Hidden gem with $1 tacos on Wednesday! Small, cute place and the staff is very friendly. The quesabirra tacos (not included on the Wednesday deal) are so flavorful. I've been going to Don Pancho's Tacos for a long time, and unfortunately my experiences have continued to get worse. This is now the third time I've had issues with missing items in my order. When customers call to report missing food, the staff doesn't handle it professionally--instead, they complain or make it seem like it's the customer's fault. The service is also very disappointing. The waitresses are not welcoming or friendly, and the waiting time for food is extremely long. On top of that, they charge $1.25 for a single lemon, which honestly feels unreasonable. Another ongoing issue is their payment system. The card machines are often not working. On my last visit, I actually had to send money through Zelle to a waitress just to pay for my meal because they couldn't run my card. What made this last experience even worse was that when we pointed out that three items from our order were missing, the owner made me go into the kitchen and threatened us instead of trying to resolve the situation. That was very unprofessional and uncomfortable. I've tried to keep supporting this place despite the repeated problems, but after this experience I can't recommend it anymore. When you run a business, basic human quality and respect toward customers should always come first. read more

This place is a true hidden gem. We went for a late lunch so we were the only ones dining in there the whole time, but the food was just phenomenal. Very fairly priced too, my husband and I's total was only $35 for two full entrees. I ordered the tacos and they were on another level, my husband ordered the chicken enchiladas, which he also said was delicious, but we were very confused as the dish came deconstructed lol. I wanted 5 steak tacos and 3 chicken tacos because I saw they have them for a dollar (1$) on Wednesday. I also ordered extra cilantro and extra onion along with 5 green sauces. The totally came to be 21.40$. The woman who took my order could hardly communicate with me in English but she charged me the regular price and not what the ad says. I couldn't go back because I had prior commitments, it took me 4 times till someone picked up the phone and I still couldn't have someone that could communicate with me about the mix up. So my parents ordered some tacos on Wednesday and they have a special that tacos are a dollar. They also got chips and guacamole that did not disappoint and everything had a ton of flavor. The beef and chicken tacos are done right and the green salsa has a great kick if you like spice. My father said the restaurant was nice and service was quick. We've been going to Don Pancho's for two years. I pay to send my construction crews for lunch and we've been there several times for dinner. We used to be recognized by the wait staff and everything was pretty good, but there is a whole different group working there now and never again will I go back or send my employees. Seven of us went for dinner last week. On the menu, there are chips and guac for $4.99, but nothing anywhere about the basket of chips that traditionally are served at Mexican restaurants before meals. In all, we ordered 39 tacos, 8 drinks, and one side order of guac so we could have some guac with the chips they brought out before the meal. It took about 30 minutes to get our meal so in-between, we asked for some more chips. All was good until we got the check. As you can see in the pic, we got charged $4.99 for six little basket of chips and the hot dipping sauce - $29.94 for six little baskets of chips served before the meal. Plus we got charged $3.99 for the side order of guac. I brought the receipt up to the counter and told them we only ordered one chips and guac. They refused to adjust the bill saying they charge the same for any basket of chips whether it's the one on the menu with the guac. I said, "that's never happened before. Why didn't anyone tell us that?" No way would we have ordered $30 in chips and dip that get served everywhere else for free (and always for free whenever we've gone to Don Pancho's). The complaint feel on deaf ears. They refused to make any adjustment. I paid the bill and left, but I'll never send my construction crews there again for lunch or bring my family for dinner. Love love love this place. Everything you want from your local taco spot. It's authentic...I mean really authentic. It's not an extensive menu and it's not Tex-Mex. they have everything from micheladas (Mexican Bloody Mary with beer instead of vodka), to tacos and more. This is a very homey spot to come by and get some good Mexican food. What makes this place even better is....wait for it...$1 tacos on Wednesday's!!! Now, they are smaller than their normal ones you get the other days but, it's $1, come on! I've had their nachos and they were delicious and very generous with potions. Meats are great quality. This place recently opened up a few blocks from my neighborhood. In the almost 3 years I've lived here this space has been 3 other restaurants previously. My husband and I decided to check it out after deliberating as per our usual Friday night if we want to cook, order take out or go out. Being so close we decided to check it out and were thinking that it would pretty much be a taco joint. To our surprise they actually had quite a few options on the menu. The server brought complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was yummy and super flavorful. We decided to try their Osito Torta and 3 of their tacos. Everything was delicious! Then to top it off the tacos were thin as paper and had no flavor Worst tacos I have ever had. Salsa was watery and had no flavor also. tl;dr: Solid option for a nice, cheap taco It's Taco Wednesday!!! Okay, I'm used to doing this on Tuesday, so how did we get here? My favorite taco spot closed down, and I need a new spot for one of my favorite foods. I'm on a journey to find great tacos here in Tampa. One of my fiancee's coworkers recommended Don Panchos for their $1 Tacos. Who could say no to tacos for that price?! The restaurant is in a bright blue building on Armenia close to the Bravo Supermarket. It's pretty hard to miss it. The options for the taco deal include carne asada, chorizo, campechano, pastor, chicken, and carnitas, a nice variety of options. Just to warn you, there are a few quirks to remember. I wanted to try one chicken taco but was informed that the minimum for chicken tacos is three. Whatever. Chicken tacos aren't even my favorite anyway. I went with the pastor taco (marinaded pork with pineapple), and the carnitas (pulled pork). Those along with carne asada are what I tend to go to in order to test a taco place, as well as seeing if the tortillas are homemade.... and the salsa verde. Okay, I love a lot of different aspects of tacos! Geez. The tacos were definitely on the smaller side, but the tortillas were homemade. Good. I tried the salsa verde, and it was honestly delicious. Full of flavor with a little spice to it. It wasn't a powerful kick, but it was a nice, flavorful zing. The portion of meat was fine for a 1 dollar taco. I tried the pastor first, and it was alright. It was a solid 3.5 out of 5 taco. Not bad but not exactly mind-blowing. The carnitas tacos were awesome! After one bite, I was instantly regretting not getting more of those. The flavor was deep into the meat of the carnitas. They must've took their time with that pork! Was Don Pancho the best taco place I've ever been to? No. Do they give you a good bang for your buck? This little spot is a gem! Went for $1 taco Wednesday. They were made fresh to order and did not disappoint. My friend has the nachos. Our order was to go. They separated the nachos which we could tell were made and not store bought. The meat, cheese and refríes beans were packaged separately to avoid tortilla from getting mushy. The little turquoise building sits on Armenia Ave just before Sligh (Ave) and is the newest addition to the neighborhood. For anyone who is a Tampa native, it's the old 'Wholy Smokes BBQ' or that Italian place that maybe was open for 2 months. The menu has plenty of favorites to choose from, but what I came for is the tacos. Wednesday's at this little spot, they have $1 tacos. You heard me. Dolla Dolla tacos y'all! Barbacoa, Carnitas, Tinga Pollo, Chorizo, Bistek, and more! They were good. Small, street style ( cilantro & onion only) but packed a lot of flavor. For a $1 I was impressed. And with everyone else doing "Taco Tuesdays", I like the fact they stepped out of the box and did Wednesday's.
