible, and it seems like it is family owned/run and they take a lot of pride in their work. We discovered this restaurant 2 years ago and is one of our favorite place. Especially the special chicken stew he used to make on Sundays which the whole family truly loved but unfortunately is no longer being offered. But everything is deliciously made! We never get disappointed! read more

The garlic chicken was phenomenal. Hole in the wall quality in a tastefully-crafted casual ambience. Classic Miami all around. If you want to SIT and eat authentic Cuban food, come here. Alex is a nice guy. I have a feeling he's the owner based on how he treats everyone! read more

1st time visiting don Lolo ! Very happy with the service and food! Steak fajitas were amazing! Sizzling on their way from the kitchen to the table. The steak was tender and full of flavor! Sides of tomato, lettuce, guacamole, and cheese were fresh and plentiful. Churrasco cooked right, tender, seasoned well, and paired really well with their chimichurri sauce. I have been coming here for almost a year. The owners and staff are amazing and sweet! The food is consistent, authentic and delicious. I cannot share any pictures because as soon the food arrives you have to dig in! Their Pollo Empanizado, Masas and quesadillas are my go to and fabulous! I drive by this place all the time and tonight we were looking for a new restaurant and happen to come by. It was not overly busy, the place is kind of small, but the food was so good! I am normally picky about black beans, but their beans were amazing. My enchiladas and yellow rice were awesome. My husband had a burrito and they have a happy hour until 8 PM, so he had a Modelo and I had a margarita. LOVE this new place. It's a mom and pop place, which makes it cozy & nice. I found this place while I was getting my oil changed. Walked in, it's small restaurant with couple round tables. I looked over and kitchen looked pretty tiny. Menu consisted of lil bit of everything. Thought it was lil pricy for such a small venue. I ordered steak chimmichurri sandwich with fries. The empanadas were on special so decided to order one of each chicken and beef. Salsa and chips are complimentary. The steak sandwich was ok. I liked my beef empanadas, they were crispy delicious. Overall good experience, not sure I'll come back bc of lack of space, you can literally hear everything what others are saying. Or it was some ppl on other table being obnoxious. read more

This was our first stop after arriving at the hotel -- we sat at the bar for lunch and drinks, and it set a great tone for the trip. Marcelle was our bartender and server, and she was wonderful -- super friendly and made one of the best Rum Runners I've had. We shared chips with salsa and guacamole, along with a chicken quesadilla -- all fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Even though there's no direct view of the ocean from the bar area, the atmosphere was still really pleasant and relaxing. This is also the same spot that provides food and drink service to the upper pool deck, which we took full advantage of. Being able to order poolside made it easy to kick back and truly unwind -- the service was prompt and the drinks stayed just as good. Highly recommend stopping here whether you're staying at the Diplomat or just visiting the area. Solid food, great cocktails, and a welcoming vibe.

Each taco had just a single jalapeño, the filling was noticeably skimpy, and one of the shells was already broken when I opened the container. I didn't return to the store to address the issue because I was headed to work, but it was a bit of a letdown since I frequent this location often and have never had a problem before. That said, I do want to note that both the team member who took my order over the phone and the one who helped me at pickup were very pleasant and professional. This one-off experience won't stop me from coming back--I just hope the next visit feels more like the Tijuana Flats I know and love.

Burritos are generally messy, and I wasn't offered utensils so I ended up having to eat with my hands as I wasn't even offered utensils. All include a side of chips. I ordered the Stack, on the higher end of the price range and the portion size was huge! I could only eat half of it and took the rest home. You personalize your dish accordingly with add ins such as veggies, rice, etc., so add as much or little as you like, it's all the same price. They have a very efficient line operation so it moves the line of customers pretty quick, but not making you feel rushed either. You can also add queso at the end, prices start around $2 or so for a small size. You have to get the queso though, it's a must! We look forward to coming back regularly, both service and food is great, and you can't beat the price!

We ordered a pitcher of iced tea & received a free batch of buffalo wings with it as that was the special that day. They always have a daily special. My friends got the ribs special & steak special (Joe's Meal Deals) which came with a salad & garlic rolls, everything was very good. Plus Yelp…read moredoesn't allow half measures :) Found this place by accident as I was searching for the nearest spot with decent reviews to grab a dinner. Yelp app wasn't loading due to network issues in the area, so I had to use Google Maps. Glad I did as otherwise I'd have never discovered this restaurant since it hadn't been on Yelp. The restaurant located at the back of Le Mer Condominiums building. You have to go through the main entrance for the building and then ask front desk on how to get to the restaurant. There's no outside or inside signage indicating there's a restaurant, so the place is literally undiscoverable unless you are looking for it. It does look comparatively new and the number of reviews on Google at the time of my visit was also very limited (19 to be precise) with the oldest dating 2 months back. I'd question the owner's plan on bringing more business into the restaurant because, again, no one would know it's there... The best evidence of the lack of advertisement and popularity is the fact that on Friday evening I was literally the only customer in attendance. The interior looks welcoming and casual, it does give an impression that the owner(s) attempted to make it special with some fun decor details. There's a separate bar area, that said, it doesn't have a bartender and doesn't seem to attract guests. There's also outside seating which is probably the main attraction during morning and day times. As I was there in the evening, the strong wind wasn't making it an option to sit outside. The turn off for the interior was the exposure to the kitchen that is visible from any seat within the interior space. I could see how when more guests are around and cooking is more active, the smells and sounds would make it feel overwhelming to be there. Also there were cute bar stools placed along the bar counter separating the tables from the kitchen. It looked like their main purpose was storage of extra pillows that were probably brought from outside due to the strong wind. I can't imagine a customer being interested in seating in one of those stools and staring at the kitchen. The fact that the stools were used for storage was definitely affecting the feel from the interior in a negative way. The service was good with the waiter being friendly and available. Well, there were no other guests, so there were no distractions for the staff. The menu is limited and mainly built around popular items from Eastern European cuisine such as Bosch soup, vareniki, Beef Stroganoff, etc. There are a couple of Contemporary American cuisine items too like chicken wings and burgers. Kids menu surprised me by a wide selection of options (see pics). The drink options listed on the menu are very limited from the alcohol perspective. There are just four unnamed wines (just the type of wine is listed), all for $15/glass and three beer options priced at $6. The lack of alcohol selection is possibly compensated by the offering by a wider assortment of regular tea for $8, crafted tea for $13, fresh squeezed juice for $7, and lemonades and smoothies for $12. It's unclear what the quantity the customer will be receiving after paying the hefty price for such non-alcoholic beverages though. Hoping it's a good amount to share. If you are still reading, you probably figured out that another downside of the place is pricing. Additionally to the overpriced beverages, there are other items that hit you with a large price tag, e.g. Bosch soup for $15 and desserts starting at $13/portion. From the food quality and taste perspective: the Borsch I tried was pretty good and served in a beautiful bowl, the mini chebureki were really tiny, tasted okay but lacked the expected juiciness and amount of filling was very less. The carrot juice was great and looked just prepared (as one would expect). To sum up, the place might be great for sunny warm time to sit outside and grab some food and non-alcoholic beverages, probably great if you have children to feed. Not the best option for a romantic dinner or fun get together with friends that would involve alcoholic beverages (unless you are good with unknown wine or Corona).
